Chapter 510: Summoning the Ten-Star Monster: Raven King Korax

~6 min read 1,087 words

The papyrus tarot card in Zhou Yun's hand depicted a vivid, lifelike black raven.

The raven was a shadowy form, sleek and swift, its black feathers and flesh interspersed with countless crimson eyes and pale skin.

This tarot card came from Kaya's collection of demonic tarot, but Kaya himself had never noticed its existence.

Not long ago, in the Terra Inquisition Fortress, Zhou Yun and Sanguinius used the Memory Projecting Hammer to observe Kaya's memories, witnessing Kaya's recollection of learning demonic arts from Luo Jia and being attacked by Korax.

Korax sensed the gaze passing through the memory, faintly perceiving the flow of fate and feeling the presence of Sanguinius and Zhou Yun in the future.

He did not know Zhou Yun's situation, but he recognized Sanguinius's scent; though he did not know what had happened in the future to cause Sanguinius's resurrection, Korax still planted a seed within Kaya.

He silently split himself, slipping one of his countless ravens into one of Kaya's demonic tarot cards, establishing contact with the present-day Zhou Yun and Sanguinius.

Ye Bi Daxiong hurled the demonic tarot card from his hand; the papyrus burned to ash in midair, and the raven burst forth from the card, flying like a black arrow past the Lion's shoulder, slicing past Khaen and Raum, and directly striking Luo Jia as he emerged from the Warp, in Airebas's stunned gaze.

Luo Jia saw the black raven, his pupils contracting sharply, his eyes filled with cowardice and terror—he recognized the scent on that raven, the scent he feared, a part of Him.

"I normally summon a one-star monster, 'Korax's Raven.'"

Zhou Yun's will, dwelling within Ye Bi Daxiong, grinned:

"Then, release 'Korax's Raven' from the field to specially summon the ten-star monster, 'Raven King Korax!'"

As if to echo Zhou Yun's words, the hellish Warp region deep within Luo Jia was suddenly cloaked in dark clouds; the crimson, brown-green, You blue, and deep purple sky above was obscured by shadow.

Then, the dark cloud violently opened thousands of crimson eyes, gazing down from the heavens upon the Warp.

"Luo Jia!!!!"

The furious roar shook both the material and Warp dimensions; its power was so immense even the Lion trembled in awe.

"Korax?!" Lyne cried out in shock and disbelief—he recognized the dark cloud as his gene-brother, the Primarch of the Night Lords, Korax.

How the hell did he look like he'd ascended to daemonhood? Even more twisted, abstract, and formless than those few daemon Primarchs.

"I told you, I remembered your scent—I will hunt you to death!!!"

The voice laced with hatred drowned out all else; with Ye Bi Daxiong's released raven as a beacon, Korax finally caught Luo Jia once more.

A chorus of harsh, guttural caws rose as the cloud above exploded into millions of ravens, descending from the sky with black lightning, slamming into Luo Jia.

The raven released by Ye Bi Daxiong rejoined the flock, joining the assault on Luo Jia.

Luo Jia, terrified, raised his Light of Enlightenment; billions of turbid beams flashed upward, striking the flock of ravens.

But it was meaningless—the ravens were shadows, lacking physical form; in an instant, they passed through Luo Jia's attack and lunged at him.

As if an invisible great blade had slashed through him, Luo Jia's chest was violently torn open, blood gushing forth.

The runes of the Word Armor instantly coalesced into a shield, attempting to resist the flock's assault.

But it was meaningless—a bolt of black lightning shot from the ravens, striking the rune-shield with force; the burning runes shattered in an instant.

Simultaneously, the Raven King took form.

The Primarch, whose face was as pale as winter snow, whose black hair was like a starless midnight, planted one foot upon Luo Jia's chest.

Korax wore black power armor, his back bearing steel wings shaped like raven feathers, his arms ending in grotesque talons.

"I am vengeance. I am the redemption of justice. I am rebellion. I am your undertaker."

"Luo Jia! Look up! Welcome death!!!" "Do you think I'm still the same as before, Korax?! I am constantly advancing—I am no longer the same—"

The talons tore through; Luo Jia's horned head flew into the air.

Then, in an instant, the body of the Great Word-Bearer burst into flames, transforming into a swirling pyre of runes, fleeing desperately from beneath Korax, racing away.

But the Raven King would not allow him to escape; a faint, shifting, black domain appeared within the Warp, as immense energies from the heavens poured into Korax's body.

In an instant, all present seemed to witness a black supernova erupting within the Warp, releasing black light that engulfed everything.

Beneath this light, the fragile link between the Warp and the Blessed Lady ship shattered completely, vanishing in an instant, leaving only a psychic explosion that tore the bridge into chaos; the statue of Luo Jia turned to dust.

Airebas screamed in terror, thrown back by the psychic blast, crashing hard into the corner of the room, his flesh bruised and aching.

The blood tide formed by the Khorne demons was purged entirely beneath Khaen's ever-burning Emperor's Flame; the vengeful figure, drenched in blood, flapped his wings and turned toward Airebas.

Death was at hand.

Airebas held his breath—but then, the ritual he had inscribed on the Blessed Lady ship to unite the three relics suddenly began to flow on its own, as if some will were guiding its progression.

Suddenly, Airebas's will established contact with another will.

Airebas felt the world before him twist and shift, his vision tunneling through the deep chambers of the Monolith, finally settling in a chamber even the Dark Angels Chapter itself did not know existed.

There stood a massive spherical device, faint electric sparks flickering within, constantly tearing through reality and space; an iron tube extended from it, inserted into the body of a thin, barefoot child.

The child's eyes glowed white, staring at Airebas.

The Tuchacha Engine, one of the Ancient Ones' three relics.

This relic had been found by the Lion during the Heresy and had remained stored in the deepest vaults of the Monolith Fortress since the end of the rebellion.

Airebas's face lit up with joy—the Tuchacha Engine could create rifts linking time and space, allowing free travel across the galaxy.

If he wished, he could rescue himself.

"Take me away—I'll help you unite them!" Airebas shouted at the Tuchacha Engine.

The child's corpse connected to the Tuchacha Engine gave a slight nod.

"Good."
