Chapter 75: Meeting an Acquaintance at the Restaurant

Jiang Xubai saw that Qin Shu still refused to move and urged her, "Hurry up, can't you afford to lose?"

Qin Shu stared into Ji Yanli's eyes, looked at him with an apologetic gaze, and pursed her lips: "Offense taken."

She rose to kiss him, and Ji Yanli's body stiffened slightly, his long lashes trembling; as he watched Qin Shu draw closer, his heart began to beat uncontrollably for no reason.

Jiang Xubai and Chu Sheng were slightly startled, but Ji Yanli sat upright, as if he had already anticipated this, with little surprise on his face.

He calmly picked up his wine glass and took a sip, though his heart could not help but beat wildly because of Qin Shu's proximity.

Jiang Xubai smiled playfully as he looked at Gu Tingyan: "Tingyan, can't you afford to lose?"

Chu Sheng spoke nonchalantly: "That's right, didn't we play like this before?"

Gu Tingyan tugged at his tie and kicked the table, his eyes cold: "I just can't afford to lose, so what!"

The smile on Chu Sheng's face faded, and she watched him without speaking.

Gu Tingyan pulled Qin Shu up, looked at Ji Yanli, and said coldly: "She is my person."

Ji Yanli raised his eyes to look at him, his gaze falling on the wrist Gu Tingyan was holding, and his eyes darkened slightly; after all, they were still husband and wife.

Gu Tingyan forcibly dragged Qin Shu into the car, gripped her chin, and his eyes were as sinister as ice.

"If I hadn't stopped you just now, were you really planning to kiss Ji Yanli? Hmm?"

Qin Shu struggled to break free from his hand: "Let go!"

Qin Shu glared at Gu Tingyan and said with cold sarcasm: "It's just a game; you and Chu Sheng didn't kiss any less before, did you?"

Qin Shu struggled to get out of the car, but Gu Tingyan held her hand with one hand and leaned over to fasten her seatbelt: "Don't move."

Gu Tingyan drove with a cold face and took her straight back to the villa.

In the car, Qin Shu lowered her head to message Su Tuantuan, telling her she didn't need to come pick her up.

Su Xiangwan sent her a message: "Xiao Hua, do you need me to help you call the police?"

Qin Shu glanced at the man in the driver's seat, her heart sinking, and replied: "I'm fine, don't worry."

Su Xiangwan: "Mm."

Qin Shu: "Are you short on money lately?"

Su Xiangwan: "No, I'm not. This job suits me quite well."

"Do you... look down on me?"

Qin Shu: "You aren't stealing or robbing; earning money by your own ability is nothing to be ashamed of."

Su Xiangwan leaned against the wall, and seeing this, a smile appeared on her face as strands of hair fell over her forehead: "Thank you."

She put away her phone and straightened up, but when she looked up and saw Lu Ziqian standing in the shadows not far away, her body stiffened, and a sense of terror welled up in her heart for no reason.

She didn't know how long Lu Ziqian had been standing there.

The man leaned against the wall, holding a glowing red cigarette, his eyes cold and indifferent, looking at her with chilling intensity.

"My daughter must never be entangled with a murderer."

Su Xiangwan's knuckles turned white as she gripped her phone; she braced herself and walked toward the door, and the moment she brushed past Lu Ziqian, she felt a chill run through her very bones.

Not until she reached the corner and leaned against the wall where Lu Ziqian couldn't see her to catch her breath did she realize her back was soaked through.

Gu Tingyan brought Qin Shu back to the villa, and after getting out of the car, he looked at her with an indifferent expression: "Stay away from Ji Yanli in the future."

Qin Shu rubbed her wrist, looked at the tall, straight back of the man in front, and walked inside.

Gu Tingyan went to the guest bedroom, and Qin Shu went to the master bedroom; the two slept in separate rooms.

The next day.

When Qin Shu woke up, Gu Tingyan had already left.

The housekeeper had prepared breakfast and placed it on the table, saying respectfully: "Madam, you're up; breakfast is ready."

Qin Shu: "Mm."

After finishing breakfast, Qin Shu went to the film set, and for three days in a row, she did not see a trace of Gu Tingyan.

Chu Sheng finished filming her scenes for the first half and left early; on set, Chu Sheng behaved herself and didn't cause any trouble for her.

Qin Shu stopped in her tracks, looked toward the window, and saw Gu Yichen sitting upright in his little suit; he was sitting with Chu Sheng, and there was a smile on his face from time to time.

Through the glass, it was unclear what the three of them were talking about.

Qin Shu had not seen him for several days, and she even missed him a little.

Su Tuantuan frowned: "Your mother-in-law is taking your son to get close to Chu Sheng; what is she trying to do?"

Qin Shu's eyes were indifferent: "Perhaps she wants to get him a new mother."

Su Tuantuan's expression changed instantly: "Damn!"

Qin Shu patted her hand: "Impulse is the devil, restrain yourself."

"She has disliked me for more than just a day or two."

Qin Shu and Su Tuantuan walked into the restaurant and headed straight toward Lin Jingshu's table; she looked at Lin Jingshu and called out indifferently: "Auntie Lin."

Gu Yichen heard Qin Shu's voice and looked over at her; his small hand tightened slightly, and he glanced at Lin Jingshu without moving.

The smile on Lin Jingshu's face, which had been full of laughter while facing Chu Sheng, faded the moment she saw Qin Shu.

Lin Jingshu heard the change in how she addressed her: "Mm."

What Qin Shu called her was Auntie, not Mother.

Chu Sheng sat to the side, a sense of joy in her heart; did this mean that Tingyan would soon divorce Qin Shu?

Qin Shu greeted Lin Jingshu and looked at Gu Yichen, her voice gentle: "Baby, do you want to go eat with Mommy?"

Gu Yichen subconsciously looked at Lin Jingshu and gripped the chopsticks in his hand tightly: "Grandma, may I?"

Lin Jingshu looked at the cautious expression on her grandson's face, furrowed her brows, and sighed: "Go ahead."
