Chapter 208: Asking Kamikawa Mitsu for Help
Night fell, and evening arrived.
After finishing her shift, Likui walked out of the maid café, looked up at the night sky, and murmured:
"So Kamikawa-kun isn't interested in me because he saw through my Void Demon identity."
Having learned of Kamikawa Mitsu's identity that morning, Likui was shaken, and then suddenly recalled—if Kamikawa Mitsu was Transcendent, then it was possible he had come into close contact with her, sensed her identity, and therefore had no interest in her.
Knowing her Void Demon identity, naturally he wouldn't be interested.
The possibility was high.
Having worked this out, Likui didn't show much disappointment; instead, she felt a certain spirited pride.
Looks like my charm hasn't diminished at all.
At the same time, Likui was even more moved—Kamikawa Mitsu knew her identity yet still befriended her, which meant he didn't discriminate against or look down on her for being an experimental subject. Unknowingly, she had made a Transcendent friend.
Lost in thought, Likui arrived at Higashio Dashan.
"Hm? This?!"
Likui thought she was dreaming and rubbed her eyes hard before confirming that the mud-pool vortex before her was real.
How could a passage suddenly appear? It definitely couldn't have appeared out of thin air—who had opened it?
With astonishment, just as Likui reached out to touch the mud-pool vortex—
"Void Demon script!"
A glance from the corner of her eye caught characters carved into a stone beside the mud-pool vortex, and she froze.
"Mo Lingling has come to this world too, and is looking for me?"
The content on the stone was simple—written specifically for Likui, hoping that after seeing it she would stay here and wait a while; Mo Lingling would come find her in the middle of the night. The key point emphasized was that she wasn't here to hunt Likui down, but had important business with her.
"Important business with me?"
Likui was puzzled, but Mo Lingling was her only friend in the Void Demon realm, so the other wouldn't harm her. She decided to stay and wait for Mo Lingling.
Out of caution, Likui didn't wait on the spot but chose to hide nearby, so she could escape in time if the situation changed.
Until the middle of the night.
Soft rustling footsteps, grass blades being pushed aside—watching intently, a figure approached. Likui, hidden not far away, immediately recognized the newcomer: it was her friend Mo Lingling.
Mo Lingling walked over with a worried expression, looked at the mud-pool vortex, saw no one around, and grew even more worried.
She had spent the whole day gathering information, learning a lot about this world, but still had no news of the Creator. Seeing the sky darken toward the time she'd left a message for Likui, she could only rush back with hope, hoping to get some news of the Creator from Likui.
Standing in place until the latter half of the night, seeing still no one come, Mo Lingling muttered to herself.
"Looks like Likui hasn't been to Higashio yet and didn't see the message I left. Fine, I'll keep going to gather more information—"
She didn't plan to waste time here. Several hours had passed beyond the appointed time; her meaning was clear—she would return to Higashio every night at midnight to wait for Likui. That way she wouldn't miss Likui, and it wouldn't delay her information gathering.
Just as she turned to leave, Likui—who had cautiously observed for a long time, confirmed Mo Lingling was alone with no other helpers, and noted her changing expression didn't seem like someone here to hunt—stepped out.
"Lingling."
"Hm?" Mo Lingling was stunned for a moment, then overjoyed: "Likui!!"
She flung herself at Likui, very happy.
Truly, just when one road ends, another opens. She'd thought Likui hadn't come to Higashio and was already disappointed, prepared to wait some more days—but Likui had appeared.
After a round of catching up after their long separation, Mo Lingling didn't forget the main topic.
"Looking for the Creator?"
Likui was baffled, not understanding—why on earth come looking for the Creator? Could it be she wanted to acknowledge her ancestors and return to the fold?
As Mo Lingling explained, Likui was astonished.
"Likui, you've been in this world for a while—do you know the Creator? It's fine if you don't. Do you know where he is? I'm going to find him now." Mo Lingling's eyes were full of urgency.
Before she arrived in this world, the titans of the Void Demon realm had expanded the war, spreading it into the Void Domain, using the chance to ambush three of the opposing Kings—killing two and gravely wounding one. After that battle, the two sides were locked in a fight to the death.
It could be foreseen that if the great war continued, neither side's Kings would be able to sit still any longer. If the opposing side truly had a terrifying existence beyond the Kings and called them out, the Void Demon realm would be finished.
So Mo Lingling understood: the sooner she found the Creator to help, the more it would reduce the Void Demon realm's crisis.
"I don't know where the Creator is."
Learning the full story, Likui shook her head and said apologetically.
"The Creator made a pact with Tamamo-no-Mae—he has to slay three thousand gods and demons on the Primordial Battlefield before he can return. Don't think about going to the Primordial Battlefield to find the Creator. Not only do I not know where that place is, but even if I did, I couldn't let you go. It's a place only gods and demons are qualified to enter.
Lingling, you've been in this world for a day and managed to learn that the Primordial Battlefield is where gods and demons wage war, but what you don't realize is that the weakest gods and demons are at the level of your father. If you went, forget finding him—you'd probably be killed before walking a single li, so how could you possibly find the Creator?"
Then.
Likui patiently explained the horror of the Primordial Battlefield to Mo Lingling—the battles of the gods there—and even took out her phone to pull up a video of the fallen King, showing her the footage of Quetzalcoatl once summoning the vision of the Primordial Battlefield, and the scene of him battling God.
Mo Lingling watched, her face going deathly pale, nearly scared to death.
At first she thought Likui was exaggerating—after all, when people talk about powerful people or things, they often unintentionally exaggerate.
But seeing the video footage, Mo Lingling realized Likui's words weren't exaggerated at all—they were actually quite understated.
Holy shit, where was it that the weakest gods and demons were at her father's level? It was that her father, if he went to the Primordial Battlefield, would just be a rank-and-file soldier. In other words, her father was cannon fodder on the Primordial Battlefield.
Once again, Mo Lingling's understanding of this world was refreshed.
A dignified titan of the Void Demon realm, and it turns out he's cannon fodder…
Just then.
Likui suddenly said.
"Finding the Creator to help is impossible, and finding Lord Cimu to help is also impossible. But I have a friend who might be able to help us find some assistance."
Her expression was somewhat hesitant; she thought for a long time.
Mo Lingling's eyes lit up at once: "Really?! You, in this world…"
Likui raised a hand to cut her off: "Let me be clear first—I'm not sure if my friend will help me. At most, I'll ask on your behalf."
"Okay, no problem. Asking is one more hope. Even if they refuse, it's fine—you have to try."
Mo Lingling now wanted to try everything, and had already steeled herself: if Likui's friend refused to help, she would go beg the only extraordinary member of the Kamikawa family she could find.
"By the way, Likui, who is your friend? Are they really something? Judging by your look, your friend seems to have no small background in this world. Not bad on you — you only just arrived and you're already getting around."
"You're overthinking it. In this world, I haven't even managed to get by, let alone mingle — I've been too busy hiding. I only met my friend by sheer chance."
Even as she spoke, Likui opened her LINE friends list on her phone.
"You should know my friend, right? His news is all over the streets today — it's that Kamikawa family member, Kamikawa Mitsu."
"Huh?!!!"
