Chapter 416: Look in My Sanguinius, Tell Me!

~9 min read 1,752 words

Many in this galaxy could be called protagonists.

The Emperor himself is a dragon-slaying overpowered character; most of the Primarchs could also be called male leads from the start; among the ordinary Astartes there are Titus, Sicarius, and Calth, these walking cheats; among mortals there are figures like the veteran Commissar Yarrick, Cain, and the legendary Inquisitor Eisenhorn.

But if Zhou Yun were to think of someone in the Chaos faction who could be called a male lead, Zhou Yun's first reaction would not be Abaddon, but Abaddon's good brother, Ka'Bandha.

Iskandar Ka'Bandha, a member of the Thousand Sons legion of Prospero's people, an existence that could be called a Japanese light novel male lead.

He has a ship-girl sister, a tsundere Dark Eldar girlfriend, his own warband, and a powerful, loyal wolf-type guardian spirit.

He even has a deck of cards with maximum coolness; every card seals a demon, among which even the Blood God's Bloodthirster is sealed.

He also accumulated vast wealth through his sorcerous arts within the Eye of Terror, truly a winner in life.

So how was the life of the life-winner and light-novel male lead Ka'Bandha destroyed?

So why is Ka'Bandha today captured by the Inquisition, his limbs broken, his psychic power drained, and his eyes gouged out?

The answer is that Ka'Bandha joined the Black Legion, recognized Abaddon as his brother, let his sister become the Revenge Spirit to accompany Abaddon from the First Black Crusade to the Twelfth, and established glorious military achievements.

Then, on the eve of the Thirteenth Black Crusade, Ka'Bandha stood at the Inquisition's door and surrendered himself.

The reason he surrendered was that Abaddon ordered him to surrender to the Inquisition, because Abaddon required him to declare on Terra, in the core of the Human Imperium: "The Crimson Path is about to unfold, Abaddon is about to arrive at Terra, and will destroy the entire Imperium."

Then Abaddon will ride his sister over, destroy the Human Imperium, release Ka'Bandha on the ruins of Terra, and share in the great undertaking with him.

Not to mention how Abaddon, in a sudden whim, gave away his strongest subordinate, perhaps currently the second strongest sorcerer of the Thousand Sons, to the Imperium, just to satisfy his own verbal itch.

The fact that Ka'Bandha himself actually obeyed this order is very puzzling; one can only suspect whether this poor child was tricked and misled by Abaddon.

Zhou Yun could only sigh: better to be Abaddon's enemy than Abaddon's brother.

The Human Imperium, which was Abaddon's enemy, still existed after the Thirteenth Black Crusade, and even began to flourish.

And Abaddon's own father, who was Abaddon's brother, was killed by Abaddon's own hand; his second father Horus was sent by him into the temple; his good brother Loken was killed by Erebus while Abaddon stood by and did nothing.

Of course, the most miserable is Ka'Bandha; now his Dark Elf girlfriend is dead, his guardian spirit has been banished back to the Warp, the demon deck he painstakingly collected has been stolen, his own sister is being ridden by Abaddon everywhere, his limbs are broken, and his psychic power is drained.

He can only blindly fantasize in the Inquisition that when the Black Legion's heavenly soldiers arrive, they will welcome the Warmaster; that he can make Ma Genusi kneel with just a glance; that the era of the Primarchs has ended, and so on.

Looking at Ka'Bandha lying on the ground with all his bones shattered, Zhou Yun instantly felt a malicious whim.

"Is it my lord Ka'Bandha?"

Zhou Yun's fingers swept over the heated clapperboard and robot director, and he spoke with a voice full of surprise:

"Is it Abaddon's good brother, the Blade of the Black Legion, the greatest sorcerer of the Thousand Sons, the Breaker of Kings, the Black Ka'Bandha?"

"Who are you?" Ka'Bandha, whose vision had been completely deprived, asked while writhing his broken body.

"I, I am just a new recruit, a new recruit who admires you and my lord Abaddon! Oh! Long live the Warmaster!" Zhou Yun pretended to stammer as he spoke.

He only said "new recruit," not which new recruit; he only said "admires," not what he admires; he only said "Warmaster," not which Warmaster.

"A new recruit? Are you a warrior of the Black Legion?" A hint of joy leaked into Ka'Bandha's voice: "Has the Warmaster come to Terra?"

"Yes, my lord, yes, the Warmaster is right here on Terra." Zhou Yun nodded repeatedly and said earnestly.

His tone was so sincere and reliable that it instinctively generated trust.

"Ahahaha! Ahahaha!!"

Ka'Bandha laughed out loud, his shattered chest heaving up and down:

"I long ago told the shallow and ignorant of the Imperium that the unfolding of the Crimson Path is unstoppable, the Warmaster's footsteps are unstoppable, and the Imperium's destruction is unstoppable."

"New recruit, tell me, where is our great Warmaster now? Has he already stormed the Palace and slain the False Emperor?"

"Oh, my lord Abaddon is very close to us." Zhou Yun said leisurely: "He is in the cell next to ours, just captured together with me."

Ka'Bandha's laughter stopped abruptly.

The Inquisition representative Els standing beside Zhou Yun could no longer hold it back and couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Even a slight smile involuntarily appeared on the corner of Sanguinius's mouth.

"You are lying to me! Inquisitor!" Ka'Bandha, furious with shame, angrily shouted: "Do you think such small tricks can shake my faith?"

"Is it that my lord Abaddon is unstoppable, and you have already begun to panic?"

"Abaddon is now riding your sister, who has been torn to pieces by Nurgle's plants, somewhere half-dead." Zhou Yun spoke the truth.

That was indeed torn to pieces; the last time Zhou Yun saw Ka'Bandha's sister, which was the Revenge Spirit, she had already begun to grow Nurgle's flowers and cabbages on her.

"How dare you insult the Warmaster like this." Ka'Bandha gritted his teeth; if his eyes had not been gouged out, he would certainly be glaring fiercely at Zhou Yun right now.

This actually made Zhou Yun a bit speechless.

Ka'Bandha's first reaction was actually to care that Zhou Yun had insulted Abaddon, rather than caring about his own sister, or caring about what Nurgle would do to the Revenge Spirit.

"Do you trust Abaddon that much?" Zhou Yun asked softly.

"Shallow and ignorant ones, you do not see the Warmaster's righteousness reaching the clouds, you do not understand the Warmaster's generosity, you do not know the Warmaster's strength."

Ka'Bandha said disdainfully:

"The Warmaster treats me like a brother, even giving me the crystal produced by Sanguinius's broken sword and his death echo; I naturally must repay him with loyalty and brotherhood."

"And the Warmaster's strength is something you cannot understand; in this era where all the Primarchs have completely disappeared, who else can match Abaddon?"

"You few are nothing but earth chickens and clay dogs before my lord Abaddon."

Only after Ka'Bandha said this did Zhou Yun remember that Abaddon claimed that anyone who died on the Revenge Spirit would linger on it in the form of a crystal, and Sanguinius was the same.

Then Abaddon gave that crystal, along with fragments of Sanguinius's sword, to Ka'Bandha, and Ka'Bandha melted and forged it into a power sword.

Hmm, at least in the Inquisition's records, Ka'Bandha confessed this.

But in the content of Ka'Bandha's confession, there were also absurd contents such as a demon Primarch kneeling before Abaddon and Ka'Bandha, and Ka'Bandha making Ma Genusi kneel.

Zhou Yun couldn't help but turn his head to look at Sanguinius beside him, and then looked at the Sword of Blood at Sanguinius's waist.

What Abaddon gave you was Sanguinius and Sanguinius's sword.

Then what is standing beside me? Horus and his Worldbreaker Warhammer?

Look in my Sanguinius, tell me! Why!?

"If the era of the Primarchs has ended, if Abaddon gave you Sanguinius's Death Echo, then what am I?"

"If my Crimson Sword had also been given to you by him, then what hangs at my waist?"

Sanguinius spoke slowly and deliberately, taking a single step forward.

Khayon was slightly stunned; Sanguinius's clear voice made him tremble instinctively.

"Who are you?" Khayon growled, as if sensing something.

"Iskandar Khayon, son of Ma Genusi, raise your head and look at me with your blind eyes."

Sanguinius gently spread his wings, and light instantly flooded the originally dark cell, shining brightly as if under the sun.

"Ahhh!!!"

Khayon raised his head and let out a sharp wail; blood streamed from his blind eyes, and the ruined eyeballs within his pitch-black sockets seemed ignited by fire.

Khayon saw it; amidst the utter darkness, he saw it,

that glorious, blinding, magnificent, holy figure, those spread pure wings, that psychic power shining like the morning sun.

Pain and fear surged endlessly from within Khayon; Khayon felt every single nerve in his body was about to melt under that glory.

His eyes remained blind, yet his sight now beheld the light.

As a veteran of the Great Crusade who had once witnessed the Primarchs in person, Khayon recognized that glory.

On Ullanor, as a member of the Thousand Sons Legion, Khayon had once seen that glory from afar.

At that time, he had already been the Great Angel, while Khayon was merely a warrior of the Thousand Sons' Wolf Pack.

"Sanguinius!"

Khayon cried out almost like a sob, his voice filled with pain and disbelief:

"How could you! The age of the Primarchs should have ended! How could you be standing here?!"

"Friend, obviously, the version has been updated, and you failed to keep up." Zhou Yun stood aside, looking at Khayon with a touch of pity.

"But Abaddon promised me! The Warmaster promised me! How could this be!" Khayon roared in anger, pain, and struggle all at once.

Just then, Sanguinius waved his hand slightly; fire erupted from Khayon's eyes, and his previously gouged-out eyes instantly regained their light.

Khayon stared blankly at Sanguinius, at that figure seemingly stepping out from the past years.

Sanguinius gently fluttered his wings a few times, as if showing himself to Khayon.

Then Sanguinius reached out and patted the Crimson Sword at his waist.

"I have always been in the Warp; my sword was recovered by the Blood Angels long ago." His voice was extremely gentle.

Khayon, however, felt a sense of suffocation.

"Abaddon lied to me?"

"Impossible?! How could he?!"

"He couldn't have lied to me!? Impossible?!"
