Chapter 210: What Happened Before the Primordial Era
"It ceased to exist before the Primordial Era??" Li Kui and Mo Lingling froze. (There was a typo at the end of yesterday's chapter — it should be 'before the Primordial Era,' not 'after the Primordial Era')
They looked at each other, both able to see the astonishment in the other's eyes.
What does it mean that it ceased to exist before the Primordial Era? Does it mean that before the Primordial Era, worlds could self-generate?
Why could they self-generate before the Primordial Era, but not afterward?
What caused worlds to stop self-generating? Was it man-made? Or was there some other reason?
If it was man-made, then what kind of terrifying existence could accomplish such a thing, and for what purpose?
And also…
Is the Origin Realm also a world? What kind of world? What caused the Origin Realm to shatter? Does the Origin have anything to do with worlds no longer being generated in the world?
If, following the earlier guess, it was man-made that caused worlds to be unable to generate, could the shattering of the Origin Realm also be the work of that great, terrifying existence?
They were perplexed; a curiosity-driven thirst for knowledge was wildly spreading in their hearts.
"The Origin Realm shattered, so does that mean the Origin Realm no longer exists? Which worlds evolved from the shattered fragments of the Origin Realm? It couldn't be… that this world is one evolved from a fragment of the Origin Realm, could it?"
Mo Lingling asked the question she was most curious about.
From Kamikawa Mitsu's words, they could both understand that the Origin Realm was probably no ordinary world — it must have had something special about it. Otherwise, how could its fragments evolve into worlds? It was one of the two methods of world generation before the Primordial Era.
Moreover, just hearing the two words 'Origin Realm,' they vaguely realized that perhaps the Origin Realm had already existed before the Primordial Era, and was a world that had self-generated.
Origin Realm? Origin World? The world of all beginnings? Primordial World?
Who knows?
But one thing is certain — the Origin Realm was definitely very powerful, far beyond comparison with the Void Demon Realm or the worlds that invaded the Void Demon Realm. And the worlds evolved from the shattered fragments of the Origin Realm are very likely immensely powerful, which made Li Kui and the others think of Earth.
Earth, compared to the Void Demon Realm, is nothing more than a tiny dot, yet it gave birth to myriad gods and demons, to brilliant myths — the Void Demon Realm simply cannot compare, not even a single hair on its body.
The chances are very high that such a special world was evolved from a fragment of the Origin Realm.
"The Origin Realm did shatter, but it did not shatter into complete disarray, with every piece evolving into a new world. The central source of the Origin Realm is still there — it did not break apart, did not evolve into a new world. Although everything has changed, it is still the Origin Realm; the history of old, the myths of old, all remain."
Kamikawa Mitsu said with a smile, looking at Li Kui and Mo Lingling.
"And this world is not a new world evolved from the shattered Origin Realm."
"It's not?"
"Of course not, because this world IS the Origin Realm."
Kamikawa Mitsu responded with a dashing flourish. Li Kui and Mo Lingling froze, feeling at that very moment as if their bodies, minds, spirits, souls, wills — everything — had been struck by a hammer blow from an ancient god, battered until dizzy, blasted until their minds went blank.
Li Kui and Mo Lingling forgot to breathe; even the Void Demon power within their bodies seemed to stall at that instant.
The next moment.
Two pairs of beautiful eyes widened hugely, eyeballs nearly bursting out. Such intense emotional turbulence nearly caused the Void Demon power within them to run amok and rampage, bringing them to the brink of deviation.
What the hell did I just hear?!!
Inside, Li Kui and Mo Lingling were furiously cursing, every strand of hair on their heads bristling with agitation. They stood there in disarray, going crazy, not a trace of the fierce demeanor of Void Demon Realm experts — they looked exactly like a shrew who just learned she was Jack Ma's long-lost sister: gone mad, hurling abuse in the streets, utterly hysterical.
"This world IS the Origin Realm!!!" the two cried out, heedless of their image.
Kamikawa Mitsu nodded and said,
"This world is indeed very special, possessing many powerful gods and myths.
But such a tiny place — can it really contain so many myths and gods? Can it really have so many myths, each with its own rich colors?
The myths of the North, Greece, Japan, Hua Country, and so on — each is rich with its own mythological history, and the starting points of many of these mythological histories are either worlds and gods being born, or gods creating heaven and earth. Every single one of these myths, taken out on its own, is a brilliance.
It cannot contain them all. How could such a tiny place possibly hold so many myths?"
At this point in his words, Kamikawa Mitsu gazed into the distance at the prosperity beyond Higashio Dashan. His pitch-black eyes shimmered with starlight, as if sun and moon were rising and sinking within them, as if starry universes were being gestated — as if he were looking across the great ocean, to the far shore of the great ocean, to every place beyond the great ocean.
"The Origin Realm of old was very, very vast — boundless, endless, with countless living beings. Even a god would find it difficult to walk from one end to the other. The mythological histories you know actually took place on Earth before the Primordial Era — that is, on the Origin Realm of old."
Li Kui and Mo Lingling stood there in a daze, unable to recover for a long time.
Mo Lingling's mouth was slightly agape, her eyes wide as she stood there, instinctively looking around at the four wilds — she was looking at this place, this world.
From what she had learned today, she knew the size of this world was utterly incomparable to the Void Demon Realm. She had been shocked that a small world had given birth to myriad gods and demons — but it turned out that wasn't the case. The world she had learned about was not the world's original appearance at all; it was the broken remnant.
The true original appearance of this world was far, far larger than the Void Demon Realm.
Unconsciously,
Mo Lingling was horrified and chilled to the bone. A great world — at the very least thousands, millions of times larger than the Void Demon Realm, perhaps even more, even vaster still, already beyond her imagination, indescribable — had actually shattered into just this small core piece remaining…
What on earth happened to the Origin Realm before the Primordial Era!!
The Origin Realm had actually been beaten into such a broken state.
What kind of mighty power would it take to smash the Origin Realm into such ruin, such utter devastation?
Could it have been a war of the gods?
Mo Lingling was shaken, terrified to the extreme.
Father was right — this world is too terrifying, it's not a place we can stay. Now she somewhat understood Li Kui's words, "I'm just lying low in this world." Indeed, one must lie low. Not only must one lie low, one must first leave a will — who knows if one day, when big shots fight, the shockwaves might blast her into oblivion.
She was trembling in fear, regretting that she should have left a will before coming to this world.
Mo Lingling shuddered at the thought of a world vast beyond measure being shattered into a tiny dot. However, Li Kui's thoughts differed from Mo Lingling's — she had stayed in this world longer than Mo Lingling and knew more.
Apart from Earth, this world actually also contained a cosmos so vast that no one has ever been able to measure its size.
In other words, what Mo Lingling had learned was only the size of Earth; she did not know about the cosmos beyond Earth.
The cosmos is vast — far larger than the Void Demon Realm. It's not just a few hundred times larger; it's already infinitely vast.
What if… this enormous cosmos is also part of the Origin Realm?
Or rather, when Kamikawa Mitsu said this world is the shattered Origin Realm, did he actually mean this vast cosmos and Earth?
Thinking of this, Li Kui's scalp went numb.
The cosmos beyond Earth is desolate, dead and still — not a single life-bearing planet. To this day, scientists using telescopes to observe planets, star systems, the solar system, have been unable to find any sign of life beyond Earth.
The cosmos is like a graveyard — a world filled with death, utterly devoid of any life, a dead, silent place, with only Earth remaining alive.
This scene was too terrifying — just thinking about it made one's hair stand on end.
