Chapter 680: I am ultimately unable to compare to the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang
The wisdom revealed in the Source Blood Stack made Fabius Bile feel terrified.
His fingers were trembling slightly, looking in disbelief at the power seeping out from those holy gene sequences.
At this very moment, Fabius Bile finally unraveled the mystery in his heart.
Why were the Primarchs he cloned identical to the true Primarchs in genes and even memories, yet always unable to rival the true Primarchs?
The physical body was not everything about a Primarch... Fabius looked at the power seeping out from the Source Blood Stack.
The Source Blood Stack did not just store the sequences of the twenty-one Primarchs; it also stored samples of twenty kinds of power from the Warp.
Fabius extracted a trace of it.
Like fire, like ice, like a roaring pack of wolves, like a blizzard in the north, like the Kraken in the deep sea, like the molten giant god in the depths of the earth's marrow, like the King of the Dead leading the army in the wild hunt of late autumn...
It was a primitive and wild trend of thought, a microcosm of the world of ice, fire, and giant beasts, a fascinating experiment of the Golden Age reconstructing ancient myths.
Fabius vaguely saw some ancient memories, saw psychics and researchers of the Golden Age standing on a desolate planet full of ice and snow.
They completed the reconstruction of ancient myths on this planet, awakening the primitive worship of all living things for natural phenomena such as ice and fire, storms and mountains, beasts and thunder, and drew that power from the Warp.
Then...
Fabius watched as humans let out savage screams, watched as manes grew out on their bodies, sharp claws grew on their hands and feet, and they turned into wild wolves on the snow.
He saw gods born in the celestial realm, raising wine glasses and laughing wildly, saw giant beasts born in the sea, ghosts sprouting in the earth, cold winds freezing the world sea, rolling toward the sea of stars and the sea of souls.
But a traveler cloaked in a gray-brown robe, standing in the cold, suddenly appeared on the snowfield. Magnificent psychic power overflowed from his body, sealing the entire planet, constraining the cold wind within it, turning it into a cage and a prison.
"This place is the cage of wolves," the traveler declared, and then disappeared into the cold wind.
No human witnessed this scene, but the cold wind never forgot, the mountains never forgot, the wolves never forgot. The planet was a legend, and the legend recorded everything. The traveler had his place in the myth, and his name was often heard in the blizzard: "All-Father."
Fabius felt his nerves go numb and his head swell. His brain allowed him to quickly understand what he had just seen.
An out-of-control experiment of the Golden Age, things drawn down from the Warp, that traveler... "All-Father," or rather, the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang, constrained those out-of-control things on the land of Fenris.
Fabius stared at the twenty samples of Warp existences residing within the Primarch gene sequences.
The physical body was just a container; what was truly important was the Warp. Long before the Primarchs were born into the reality universe, they had already existed in the Warp.
They were disorderly storms, primitive tendencies and desires, never tamed, never truly born, but the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang constrained them, sent them into flesh-and-blood shells, put on them a mask called human, and endowed them with intellect.
Those superstitious mortals called Primarchs demigods, and Fabius often mocked them, but now it seemed that there was some truth in the superstition.
Even in a certain sense—————even though Fabius was unwilling to admit it—————Primarchs were gods.
The more Fabius studied the Source Blood Stack, the more he was amazed by the Hua Hua Hua Di Huang's boldness, madness, wisdom, and extraordinary creativity. And in the process of studying, Fabius vaguely saw some things he couldn't see before.
He saw some threads, threads like a spider web, gathering from all parts of this ship and among the stars, circling around him.
Each of those threads was connected to a New Man created by Fabius. Their thoughts, their emotions, their faith were all gathered on Fabius.
Fabius turned his head slightly, looking behind him, looking at his projection in the Empyrean.
He saw that huge cocoon. It was based on the blight spread by the Selene Gene Cult on the moon years ago, mixed with the faith that those New Men and Fabius's creations had in him, and it had grown constantly.
Pater Mutatis—Fabius's creations called this thing that, believing this was Fabius's essence.
Fabius suddenly realized that It was growing bit by bit into the appearance of a Primarch before birth, only much weaker than a Primarch.
But he could still use the technology in the Source Blood Stack to mold himself, allowing himself to be born again in a form close to a Primarch. He could become a new Primarch...
A slight tremor came, and a sense of falling and weightlessness enveloped Fabius Bile. The cocoon suspended above Fabius's body also became closer to Him in an instant.
Fabius knew that just a moment ago, he and this ship had passed through the veil between reality and the Warp, entering the Warp.
This was a common occurrence; for ten thousand years, Fabius Bile had long been accustomed to Warp travel.
But this time, Fabius gently put down the experimental equipment in his hand.
He sensed something wrong.
Quiet, too quiet. How could the Warp be this quiet?
It was as if he hadn't entered the turbulent Warp, but had been submerged in a mass of pitch-black shadow.
Bile's face became slightly solemn. He walked out of his laboratory and came to the ship's corridor.
The ship was eerily quiet; almost no sound could be heard. Whether it was the sound of machinery operating or the footsteps of Fabius's creations, they had all disappeared without a trace.
Fabius approached the ship's observation window with some vigilance.
Outside the window, the Geller field bubble was flashing and twisting crazily, as if it were desperately resisting something outside.
But outside the Geller field, there was nothing.
No turbulent waves in the Empyrean, no eerie lights, no twisted wills, only darkness, deep darkness, thorough shadow.
Fabius stared at that mass of shadow, and he heard it.
It wasn't silence all around; it was just that all sounds were drowned out by the roar of the shadow.
It was a hungry, greedy, crazy, and twisted roar. It yearned to eat, yearned to eat everything in this world.
It roared, it screamed, it constantly tore at the Geller engine with its sharp claws, trying to swallow the blood in the Source Blood Stack and seize the gene sequence.
It was the Warp shadow; It was the Hive Mind.
Fabius's breathing almost stopped. His ship had actually sailed directly into the Warp shadow, crashing head-on into the Hive Mind.
How could this be... Fabius's will stalled.
His thinking moved slightly, connecting to his ship, and as he expected... the Warp engine had gone out of control. ===== CHAPTER 681 =====
