Chapter 49: Orc Enslavement

~6 min read 1,122 words

Luo De and the others arrived before the female orc Amy.

It seemed Hera had specifically taken care of her—she was suspended midair, eyes rolled back, unconscious.

“Orcs have poor mental resistance?”

“Not great—just slightly better than humans. Orcs are Jiyibeimeihuo , but once they awaken a spiritual art called 【Death Duel Will】, their resistance increases dramatically.”

Tally hugged Luo De’s arm, claiming ownership, and sharply shoved Viviann aside.

“I see.”

Luo De didn’t hesitate and successfully inscribed the enslavement rune onto Amy.

【Enslaved Target 5: Amy Thunder】

【Race: Orc】

【Age: 13】

【Compliance: 46】

【Evaluation: Amy’s physique is considered malformed and underdeveloped among orc tribes, so she was frequently bullied in the past—until she found a cleaver forged from extraterrestrial meteorite. Note: Orcs reach adulthood at age 10. Feel free to enjoy.】

Luo De stared at her nearly two-meter height.

Thirteen?

Underdeveloped?

What kind of muscle monsters are your orcs?

“Heh.”

Tally chuckled dismissively beside him.

One orc. No competition.

She began to suspect her master was deliberately provoking her jealousy.

Pan Ni felt an inexplicable sense of shared sorrow, yet also rejoiced that she was no longer the lowest among them.

As for Viviann.

She stared blankly at Luo De’s back; no one knew what she was thinking.

The group saw Amy wouldn’t wake anytime soon.

They moved to the edge of the dark prison.

Even though the Shadow Mage was dead, his spell remained active—the witch inside was still draining her magic.

Luo De could feel her aura weakening steadily.

“Pan Ni, can you break it?”

“I’m not skilled in shadow magic. Maybe it’ll fade on its own if we wait?”

“Can you be more professional?” Tally snapped.

“Sorry. My magical talent is almost entirely in summoning and corpse poison.”

Luo De drew 【Sword of Devotion】 and slashed at it.

The blade passed through without resistance—the dark prison had no substance, like air.

The Quekou on the blade was slowly healing; this sword would still accompany him.

“What about you, Tally? Shadow magic?”

“Actually, shadow magic is just one branch of the shadow school. If a true Night Elf were here, they might have a way.”

Pan Ni looked at her in confusion—aren’t you a Night Elf?

“Then we’ll force it—try using the 【Sickle Claw Reverse Edge】’s magical affinity.”

“Got it~”

Tally swung her massive scythe; the dark prison visibly rippled with instability.

“Good. Keep going.”

Soon, after dozens of strikes, the dark prison’s magic finally collapsed and vanished rapidly into the air.

The witch Demia fell to the ground.

Her eyes were tightly shut—clearly unconscious—with a massive blood wound in her abdomen, her breath faint, barely clinging to life.

The thought of using the enslavement rune flashed through Luo De’s mind.

But he quickly dismissed it.

A villain was one thing, but enslaving a witch with connections would bring trouble no less than the Igao Cult.

Still, pinching her baby-fat cheeks wouldn’t hurt.

“What? You like round faces?”

Tally pulled off her mask and puffed out her own baby fat.

“It’s about contrast, Tally—youthful, childish face paired with a mature body.”

“What about a mature face with a childish body? Can’t that work?”

“Hmm… not really.”

“I get it. It’s not about contrast—it’s about the mature body.”

Luo De thought seriously—and realized he had no good rebuttal.

After the six-rank brothers fell, the Brotherhood’s foot soldiers scattered immediately.

Now only the task of inventorying the spoils remained.

After Tally briefly sorted everything.

Cash income totaled a pitiful 300 Jin Along.

Of those, 299 came from the Shadow Mage’s spell satchel; even the Brotherhood members present—including the half-wolf Cassidi—barely had a single Jin Along between them.

“What kind of interdimensional beggar sect is this… this Ruins Brotherhood?” Luo De sighed.

As for Amy.

She had no spell satchel at all.

Probably Bishop Hugo was rich—but unfortunately, the Scorpion Woman Hera hadn’t brought back his corpse yet.

In short, cash was a loss.

But fortunately, items made up for it.

The Shadow Mage’s staff, spell record book, a series of magical potions, and two six-rank magic rings.

The half-wolf Cassidi had two spiritual arts.

One: 【Shadow Dash】, a speed-based skill.

The other: 【Gravity Chain】, which slows enemies.

Surprisingly, Cassidi also possessed a piece of mithril—a rare and valuable metal on the continent.

Plus a pile of small trinkets; Luo De didn’t bother examining them one by one now, just stuffed them all into the spell satchel.

But then.

For Luo De, the greatest gain was still enslaving the orc and the ghoul.

These items and spellbooks offered only limited boosts—enslavement runes remained his true foundation.

About half an hour later, Hera tossed down Bishop Hugo’s severed head.

No spell satchel.

“He self-destructed. I couldn’t stop him,” the Scorpion Woman shrugged.

Luo De quickly thanked the eighth-rank expert.

But she clearly had other matters to attend to and left soon after.

Not long after the Scorpion Woman departed, David arrived under cover of night, leading a group of constables and soldiers.

Though he’d prepared himself, the sight of the battlefield still startled him.

He exchanged glances with the officer beside him.

“Luo De, did I arrive too late?”

“You could say that. Or you could say you arrived just in time—to witness my glorious victory.”

“Go to hell.”

Then he realized Yanqiande man had slain six-rank warriors.

He muttered grudgingly: “You won’t beat me up, will you, Luo De?”

“Of course not.”

The two chatted for a while.

David grew serious: “Thank you again for saving Shi Ying Town, Mr. Luo De. Without you, no one knows what might have happened.”

“It wasn’t just me—the forest allies contributed greatly.”

Viviann had already taken Amy back to the forest.

Pan Ni’s appearance was frightening, and she should’ve returned too—but the Tree Spirit expelled her, claiming her corpse poison would harm the trees, so now she waited alone outside the forest for Luo De’s call.

“Of course, I’ve heard everything—including about that eighth-rank lord. I’ll report all this truthfully to City Hall. I’m sure they’ll petition the Kingdom for proper rewards.”

The battlefield wasn’t sealed; after Shi Ying Town’s defeat, scouts were immediately dispatched—and word couldn’t be hidden.

Tally stepped forward, her back bearing the witch Demia.

“Lady Demia!”

David quickly ordered two female soldiers to take her.

“Also, this attack on Shi Ying Town wasn’t carried out by the Ruins Brotherhood alone—another organization was involved.”

Luo De pointed to a severed head.

“Who is this?”

“I don’t know him, but I’m certain he’s from the Igoh Sect.”

“Again, the Igoh Sect!” David snarled.

As the territory of the Argyle family, the Igoh Sect naturally spread propaganda against it.

Thus, the residents of Shi Ying Town deeply hated the Igoh Sect.
