Chapter 10: Official Response
Not to mention the players being confused, Chen Zhi was also very confused; his "database" contained absolutely no information on the relationships between various religions, and the previous Lord of Calamity had also been a mess of a mind, with garbled data retrieved in numbers as numerous as the hairs on an ox.
If it weren't for the hardware equipment helping him "seal" away all this useless knowledge, he probably wouldn't be insane right now, but his state wouldn't be too good either.
After all, that original Calamity had long since been in a state of madness; if there had been even a shred of sanity left... Chen Zhi wouldn't have come.
After fretting for a while, a guest arrived in the Sewers; Andrew knelt devoutly at the entrance of the passage, hoping to be granted an audience by the Calamity.
"Rise, my Divine Servant."
Andrew shed a few tears; to be acknowledged by the Calamity, what did it matter if his life were required?
His family had served the Calamity for generations; although it was arduous, the deity was always watching.
This made Andrew White feel very satisfied inside.
Seeing the other party's tearful gratitude, Chen Zhi shrank his hands and feet uncomfortably; he deepened his voice and said to his devout Believer: "Which churches and deities are still hunting you down?"
Chen Zhi did not say hunting himself down, as that would appear spineless.
"Almost all the churches and deities," Andrew said tremblingly. "Fortunately, we are all hiding well, but... but we are all operating under the names of other deities' believers; please do not punish us."
Andrew had not wanted to say it, but in front of the deity, it was difficult for him to lie.
Of course, he was also prepared to face the deity's rage.
This was a common occurrence; his father and his father's father had all died from the anger of deities.
"This is all for self-preservation; you have done well. Pay attention to hiding yourselves and identifying traitors." Chen Zhi felt somewhat helpless; he had thought that although he was weak, as long as he didn't show his face, no one would come looking.
He hadn't expected that even his own Believers would not be spared.
It was fortunate that he was relatively weak; even if they were being investigated, most Believers could lie and claim to be followers of other deities...
Of course, this was not something to be happy about; perhaps they would be betrayed in the end.
Andrew bowed and said: "I will strictly follow your will."
"I have a matter I need to re-learn from you; how do you usually perform sacrifices for me? Are there any difficulties?" Chen Zhi asked with an air of superiority.
Andrew responded tremblingly: "Do you require us to hold a Ritual of sacrifice?"
"No, I just hope to be able to contact you in the simplest way," Chen Zhi weighed his words, "so that Believers can contact me more conveniently."
"This... your servant is willing to convey your will for you." Andrew stood there in a panic; in that instant, he felt he had been abandoned by the deity.
Chen Zhi did not know what he was thinking, only urging: "I just wish to understand; I trust you, and I also trust Saina."
"Saina... she..." Andrew wanted to say something, but held it back. "If it were in the past, we would hold some large-scale Rituals of sacrifice; at that time, you were still in your Divine Kingdom, and we could only contact you through that method."
According to Andrew's explanation, they had not performed any sacrificial activities for at least a century.
Mainly because the Calamity did not need sacrifices; he had been in a semi-mad state since a century ago, and many accidents were likely to occur during the process of sacrifice.
The death of the sacrificer was considered a minor outcome; if discovered, it would bring calamity upon the Calamity.
Therefore, under normal circumstances, the Calamity would not respond to a Ritual of sacrifice.
However, if one wished to, there were still corresponding Rituals.
First, one had to draw the symbol belonging to the Calamity, then use silver as a guiding item, light candles on the left and right in the east and west directions, and then offer the guiding item before the symbol.
As for things like essential oils or herbs, they were completely unnecessary; any item that would irritate the Calamity was not needed.
However, silver was a bit too expensive; after inquiring, Chen Zhi learned that using tin was also acceptable, and he immediately felt relieved.
Because Tana City itself had tin mines, the copper coins of Tana contained a portion of tin metal; the players would only need to prepare two candles, light them in the east and west directions, and then sacrifice a copper coin to contact him.
If other items needed to be sacrificed, they could just place those items on top of the copper coin.
However, they could not be too heavy; Chen Zhi did not know how much he could pick up from a crude Ritual of sacrifice, so if there was nothing important, it was best not to sacrifice useless things.
After thinking for a while, Chen Zhi asked a few other questions before letting Andrew leave.
Soon, there was finally an official response on the forum.
【"New Calamity" version 0.1.1 update is coming soon, task panel, character display... everything you want will be there!】 — by: Calamity Apostle
Dear closed-beta Believers, after one day of testing, 83 summoned Believers have participated in the test, but our Lord of Calamity is still somewhat dissatisfied; he hopes to see the remaining summoned Believers as soon as possible.
After discussion, we have decided to perform an optimization update this Thursday, October 3rd. In response to the suggestions from the test Believers, we are about to optimize the following content.
1. Regarding the display issue of game player names: after emergency troubleshooting, we have synchronized the forum ID and game ID. Now everyone can see their own ID displayed in the game! No more worrying about forgetting your name! However, please note that when facing NPCs, please try to choose a more appropriate alias.
2. Regarding the display issue of the in-game task interface: after discussion, we have decided to tailor a notebook system for every Believer. We will equip every Believer with a notebook and a charcoal pencil; as long as you open the notebook, you can record the current task! Isn't that great? And it's even more immersive! Please be careful not to discard your notebook! Otherwise, the information recorded on it will be gone. The subsequent virtual task system is currently under development, so please look forward to it!
3. Regarding the issue of in-game death: according to the settings, every Believer's body is created by the God of Calamity. Currently, resurrection after character death requires the God of Calamity to recreate the body.
Since every body is unique, test Believers, please cherish your bodies and do not fight in Tana City at will.
The bug where resurrection after death failed has been fixed; resurrection requires 24 hours. After the subsequent update, a resurrection countdown will be displayed inside the Helmet.
4. Regarding the game model issue: the models in the game cannot have their appearance changed; all Believers will have random appearances after logging in. However, after earning wages, Believers can go to the Tana City barbershop for a haircut, or go to the beauty salon for beauty treatments.
5. Every player's fatigue level will reach its maximum after 10 hours of play, at which point they will be logged off. Please do not become addicted to the game; real life is also wonderful!
6. We will fix some textures regarding display aspects, please look forward to it.
