Chapter 70

Even more!

A living King of Hell, he is simply a living King of Hell!

Not only is he a living King of Hell to merchants, but he is also a living King of Hell to locusts!

Wu Zhao revealed a surprised smile.

Why didn't she think of this move? It is very difficult for humans to catch eggs buried deep in the soil.

But chickens and ducks need food, so they will find these locust eggs themselves and eat them.

In this way, even if a locust plague breaks out, the harm will be greatly reduced!

Gao Yang is truly a great talent!

Song Li's eyes were complex; the playboy he had looked down upon so much in the past was actually hiding so deeply.

Just based on these words, he dared to conclude that this method could be fully tested!

Wang Zhong's face turned pale, and his dignified face panicked visibly.

It's too cunning!

It's truly too cunning!

To actually use chickens and ducks to control locusts; he shouldn't have been so impulsive!

He looked at Cui Xinghe with a pleading gaze.

"Hiss!"

Cui Xinghe also gasped.

Biological control, using chickens and ducks to deal with locusts.

Wu Zhao said in surprise, "This method is very good, but why has our Da Qian never noticed this method in the past?"

Xu Xuanji frowned, still half-believing, and said, "Your Majesty, according to common sense, it shouldn't be like this!"

"If locusts invade on a large scale, using chickens and ducks to eat them—this method shouldn't have been unproposed by capable officials for hundreds of years!"

Once these words were spoken.

A group of officials also echoed.

It was mainly because Gao Yang's point of view was too advanced, so they found it hard to believe.

Wu Zhao looked at Xu Xuanji, her brows furrowed tightly.

As Prime Minister, Xu Xuanji had no method and also added obstacles, which made her quite displeased.

But before she could reprimand him, Gao Yang said, "What Prime Minister Xu says is not without reason, but in fact, I have already stated the reason."

"Because solitary locusts and gregarious locusts are two different concepts. Once a locust plague breaks out, these locusts will have toxins in their bodies."

"Not only will chickens and ducks not eat them, but birds won't eat them either. Even if they are very hungry, they rarely eat them."

"But locust larvae are different; for chickens and ducks, this is a gift from Heaven!"

"Therefore, a locust plague can only be prevented. Once it sweeps in, covering the sky and sun, there are very few methods to deal with it."

Everyone looked suspicious, but Gao Yang spoke with such logic.

Wang Zhong couldn't help it anymore. He looked at Wu Zhao and said, "Your Majesty, what Gao Yang says is too bizarre."

"Solitary ones are non-toxic, and gregarious ones become poisonous—this is simply nonsense!"

Cui Xinghe and others also stepped forward one after another, "Your Majesty, this is indeed unheard of!"

"We must be cautious."

Seeing this, Gao Yang stepped forward directly and said, "I am willing to stake my head that everything I say is true!"

Upon hearing this, Wang Zhong's gaze suddenly turned to Gao Yang.

So confident?

Not good.

Very not good, one hundred percent not good!

Wu Zhao also took a deep breath and said, "Since ancient times, there has been no way to curb locust plagues."

"When I was young, I often heard that there were droughts year after year in various parts of Da Qian, the grass withered, locust plagues arose everywhere, and the people could not make a living!"

"After the locust plague, there was no harvest in the local area, and people even traded children to eat!"

"I feel deep heartache!"

"This time, I will take a gamble and adopt the method of Gao Yang, Junior Official of the Ministry of Revenue, to try biological control!"

"As the ruler of Da Qian, I will bear all the consequences!"

Wu Zhao's voice carried majesty, and her phoenix eyes also looked at Gao Yang.

This time, for her, it was a big gamble.

If she lost, she would lose the hearts of the people, and there would even be criticism from the court and the public!

But if she won, the benefits to her would also be enormous!

For a moment, the officials bowed their heads.

This meant that Wu Zhao had made up her mind, and Gao Yang's method had to be tested.

Seeing this, Cui Xinghe looked at Gao Yang, "But now there is still a major difficulty. The land of Guanzhong is vast. I fear that besides the places reported by Governor Liu, there are still a large number of locusts lurking."

"If the chickens and ducks cannot find the places, what should be done?"

Gao Yang smiled, "This is not difficult. Locusts are heat-resistant and drought-resistant, and they like to lay eggs in the soil. This is also the reason why locust plagues are prone to break out after a great drought."

"Their favorite places to lay eggs are hard and dry wasteland, preferably where the soil has a certain amount of moisture. When the land is dry and some lakes and rivers dry up, that becomes a paradise for locusts to lay eggs!"

"A female locust can lay about three hundred eggs in her lifetime, which is the root cause of locust plagues sweeping across and covering the sky and sun."

"Therefore, the focus is on excluding these places, using rewards to have commoners report them, and then having the chicken and duck army crush them!"

"The crisis of Guanzhong can be resolved!"

After these words were finished, the entire Imperial Study was silent.

They widened their eyes and looked at Gao Yang.

It was truly like a small knife cutting a butt—it opened their eyes.

Where locusts like to live.

And even knowing how many a female locust can produce in her lifetime.

No, are you a roundworm in a locust's stomach, or do you have an affair with a female locust?

A group of officials all looked at Gao Yang with shocked expressions, including Gao Feng.

Is this really his, Gao Feng's, seed?

Are you sure he isn't a traitor from the locust clan?
