Chapter 69

"Biological control, using natural enemies to restrain them?"

Following Gao Yang's words, the officials in the Imperial Study were all dumbfounded.

Even Wu Zhao frowned, as if recalling the sage books she had read in the past, searching for the meaning of these two terms.

But even though she racked her brains, she couldn't think of these two terms at all.

Cui Xinghe also frowned tightly and asked, "What does this biological control that Magistrate Gao speaks of mean?"

"This method is simply unheard of."

Following Cui Xinghe's question, everyone's gaze gathered on Gao Yang.

Gao Yang said indifferently, "All things in the world grow and restrain each other. Whether it is locusts or other animals, they all have natural enemies. For example, mice fear cats, rabbits fear snakes, and insects fear frogs!"

"In a place, if a species starts to skyrocket, it must be because its natural enemies are too few."

"Although locusts are strange, they cannot escape this law. Biological control is based on this line of thinking."

Once these words were spoken.

Wu Zhao's eyes lit up. She was already intelligent and instantly understood Gao Yang's meaning.

"This line of thinking is quite interesting; perhaps it can really resolve the siege of Guanzhong!" Wu Zhao thought excitedly in her heart.

Her pair of phoenix eyes couldn't help but become increasingly fervent.

Not only Wu Zhao, but Cui Xinghe and Xu Xuanji were all looking at Gao Yang, waiting for his follow-up.

"Your Majesty, could I ask for a drink of water? I came in such a hurry that my mouth is a bit dry, and it just so happens I can organize my thoughts simply," Gao Yang said to Wu Zhao.

He had been wandering around all afternoon and had only sipped a bit of water at a restaurant before being dragged into the palace by Shangguan Wan'er, followed by another round of output; his throat felt like it was about to smoke.

Gao Feng's face turned black, "Unfilial son, drink after you finish speaking."

He was almost angered to the point of collapsing.

This was a great opportunity to show his face, and all the officials of Da Qian were listening, yet this unfilial son wanted to drink water.

The other officials also had black lines on their heads.

They had been attending court for so long, and this was the first time they had seen an official asking for water in the Imperial Study.

Wu Zhao waved her hand, "Grant him tea!"

Soon, a eunuch carefully brought over a pot of hot tea.

Gao Yang took the tea and sipped it again. It was worthy of being good tea in the palace; it was simply fragrant and extremely mellow.

Finding it delicious, Gao Yang sipped a few more times.

Wu Zhao: "..."

"Gao Yang, if you like this tea, I will reward you with some later. Now, quickly tell me how to do this biological control."

Gao Yang put down the teacup, knowing when to stop.

"There are two conditions for the formation of a locust plague. First, the quantity must be large enough, and they must be gray-black or yellow locusts. Second, they must gather together."

"And to achieve this, it has a close relationship with the weather. If there is no snow in winter, the eggs cannot be frozen to death. Then, if there is no rain in spring, it leads to drought on the land. They like dry conditions, while the birds that prey on locusts in the wild find it difficult to survive in a drought!"

"A decrease in natural enemies and suitable environmental conditions are the inevitable conditions for locusts to run rampant. We cannot change the drought, but we can increase the natural enemies of locusts in the wild."

Everyone fell into deep thought, only feeling that it made quite a bit of sense.

Gao Yang faced the officials in the Jin Luan Hall and looked at the beautiful Empress, saying, "Your Majesty, my plan is to collect fifty thousand chickens and ducks from the Changan area within one day, form a chicken and duck coalition army, and rush to Guanzhong."

"One chicken or duck can eat hundreds of locusts a day. Fifty thousand can eat fifty million locusts a day. Even if this is an ideal situation, I will halve it, and they can still eat tens of millions of locusts!"

"In ten days, at least hundreds of millions, or even several hundred million."

"Right now, the locusts have not yet grown up and are still eggs. In just a few days, they can be greatly reduced!"

"Even if a locust plague still breaks out, having several hundred million or even billions fewer locusts will greatly reduce the harm of the plague!"

"I call this method biological control!"

Following Gao Yang's simple sentence.

Hum!

The entire Jin Luan Hall instantly fell into silence.

Cui Xinghe was stunned.

Wu Zhao was stunned.

Sending fifty thousand chickens and ducks from the Changan area to rush to Guanzhong together to fight the locust plague with a chicken and duck coalition army.

This locust is a disaster for humans, but for chickens and ducks, it is a gift from Heaven!

Even according to Gao Yang, as soon as the chicken and duck coalition army arrives, the locust plague in Guanzhong will instantly be reduced by hundreds of millions.
