Chapter 209: Script System Triggered
Mo Lingling stared, dumbfounded, almost thinking she'd hallucinated.
Kamikawa Mitsu?!! That Kamikawa Mitsu—the descendant of Ashiya Dōman, the archenemy of Japan's famed first onmyōji, Abe no Seimei?!!
This is Ashiya Dōman's descendant—by the standards of the Void Demon Realm, the offspring of a top-tier power, direct bloodline.
For a moment, Mo Lingling's beautiful face twitched.
How could you even call being friends with someone like him "getting by"? What counts as "getting by"? Ryuki, do you have some misunderstanding about what "getting by" means?
"Are you his woman?" Mo Lingling blurted out instantly.
In her view, for Ryuki to get close to a descendant of such a towering figure, she must have offered herself—otherwise, how else could they be friends?
Ryuki, who had just sent a message to Kamikawa Mitsu, nearly dropped her phone.
Then she typed while explaining.
She naturally understood what Mo Lingling meant—in fact, if she were Mo Lingling, she'd think the same.
"What are you thinking? It's not like that—I just met Kamikawa Mitsu when Senie came to the shop during my shift."
Ryuki didn't mention the embarrassing truth—joking, she was a prominent figure in the Void Demon Realm; how could she reveal such a humiliating detail?
At the same time, the message was sent.
……
Tokyo, Japan, Arakawa Ward, apartment.
Ding-dong.
Kamikawa Mitsu received Ryuki's message, opened it, and froze.
【Kamikawa-kun, I heard you're Ashiya Dōman's descendant—so impressive!】
【Fidgeting-with-fingers. jpg, um… could I ask you something? Have you already figured out my identity? If you have, could you help me? If not, never mind.】
【Also, sorry—I didn't mean to hide my identity, it's just too unusual, I had to conceal it.】
Looking at Ryuki's message, Kamikawa Mitsu was baffled.
Why are you suddenly revealing your identity to me when I haven't even told you mine? And help?
The next moment.
Kamikawa Mitsu sent her a message.
【You don't need to apologize—I'm the one who should say sorry. I've hidden my identity too. Let's not talk about that. Is there something you need me to help with?】
He had no intention of hiding it; after spending these days together, he already regarded Ryuki as a friend—friends didn't need to conceal such things.
Besides, since she'd already revealed hers, there was no point in him continuing to hide.
He was also curious—what kind of matter could make Ryuki reveal her identity to him?
Higashio Dashan.
Ryuki received the message and silently thought, So it was as I expected—but she felt no disappointment, nor did she harbor any resentment toward Kamikawa Mitsu; his reply came quickly, just like hers—a friend's honest revelation.
【I need your help with something very important—it's complicated, hard to explain over Line. Let's meet in person. Where are you now? I'll come to you.】
【Let me come to you.】
Kamikawa Mitsu didn't want Senie to know about this.
【I'm at Higashio Dashan—where the Void Demon Realm's portal to this world opens.】
Upon receiving the message, Kamikawa Mitsu raised an eyebrow.
Is she trying to return to the Void Demon Realm? Asking me to help open the portal?
To avoid letting Senie know, Kamikawa Mitsu leapt straight out the window of his room and flew toward Higashio Dashan.
But when he arrived at Higashio Dashan and saw Ryuki, he realized his guess was wrong.
"Void Demon."
Kamikawa Mitsu was surprised—Ryuki was accompanied by another Void Demon, and the portal was already open.
"Hello, Kamikawa-kun, I'm Mo Lingling." Mo Lingling greeted Kamikawa Mitsu with the Japanese etiquette Ryuki had described.
Not long after.
Kamikawa Mitsu listened as Ryuki and Mo Lingling recounted the events of the Void Demon Realm—he understood, yet was stunned.
The Void Demon Realm has been invaded?
The cause: Master Konghai's palm strike stirred a terrifying entity from another world.
Isn't this my fault?
Just as Kamikawa Mitsu was about to respond, the system—long silent, he'd almost thought he'd accidentally broken its trigger function—suddenly chimed with its long-absent alert.
Ding! Script System activated.
Ding! Script System triggered—villain identified. Host, write the corresponding script and complete it.
Kamikawa Mitsu froze.
The system script has triggered again? Finally—I thought it was broken.
Kamikawa Mitsu's expression shifted from stunned to bewildered; Ryuki and Mo Lingling noticed it instantly, growing tense—could Kamikawa Mitsu be refusing to help? If he refuses, who else could they turn to?
Ryuki wasn't as tense as Mo Lingling; instead, she spoke bluntly: "Kamikawa-kun, if you're having trouble helping us, it's fine—we can find another way. You don't have to…"
Compared to the Void Demon Realm's plight, she feared more that Kamikawa Mitsu would get entangled in trouble—she didn't want to burden him.
"I'll help you," Kamikawa Mitsu cut in. "Don't worry—it's not difficult. A world invasion? No big deal. I wasn't hesitating—I was just thinking which world invaded you."
As he spoke, he whispered inwardly.
Let it begin with the Void Demon Realm—let this vast grand scheme spread outward.
Ryuki and Mo Lingling: "????"
Which world invaded us?
How could you possibly know that? How? Could it be…
Seeming to see what Likui and the others were thinking, Kamikawa Mitsu answered without hesitation, smiling as he spoke:
"You should already know this, right? There are actually many worlds. The world I am in, your Void Demon Realm, and the Fearful world that invaded you—besides these, there are many, many more worlds."
Likui and Mo Lingling nodded to show they understood.
The Void Demon Realm's sacrificial lord had once invaded other realms, so they were well aware that many worlds existed, not just the Void Demon Realm alone.
At this point, Kamikawa Mitsu continued.
"Then do you know how all these worlds came to be? There are two ways worlds come about. One is when an extremely powerful existence cleaves heaven and earth—in simpler terms, a powerful being creates a world, just like your Void Demon Realm."
"And the other way?" Likui and the others asked impatiently—this was a great secret they could not afford to miss.
"The other way is that fragments of the shattered Primordial World, after countless ages, evolved on their own into independent worlds. I was just wondering whether the world that invaded you was one that was created, or one that evolved from a fragment of the shattered Primordial World."
Primordial World fragments??
Likui and Mo Lingling looked utterly blank, not quite understanding.
What does the Primordial World mean? Is it the name of a world? If so, what kind of world could it possibly be—even just the shattered fragments of it evolved into world after world. How vast must that world have been, how terrifying.
"Can a world not evolve on its own—meaning a world begets itself?" Likui voiced her question.
That doesn't add up. If, as Kamikawa Mitsu said, worlds are born from the fragments of the shattered Primordial World and from powerful beings cleaving them open, then where did the Primordial World itself come from? It couldn't have been cleaved open by a powerful being—if it were, then all worlds would have been created by powerful beings, which would mean there wasn't two methods but only one.
Also—
Worlds give birth to all things; worlds themselves should be able to give birth as well.
Likui had lived in Japan for so long, and it wasn't only anime she watched—she had also learned about the various mythologies of this world. Some of those myths did say that worlds were conceived from chaos, that wind, water, fire, and earth evolved on their own, and that gods and the world were born together.
In this present age of the gods' return, why had Kamikawa Mitsu not mentioned this mythological way of world birth, and spoken of only two?
Just then—
Kamikawa Mitsu responded.
"It can, but this method of world birth ceased to exist long after the Primeval Era. The world can no longer give birth to new worlds."
