Chapter 636: The Hunt (Please Refresh)
In a void without laws.
A hand inserted beside the cosmic entity of the Abyss, Lord Haotian, while Ha Siqi ran about, hah-hah-ing, glancing left and right, up and down.
"What the hell is this?" a researcher from the Void Research Institute of the Cycle Space felt a chill crawl up his spine.
On the surveillance screen, that thing resembling Loki but not quite Loki occasionally performed tricks right in front of the monitor.
Blowing, plucking, singing, playing chess, painting, calligraphy—sometimes his clones staged battles between the Single-Glasses Army and the Mahjong-Headed Legion, one man being an entire TV drama.
No, no, no, the point isn't the performance.
The point is that every single dimension-monitoring device, across all layers, showed this thing.
Even if you move the monitor, it shifts position with you—this isn't a TV camera, it's a civilization's crystallized tool for detecting dimensions and multiverses across the Void!?!
"Act like you didn't see it." The gears on Du Weimuke turned slowly:
"A replica created by the Causal Biomimetic Life Puppet—classified as an SSS-level contaminant and immediately destroyed. Before leaving here, erase all related footage and memories."
"Is this still Marvel!?" a new researcher groaned, clutching his forehead.
"I studied the Daoist Canon and took an administrative post precisely so I wouldn't have to go on missions to worlds where even Creation-level gods get corrupted."
An elf researcher sighed: "Be grateful—over at the Graveyard of All Things, they've severed all connections."
No one dares laugh at these ridiculous shows; rumor says someone at the outpost accidentally laughed and couldn't stop—now they're under isolation surveillance.
This place may be safer, but no one can be sure.
This research mission is literally killing us.
The atmosphere grew heavy, but then all the 'Loki' images on screen vanished, followed by terrifying cracks appearing on the conceptual entity of the First Heaven, with tangible light gushing forth.
Hum—!
A flood of light erupted, swallowing the First Heaven, turning every screen and projection into pure white.
"The First Heaven… He." Du Weimuke's entire body froze, gears halting—then he saw a fluctuating numerical zone stop calculating: "Power down! Shut it down!!!"
But it was too late—or rather, the light surpassed speed itself.
Most instruments in the institute emitted a final mournful cry before falling silent.
After a while, in deathly silence, Du Weimuke pressed the switch of a steampunk-style television. The screen flickered with static and electronic interference.
They clearly saw a cosmic conceptual avatar clad in a starry cloak, shedding and burning its outer shell, bathing in light, about to be reborn in the Void.
Eternity had returned.
"Did he fail?"
Before Du Weimuke finished speaking, the screen showed Eternity, savoring his rebirth, beginning to pull his arm from the Abyss—when suddenly, a powerful force yanked him backward, hurling his entire body into the Abyss dimension.
Eternity, realizing too late, panicked and struggled to pull back—but pulled out…
A cosmic conceptual avatar, entirely enveloped in blazing light, its body now pure white.
The First Heaven? No—that's the God of the Abyss?!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The God of the Abyss landed three consecutive punches on Eternity's face, dazing him, then seized his throat and dragged his entire upper body into the Abyss, leaving only half his body still writhing outside.
Within seconds, Eternity went completely still, as if surrendering, pulled fully into the Abyss.
What the hell just happened?!
"." Du Weimuke's gears clacked and clattered, thick smoke filled with error symbols billowing—he spun around and sprinted toward the institute's exit.
Su Lin gripped Eternity, his face revealing unmasked fury and brutality.
"Oh my God, my dear President-Bishop."
Ha Siqi switched to Ji Tou Si, tentatively asking: "Could you… uh… let go of the Vice President? Can't we talk this through?"
From the divine throne, a cold, malicious glance pierced through.
"Mr. President," Loki's Adam's apple moved.
"Loki, rejoice," Su Lin said coldly.
Loki hesitated: "What did you say?"
"If you make me explain this joke, I'll burn you and the Marvel Universe together." Su Lin's face split open like a porcelain crack—then instantly healed: "I told you to rejoice. Are you deaf?"
The monocle dissolved into countless time-worms, each wearing masks, their bodies filled with dice and mahjong heads, swiftly burrowing into Eternity's body before vanishing into the cosmos.
Left behind, Loki's Adam's apple moved again—in the instant when killing intent froze the air—
He immediately opened the comic book in his hands.
"Rejoice! He is the Cosmic President Haotian God, who restored greatness to the Light, surpassed all former presidents, unified past and future, and loves his nation and people!"
Standing rigid in a suit, he shouted upward: "At this moment, history has finally entered a new chapter!!!"
After reciting, Loki snapped the book shut, stepped beside Su Lin, and clasped his hands before him.
"Should we add 'Most Benevolent, Most Virtuous, Most Powerful'?" Loki pursed his lips, awkwardly wiping his nose: "We've got so many crossovers, right?"
Su Lin glanced at him; Loki made a zipping motion across his lips.
"The list."
"What… oh, I remember, absolutely didn't forget!"
Loki quickly pulled out a leather pouch and handed it to Su Lin; after confirming his identity, he gradually relaxed.
"You seem unwell—perhaps I can arrange a professional medical team for you," Loki suggested.
On the throne pulsing with radiant light, Su Lin's figure flickered—sometimes overlapping, sometimes dim and ethereal, sometimes blazing intensely, occasionally splitting into identical phantom duplicates.
"You'd better stay quiet," Su Lin flipped through the list, revealing a cold smile:
"Or I might lose control and kill you and that guy beside you."
The phantom behind him reached toward Eternity—but the moment it detached from Su Lin, it dissolved into light and was pulled back.
In that instant, both Eternity and Loki felt the illusion that they had been erased.
After finishing reading, Su Lin's nine dragon souls and light shadows flew out, converging into a silver-armored figure of Lord Haotian upon hitting the ground, while another coalesced into the Root Deity with twelve wings of light and darkness.
Without pausing, they returned directly into the only remaining timeline within the Eternal One's body.
"Mephistopheles!"
Black Strange Shi Difen suppressed the writhing demonic beast shadows on his body and erected a magical matrix: "Stop! The Holy Grail War is no longer important!"
A six-foot-six-inch red-skinned demon emerged slowly from the depths of the flames, holding a wine goblet.
"How can you say it's unimportant? So many powerful souls, magical energies, and accumulated wishes after the collapse of multiple dimensions—though now planning for the Holy Grail isn't wise…"
"It's the original, not a projection—don't come closer!" Eleanor, bound by the chains of the Spirit Knight, was dragged out from behind.
"Of course it's the original. All dimensions have vanished; I can only wander this last remaining Earth."
Mephistopheles said:
"I must plan for the future. Without the Hell dimension, I'll only grow weaker—eventually weaker than an ordinary human. Fortunately, all of you have had parts of your spiritual foundations severed by that troublesome Outer God. I can't let this opportunity go to waste."
He surrounded the building complex at the heart of Wall Street with several remaining Reincarnators.
"Still, I'm surprised by your choice, Shi Difen. I invited you because we're the same kind." Mephistopheles gazed at the group protected by Shi Difen:
"To be honest, I was deeply intrigued by you. Your soul—mixed with countless demons and monsters, saturated with bloodshed and sin—is unique across the entire multiverse."
"I've atoned! I've already remade every universe I destroyed—at the cost of my own life!"
Shi Difen crossed his hands and pushed forward, resisting the hell-lord's spell; behind him lay the gravely wounded Klia.
"But you're still a monster."
Mephistopheles's nails sliced through the air, cutting through the dust to reveal a shadow hidden on the other side of the matrix—holding a rune dagger, ready to strike.
"I'm now far more interested in your eyes, Mr. Qiyè. How about a deal?"
"Give me those eyes and your soul, and I'll spare you and your friends."
"We can make a contract."
Devils are the most seductive.
Qiyè Qiye Zhigui Zhigui gripped the dagger tighter, but his damaged spiritual foundation caused Shi Difen to gradually lose control of his magical distribution; countless crimson flesh-flowers sprouted from cracks in the stone beneath him, spewing psychic pollen capable of inducing hallucinations even in star-devourers.
Boom—
The Battle Lord, transformed into the Spirit Knight, smashed Shi Difen away; out of control, he morphed into monstrous demons and dark elves.
"Mephistopheles, can we kill these people?" one Reincarnator asked. "They're our enemy faction."
"Of course. They're useless now." Mephistopheles nodded, stepping forward with his group:
"I heard from these Reincarnators—that's the Direct Death Eye, connected to the Root."
"There is… no Root at all." Qiyè Qiye Zhigui Zhigui slumped to the ground, staring at Mephistopheles, the Reincarnators behind him, and his own teammates.
This scene is so familiar…
Before joining the Reincarnation Space, something like this had happened before.
Family, loved ones, sister, classmates…
But now, the ones about to be killed are teammates who saved his life—and he can only watch as these enemy Reincarnators act.
Last time, he killed one, giving Eleanor and the others a chance.
This time, it seems impossible.
"Qiye Zhigui Zhigui."
A hallucination surfaced in his ear—he thought he heard Arcueid's voice. He didn't know what was worth clinging to in this fabricated fate, this manipulated false life.
"Master Qiye Zhigui Zhigui, please run!"
He wasn't Qiyè Qiye Zhigui Zhigui. He wasn't Tohno Shiki.
"Brother, don't care about me."
He was merely a replica, born from the wreckage of the world, a copy of soul-particles drawn from the abyss. Everyone there was a fake. He was too.
Just a training instance world for Reincarnators—worse than even ordinary worlds.
Why does it hurt so much?
Why is he still angry at this moment?
Why can't he…
Do anything?
Mephistopheles crouched before him, eyes fixed on the Demon Eye, a greedy, cunning smile forming.
The eyes—destroy at least these eyes.
He propped himself up against the wall, trembling violently as his fingers moved as if stabbing inward—though he knew he'd be stopped.
"Qiye Zhigui Zhigui?"
A hallucination? Of all times…
Golden hair brighter than gold, eyes more intoxicating than red wine, a pure white gown like an iris blossom, as if sculpted by the world itself.
Cheating.
"Arcueid." Qiyè Qiye Zhigui Zhigui forced a hideous smile, tears streaming down his face: "What's this outfit?"
"Not Arcueid." She smiled faintly: "I am the primordial consciousness floating above this planet—Gaia."
"Whatever." Qiyè Qiye Zhigui Zhigui let his hand fall limply. How could he have such a hallucination?
His gaze lingered for a moment on his teammates.
But at that moment, he noticed everyone had frozen—Mephistopheles, whose fingers had reached toward his Demon Eye, now turned his head toward the standing "hallucination."
Countless chains erupted from behind Gaia, filling the sky.
"Wait!" Mephistopheles opened his mouth—but was instantly swallowed.
The moonlight was cold and clear, its faintly crimson glow spilling over a vast blue sea of flowers that had replaced the buildings and city; a dark silhouette emerged, resembling a colossal castle standing beneath the full moon.
When the moon was full.
A crimson liquid poured over a vast sea of flowers.
"You may choose," Gaia said softly to the dazed Shichino Shigeki: "As the key, open the door to the ruins of your universe."
"If you refuse, you may leave now."
"The real Arcueid—no, Gaia of Type-Moon," Shichino Shigeki regained a sliver of clarity from his bewilderment: "Where are you going? What are you doing?"
"Destruction," said Gaia.
In the brief silence, Shichino froze; time seemed to halt as he sat on the ground, staring at that eerily similar face, its cold eyes fixed upon him.
Within those pupils, scenes from the past seemed to ignite.
Destroy that world?
Not allow impostors to exist?
From birth to growth, day after day, meeting the characters destined to be met.
In that former city, the short-haired girl leaning by the roadside beneath the sunset, the garden ablaze with autumn leaves like frost-red flowers—like a fairy tale's bubble.
Are they going to destroy that world?
"That's…" his voice grew hoarse, murmuring in disbelief: "Wonderful."
He truly felt it in his heart.
This is enough.
It might be selfish—just because his own bubble had burst, he didn't care about the people left in that world.
"Do you agree?" Gaia asked.
I don't know.
The weight is too great—too heavy for him to speak.
"But they didn't want to be born this way," his eyes brimmed with complex emotion: "There are still many ordinary people living there."
And dying there.
Shichino struggled—he didn't know why he hesitated, perhaps because of that face, because of that voice.
"Does it offend the dignity of you, the originals? A group of NPCs trampled by Reincarnators, now to be purged?"
He tried to understand, but ultimately found he could not.
If you truly didn't care, why ask me if I agree?
Shichino voiced his doubt.
"You have linked to the false root of that world—you can serve as a medium to open the channel directly," Gaia replied.
This was not the answer he wanted.
"Then purge."
Gaia regarded him and said: "Purge all—including the Reincarnators who have reached that world."
"..."
In the silence, Shichino fell utterly still.
Upon the divine throne.
Su Lin watched the assembled celestial host, mounted the dragon chariot, and opened the passage to the abyss's countless dimensions and worlds, even the pathways within the Reincarnation Space.
Yang Jian stepped forward to the chariot, seized the reins.
"March! Hunt the Heavenly Demons!"
Immortals, demons, humans, gods, monsters, ghosts—the Three Realms and Six Paths journey through the abyss, settling old karmic debts.
