Chapter 321
All of these scenes.
Manifested behind the shadow of Qin Shi Huang emerging from Hangu Pass, shaking the hearts and spirits of all alien worlds and myriad races.
The next moment.
The shadow of Qin Shi Huang opened and closed his eyes, gazing at the massive hand pushing through time from downstream of the mist-shrouded river.
With just one glance, Qin Shi Huang's eternal, unmoving figure did not stir an inch; a divine light rose from his body and severed the hand outright, sending it tumbling into the River of Time, where it transformed into an entire cosmos.
Becoming a tributary of the river.
It was enough to make one's scalp go numb!
What level of existence could a severed palm evolve into a tributary cosmos?
This was the River of Time!
But even more terrifying was Qin Shi Huang—he remained utterly unmoved, and with a single glance, he severed the palm of that unimaginable horror.
"What level of cultivation must one reach to be this powerful?"
A great leader trembled as he spoke.
At that moment.
From downstream of the River of Time, within the mist, the one who had struck out flowed upstream—and finally appeared.
Earth, the Void Demon Realm, and all other realms held their breath, staring intently at this scene.
It was a dark lotus throne, ancient and weathered, upon which sat a man, majestic and heroic, his aura swallowing the cosmos, yet his eyes cold and emotionless, showing not a trace of feeling any living being should possess—as if he had lost all emotion, as if he were Heaven itself.
His left hand's severed stump bled endlessly, but soon a terrifying Dao was expelled, and in an instant, it restored to its original state.
"Qin Shi Huang, you are merely an imperial shadow incarnate—you cannot stop us from killing Him."
He rose to his full height, stepped down from the dark lotus throne, and crossed into the dried-up River of Time at the original battlefield, looking down upon all eras past and present, towering above all—wherever he stood, it was as if he stood upon the heavens.
Countless living beings trembled, eyes wide open.
Wait—did I hear that right? He said 'we'??
The next moment, a second, third, fourth… a total of seven supreme beings reversed the River of Time, arriving together—to break through the pass and invade the past!
"He must die!"
One of the supreme beings roared, shaking the River of Time, reversing time and space.
People froze.
Who is He?
To force seven supreme beings who transcend time and age to unite and kill Him—clearly, this He is no ordinary being.
But isn't the future supposed to obliterate the past? Why, then, are these seven supreme beings arriving not to destroy the past, but to target Him?
It seems likely that this He is of critical importance in this war between past and future, prompting these seven beings to come kill Him.
People thought so.
"What level are these seven? Ninth Step of the Gods? Or beyond Ninth Step of the Gods?"
Kamikawa Mitsu asked question after question, voice clear, a cigar clenched between his teeth, pretending to be calm.
His assistant glanced at Kamikawa Mitsu, who was pressing his trembling leg, and said slowly.
"How can an ant know whether an elephant is big or small? But regardless—whether they are Eighth or Ninth Step of the Gods, or beyond Ninth Step of the Gods—"
"These seven can transcend time and age. Even if not the strongest, they are certainly among the closest to the absolute peak."
At this, he unconsciously pondered.
"So… seven supreme beings, each nearly at the absolute peak, reversed the River of Time to surround and kill that He…"
The assistant did not continue—he was utterly chilled to the bone.
Many others lost their composure, their bodies turning icy, trembling uncontrollably.
How important is this He? How terrifying?
Looking down upon the ebb and flow of time, the rise and fall of eras—this was not metaphor, not boast—these seven supreme beings truly were doing exactly that.
Such beings emerge once in countless worlds, across countless ages—let alone seven of them.
Yet Qin Shi Huang remained utterly unmoved—how the supreme beings gazed upon the passage of time, how eternity endured, how they watched champions rise and fall generation after generation—Qin Shi Huang watched them the same way.
This made the world's eyes twitch violently.
Is Qin Shi Huang trying to provoke them on purpose?
And even more terrifying…
The imperial shadow of Qin Shi Huang spoke calmly.
"Even if I were not at Hangu Pass, there are still those who can stop you."
Then, the world followed his gaze to the River of Time behind Hangu Pass, to where a constant, eternal light had ignited.
"What era is this?"
Someone asked curiously, fixing their gaze on the segment of the River of Time glowing with light.
"It is our future era."
Professor Beishan stared at that segment of the River of Time, correlating it with the faint scenes he had glimpsed earlier in other parts of the river, and concluded this was an era that came after theirs.
This future era was not the "other side's" future.
It referred to the era following the one in which the people of this world lived—in their eyes, it was the future; but in the eyes of "the other side," it belonged to the past.
"We have reversed the past—who can stop us?"
One supreme being spoke, and instantly, all seven crossed toward Hangu Pass, aiming to enter the past.
The entire River of Time churned violently; earth, wind, water, and fire raged, and endless heavenly punishments capable of ending an age rained down—immortal beings would perish within it; too terrifying, too horrifying.
"What's happening?"
People were horrified—why was the River of Time attacking the seven supreme beings?
Could it be that the River of Time has a spirit?
But soon, Director Saito and the others looked toward Professor Beishan.
"I remember now. Professor Beishan, what you said earlier was right—Buddhism's conjecture that there must be a cause and a fruit, transcending the River of Time, is not wrong. Tracing back the River of Time, even changing the past, will summon a tremendous karmic consequence.
It isn't that the River of Time has a spirit; this is karma.
In the unseen workings of fate, even the heavens cannot tolerate him. Even if a Supreme Being comes, there is the risk of falling, and a great karmic consequence will descend."
Knowing that the River of Time attacks a Supreme Being is triggered by touching upon the karma within the Great Dao.
In other words, this is heavenly punishment—karmic heavenly punishment.
For a moment.
People could not help but be even more shaken and curious.
"Who exactly is that 'He,' worth seven Supreme Beings braving the descent of great karmic consequences to exterminate?"
The next moment.
"Karmic heavenly punishment? I am the heavens of this world—who dares to punish me?"
A Supreme Being roared, and the aura of the Great Dao shook the River of Time, shattering the heavenly punishment that could bring an epoch to an end.
Too powerful—just a single roar.
Even the karmic heavenly punishment that would make even the Immortals tremble in fear was shattered.
Sure enough, it's as expected—the seven Supreme Beings have nearly walked their paths to the very end, being among the closest to the strongest.
"Ignore Qin Shi Huang. His emperor's shadow cannot stop us. We don't have much time; we must find 'Him' as soon as possible. Once we annihilate Him, the great war between past and future will end."
This was a woman, so beautiful she didn't seem real, yet her voice was cold.
The people of the world were suddenly stunned.
The amount of information was too great, too shocking.
Even the titans, overlords, and big shots of every realm fell silent. The information was too vast, too terrifying, leaving people unable to calm down for a moment, unable to sort it out for a time.
Annihilate Him? End the great war between past and future!?!?!
