Chapter 638: Upon the Wheelchair
Beyond infinite dreams lies a cold, merciless world~.
Su Lin felt that this classic Digimon line should be playing beside his ear, after all,
he was falling from infinite heights along different latitudes, just like the Chosen Children in the first episode tumbling freely into the Digital World—except he was falling toward the Marvel world.
Below him waited no Digimon, only a group of masked, tight-clad perverts.
Most critically, because of those few cups of hot red wine, though his body and soul had been partially repaired, he could not summon an ounce of power.
'Wait, what the hell is this?'
Confused, Su Lin raised his right hand, and a holographic emblem of the Reverse Tree of Life materialized in his palm.
'.' Su Lin shut his eyes in utter disbelief:
'I'm starting to hate Digimon. Really.'
Unable to make sense of this so-called gift, Su Lin felt his drowsiness returning—perhaps the previous president's love of sleep had somehow infected him during the campaign.
Let me sleep for a bit.
My physical strength remains intact; falling like this won't kill me.
Why bother dragging me halfway back and shoving me into this corpse of a body meant to be discarded? Wouldn't it be better to just let me return home and soak in a hot spring?
Whatever. At least I got a little health back.
Consciousness slowly sank into darkness, and gradually, Su Lin began to smell a faint, elegant fragrance of bergamot and lemon leaf; the pillow beneath his head was unexpectedly soft and comfortable.
Then let me sleep a little longer.
'Stop pretending to be asleep now that you're awake.'
She bluntly exposed his act—after all, his head still rested on her knees, yet his hand was creeping toward her waist. If this were sleepwalking, it would be terrifying.
He opened his eyes and saw the witch, whose beauty—sweet, lovely, worthy of the phrase 'flower-faced, moon-browed'—made his heart leap. He vowed then and there: for Young Lady Yi Leina, I would do anything. Then he pulled out every coin he had.
'Young Lady Yi Leina, aren't you embarrassed to add narration without permission?' Su Lin asked, expressionless.
The gray-haired witch brushed her hair aside and said calmly: 'I went out of my way to prepare a knee pillow for you—wasn't that exactly what you were thinking?'
'Do you think I'm some naive man easily fooled by bad women? I'm a finance guy,' Su Lin said, squinting.
Yi Leina scoffed: 'Didn't you already get tricked into my grasp? You, a civil engineering guy.'
This woman's offensive power today is insane—she's even keeping up with modern internet meme trends?!
Su Lin glanced around with the corner of his eye: bizarre, abstract landscapes of latitudes, layered, overlapping dimensional spaces.
'You're not some old man transformed, are you?'
'An old man?'
Yi Leina's expression turned slightly disgusted.
'Nothing. Just some PTSD,' Su Lin changed the subject. 'What's going on now?'
'Yang Jian and Taibai Jinxing came to beg my forgiveness—I'm the one who's clueless,' Yi Leina complained, rubbing her temples. '
'They all say you're dead.'
Let Su Lin be dead already.
Su Lin's lip twitched. He resolved to become invisible outside the chat group for a long time.
'Yang Jian and the gods said they'd extract my immortal bones, sever my immortal sinews, cut off my divine source, and descend to the mortal realm to undergo trials to atone until you return,' Yi Leina recalled.
'Loki was even preparing to lower the flag to half-mast in Congress—it looked pretty serious.'
'Because it was too annoying, I came to find you.'
???
Everyone's gone completely mad.
'Honestly, was it even necessary to chase me into the Abyss?' Yi Leina frowned in displeasure. '
'You did something beyond your capacity and ended up like this—do you think you're God, capable of everything, so you must meddle in every single thing?'
Hearing this accusatory tone, Su Lin smiled: 'From the existence and station Lord Haotian sacrificed to me, I gained the ability to shift styles.'
'Though Type-Moon's work is troublesome, I've truly gained many benefits from the source of God's station and power.'
'Work and careers are like this: if you receive fair and satisfying compensation, you must care about the job's content.'
'So even the role of God can sometimes be frustrating.'
Of course, there was also the desire to ascend in one step; after confirming the risks were bearable, I took the leap.
Hearing this, the witch furrowed her brows, sighed helplessly, then smiled gently at Su Lin, whose head rested on her knees.
'Then…' she gently stroked Su Lin's forehead, her voice soft: 'Wouldn't it be enough to just be my God?'
Su Lin gazed up at the witch, who calmly watched him. She tilted her head, and light—source unknown—glowed upon her, causing her slightly whitened gray hair to fall onto his face.
'Because of Su Su Tuoni's precedent, I'm worried you might one day, for some strange reason, go and achieve ultimate transcendence.'
Yi Leina lowered her head, offering a faint, troubled smile:
'I don't want to become that red witch, wasting time searching for someone.'
'You,' Su Lin paused, then laughed: 'Isn't tempting God to fall already enough?'
'I'm a witch, after all~' Yi Leina smiled sweetly.
Her dazzling smile drew closer, until her breath and blush touched Su Lin's lips—then she slowly lifted her head, her index finger pressing against her own lips.
'Then, it's a promise.'
Light of possibility surged around Yi Leina; chaotic dimensional storms filled the layered latitudes, wrapping Su Lin and hurling him toward a self-cycling timeline, where countless possibilities were being born.
Several days later.
An unfamiliar ceiling.
Su Lin felt he'd had a rather pleasant dream—he couldn't recall the details, just as he couldn't recall his past memories, as if everyone around him were strangers.
'Your servant is guilty!!' Taibai Jinxing pressed his sword against his neck:
"I failed to understand the difficulty Your Majesty faces, causing Yang Erlang Zhenjun to make an overstepping request, thereby harming Your Majesty's primordial energy for the sake of our karmic ties!"
A crowd around him immediately tackled Tai Bai Jin Xing to the ground, babbling in unison, while Yang Jian knelt on one knee nearby, his face green with rage.
"I just remembered—let's go. It's too noisy. Let me be alone." Su Lin rubbed his temples and waved them off.
Hearing the reply, Tai Bai Jin Xing and the others were overjoyed; the chaotic energy moments earlier instantly surged to its peak, each face flushed as they used their strongest divine arts to clean the area and teleport away.
"Are you raising death soldiers here?!"
Meng Qi's expression was unusually strange—these immortals were barely short of standing at attention and shouting loyalty.
No. I just wanted a vacation and asked you to cover for me.
"Did you leak the news to them?" Su Lin glanced around; the large room was spotless, with several beds arranged inside.
A peeled apple was handed to him; Su Lin took a bite.
"After Yi Leina carried your unconscious body back, they didn't believe you were fine," Meng Qi said from his hospital bed, seated in meditation.
"Lu Mingfei even set up a funeral hall for you, and ordered a hundred and eight banquet tables from Weigong Shilang, just waiting to serve the feast."
"Who said that? Don't talk nonsense!" Lu Mingfei suddenly sensed something, turned around, lifted his skirt to check, and exclaimed excitedly: "I'm celebrating my Niu Niu coming back!"
Tsk. What a pity.
Su Lin glanced at Lu Mingfei, then turned to the side and asked: "Why are you broken too?"
You just fought a group of incarnations of countless universes and the Dark Heavenly Gods. Weren't you fine before? How did you get this weak in just a few days?
Meng Qi and Lu Mingfei simultaneously turned toward Zhou Mingrui, who wore a faint look of sorrow, as if experiencing a surge of humanity.
Though his injuries weren't severe and were nearly healed, how to put it—
Sleepwalking and punching your own teammates.
"Who are those two mummies?" Su Lin pointed to the opposite corner; a bottle of cola was handed to him, and he took a sip.
Clean white sheets and pillows, various medical instruments and magical artifacts, IV drips filled with liquid extracted from ten-thousand-year-old immortal ginseng—clearly the style of a post-cultivation-era hospital.
On the beds, the two mummies—one grinning with bared teeth, the other with lifeless, gray eyes—stared at a sign.
Was it the Tiancheng Token?
It was said that when they were found, Shi Hao and Ye Fan had not a single unharmed spot on their bodies.
Not only were all their bones shattered into pulp, but their internal and external injuries varied in severity, and they had genuinely lost a portion of their memories, completely unaware of what had happened.
Shi Hao bore numerous fist marks; Ye Fan had turned to charcoal. The terrifying energy residue left behind matched that of the Dark Heavenly Gods—so it was likely their doing.
Yet under these circumstances, it somehow produced a body-refining effect.
If one could endure this energy to restore the body and partially assimilate it, the energies containing the principles of the multiverse could bring immense benefits.
But Ye Fan—
Seemed to have suffered some psychological trauma.
"All gone? How could it all be gone? That shouldn't be possible?" Ye Fan murmured to himself.
The Tiancheng Token, which could forcibly activate the Dao of Controlling the Formless through the Form by consuming points, now had zero points left—completely drained.
"Probably encountered some terrifying enemy," Shi Hao said. "Your artifact was excellent—perhaps thanks to it, we survived."
Is that so?
Ye Fan pondered deeply.
"Aren't we using player bodies?" Ye Fan asked blankly. "Then why is our original body injured?"
That's a good question.
Su Lin withdrew his gaze; this mystery among the top ten unsolved questions of the chat group would have to wait.
"Your cultivation level—"
Meng Qi frowned.
"This body is just exhausted, its oil and lamp both spent—recovery will take time." Su Lin looked around, then rose, nearly losing his balance.
"Everything else seems normal. I need a means of transport."
A wheelchair was immediately pushed over, and a tall, deep-blue humanoid with an olive-shaped vertical pupil, whose body resembled the cosmos, lifted Su Lin and placed him gently in the chair.
"Hey, what's that thing—?" Lu Mingfei pointed at the deep-blue humanoid.
"Probably a newly awakened Stand?" Su Lin turned back uncertainly and said: "It appeared the moment I woke up. It peels apples, opens soda cans—it's pretty capable."
Lu Mingfei's eyelids twitched violently: "Is your Stand the First Heaven?!"
Since they entered, they'd seen this two-meter-tall "First Heaven" serving tea and water beside Su Lin, even holding his phone to scroll social media.
"It feels like a Dharma Body—the energy signature is identical to yours..." Meng Qi realized he couldn't penetrate the nature of this energy-like entity.
"Heaven Dharma Body · World."
Su Lin stroked his chin. "Or is it First Heaven · World?"
After realizing this entity was formed from his own spiritual will, he could now wield it effortlessly—it instantly acted according to Su Lin's thoughts.
Probably a fusion of spiritual residue from the Martyr's Path and the Dharma Body after descending from the Throne of the Abyssal God.
Thump-thump—
Loki stood at the door, dressed in a Sui Xifu.
"Mr. President, the speech ceremony is ready," Loki reminded.
The several cups of hot red wine given to him by the Supreme Above were likely some kind of adhesive or cosmic principle, allowing his body to return from annihilation and martyrdom back into the Marvel Universe.
Though movement was inconvenient, it was still a unique experience.
"Don't stare—it's normal for a president to have a Stand, isn't it?"
The Heaven Dharma Body pushed the wheelchair past Lu Mingfei, who eyed it covetously, heading toward the door.
A blinding flash of Bai Guang followed.
In the corridor, on either side stood Su Su Tuoni Musk, bewildered; Amon, wiping his monocle; Loki, holding a book; Aha, raising his right hand at a forty-five-degree angle; and Zhao Lei, transformed into a bearded, square-faced white man.
"Strange, why didn't you merge and run away—or cause some trouble?"
Su Lin always felt something was off about this; he had originally expected these guys to pull off a major incident, and he had looked forward to it for a long time.
"You say that?" Zhao Lei looked wounded: "We are absolutely loyal to you now!"
That was why Su Lin found it so strange.
Previously, they were nearly 99.9% rebellious, but since returning, their rebelliousness had dropped to only fifty percent—they had unexpectedly become much more obedient.
But now was not the time to discuss this.
The louder they walked, the more noise surged; when Su Lin and his campaign team arrived at the Multiverse Superhero Gathering Center.
The two great courts—the Golden Life Court and the Silver Life Court Logos—had already been waiting for a long time on either side of the venue.
As Su Lin appeared, the cheers and shouts reached their peak.
"He's really running for president?" Su Su Tuoni clapped as he asked Loki: "What about Eternity?"
Loki signaled Su Su Tuoni to be quiet and whispered: "This is a necessary procedure."
The Celestial Manifestation temporarily merged into his body; with his spiritual force now substantially replenished, Su Lin stepped onto the podium to deliver his speech.
"This is a great victory for the Marvel people, one that will make Marvel and Light great again."
"Although I have a girlfriend who is LGBT, I promise I will make this universe have only two genders—male and female—though sexual orientation freedom remains untouched."
"Now, the border wall is being repaired!"
Words became law.
At the moment Su Lin fulfilled his promise, the entire Omnipotent Universe—including the Grave of All Things—saw all illegal crossers, reincarnators, rebirthers, and the anomalous histories left behind by Su Lin and others.
All began to be corrected.
"MakeLightGreatAgain!!!"
The comic in Loki's hand dissolved; finally, Light swallowed everything.
