Chapter 9: The First Proper Guide
I didn't expect the first pot of gold to come so suddenly, and I certainly didn't expect it to be such a small amount. Of course, burying the players' bodies wasn't much of a problem; they weren't truly dead anyway.
The pity is that there's no way to haggle; the players still don't know how to speak the language here.
It seems I need to submit a suggestion. At the very least, for this game, shouldn't the NPCs be made to speak Chinese?
Watching the two players drag the three corpses away, Brown Beard closed the back door of the bar, bypassed the noisy, drunken patrons, and headed to a compartment on the second floor.
There were, of course, many people drinking here, but they were of higher status.
The barmaids also preferred these big-spending gentlemen; it would be even better if they could take them home.
"It's done. Those guys shouldn't be able to tell anything is wrong, and I don't know where they popped up from." Brown Beard frowned and sat in his own seat. "When are we going to drive those Sun God Cult guys away? These people are just too annoying."
"Isn't it better to have them as cover? At least it won't let those who believe in War and Wisdom find us." The woman sitting opposite Brown Beard took a sip of red wine from her goblet and said with a smile, "Tonight, quite a few Believers of the Red Moon are already praying. I believe my Lord will descend upon Tana City soon, and we will turn all the women of Tana City into His Believers."
"Then what about me?" Brown Beard said somewhat urgently. "What am I supposed to do? I'm not a woman!"
"As long as you believe in the Red Moon, becoming a woman isn't a difficult task." The beautiful woman smiled slightly. "Or are you saying that what you said before about giving everything for me was all a lie?"
Brown Beard's eyes instantly turned muddled, and he said in a somewhat sluggish tone: "O-of course, I will give everything for you, my goddess."
"Hahahaha, that's good. Just don't delay our grand undertaking."
Feng Buxi and Yunxiao struggled to drag the corpses, walking near a sewer manhole cover.
The players weren't that well-behaved, and it didn't feel right to go outside the city to bury people, so they chose the nearby sewers.
Anyway, they had crawled out of the sewers, so sending the corpses back to where they came from should count as "burying" them.
After all, the other party only gave them 20 Tana, which was only the price of two beers. Only players would do the job of burying corpses for such a small amount of money.
"Anyway, there's no quest progress, and the money has already been given, so let's just dump them down," Yunxiao said readily. "It just so happens that we're returning to where we started to log off. I'm just too tired, and dragging these corpses, I really can't walk anymore."
Dawn had broken, and the two players couldn't endure the exhaustion any longer, returning to the place where they had first lain as corpses to log off.
Of course, there were still many corpses that hadn't gotten up, but that was no longer important; the two light-headed players soon returned to the real world.
Almost as soon as Feng Buxi took off his Helmet, he opened the forum, intending to see news from other players.
Several players who had dropped out of the game were still wailing, and there were others who, like them, had already chosen to log off and rest.
Of course, there were also some players who had just logged on and had already been targeted by Saina and sent to Semilton Farm.
All in all, it was eight o'clock in the evening, and of the one hundred test players who received the Helmet, more than seventy had already logged on to test it.
There were fewer than thirty left, who were likely truly discouraged by the mini-game that came with the Helmet; at least for now, they were in an offline state.
Feng Buxi also posted a thread on the forum, partly to complain and partly to provide a small summary of the test.
【First day online, a brief talk on my thoughts regarding "New Calamity".】——Feng Buxi
Like many test players, I believe this is an epoch-making game. It can be said that no game, domestic or foreign, can compare to the realism of this one.
However, the game developers clearly only focused on realism. The textures inside the game are extremely exquisite, even a bit too realistic—realistic to the point where I personally feel it might lead to it being unable to be listed.
The NPCs in the game each have their own unique personalities. My teammate and I did not head to Semilton Farm, but instead wandered around Tana City after logging on. The city is divided into six districts in total.
According to my exploration, the area near the north is the mountainous region, which is also the defensive zone of Tana City. Across the other side of the mountains is a place called the Morio Kingdom. I don't know the specific situation yet, but the vagrants say the War Church is recruiting soldiers. After enlisting, they provide food and housing every month, and also pay each individual a salary of 5,000 Tana per month.
Tana is the currency of Tana City, which might only be spendable locally. As for other currencies, because I entered the game at night, I didn't get to find out.
Going east from the north is the new district of Tana City, which is the Factory District. They recruit workers here every day, and the salary is about 15 to 20 Tana per day. The factories in the East District don't recruit people every day, mainly because there are too few factories here, but many poor people live here. There are also places like bars for people to relax. Everyone should be careful about being scammed when coming here; when we came here, two players were dealt with by the NPCs here, and we don't know the cause.
The central part of the city is the office area, where the only clock in Tana City is located. Heading west is the area where the nobles live, and to the southwest, there are many Nongzhuang. It is currently the autumn harvest season, and they need to recruit some farmers, but the Farm owners prefer to hire more serfs.
The southeast direction is the area where the chambers of commerce are located, which is mainly for trade. When we went there, there were still a few shops open, but because of the language barrier, we didn't go in to ask if there was any work we could do.
The above is our exploration of the entire city area. I don't know if it's possible to take screenshots of the specific map; if so, I hope the GM adds this function.
I have to say, the entire Tana City is done perfectly. There are still many places I haven't visited, mainly because there are guards patrolling the roads constantly, driving us away. Tana City has a tradition of curfew, and because of the new law against sleeping in the open issued by the king, vagrants cannot rest in the city and can only wait until the guards are too lazy to patrol before they can get a good night's sleep.
Every NPC here seems to have a life of their own; their expressions and such are very realistic. It can be said that the developers have put a lot of effort into it. Each individual NPC also has their own unique way of interacting; for example, some guards are very rough, some are very lazy, and some are kind. It doesn't look like they were copied and pasted from the same template.
In short, there is a lot of content in the game that needs optimization, such as the quest system, numerical displays, and especially communication. This is truly a very important issue. I think the reason most players died and disconnected was because of problems with communication.
……
Feng Buxi's post received a lot of likes from players. It can be said that the content he provided was full of useful information. Just exploring the map alone provided help to many players, not to mention learning about the currency and knowing about the laws against sleeping in the open and the curfew in the city.
His post was quickly pushed to the top by the players.
You'eryuan: Then where did you log off?
Feng Buxi to You'eryuan: In the sewers. I think our respawn point should be the safest place; otherwise, we wouldn't have woken up in that place.
Luolita: Envious ing, I died not long after I started playing. If I had known, I wouldn't have gone to visit the castle and would have just honestly explored the Farm.
Mengmeng who eats: o(╯□╰)o, following us to explore was also death. Who knew someone was holding some evil Ritual? It would have been better to go see the castle.
Feng Buxi read the netizens' comments about him with great interest. He felt that the last time he wrote such a useful guide was at least ten years ago.
Current games almost all have automatic pathfinding, so there's no need to summarize maps or anything like that. Even single-player games are full of all kinds of guides on the first day of release, leaving no room for a wild player like him to play.
Sure enough, being a lecher still has some advantages; at least when an artist recommends a game, one can follow the trend and have a sip of hot soup.
Soon, the two players who had been buried also replied to the post.
Yaohuanghuang: Don't mention it. As soon as we left the sewers, we overheard that there was a bar in the East District, thinking it should be a quest location. As a result, when we got there, we saw a woman killing someone. Then she finished us off too.
Shoda Ningmeng: QAQ, we shouldn't have taken the side road. That woman asked us what we were doing and if we were also Believers of the Sun. Unfortunately, I could understand what she was saying, but she couldn't understand what I was saying. Then this guy transformed; the skin on her body turned blood-red, and her eyes turned red too. It was terrifying. We couldn't run even if we wanted to, and the road behind us was blocked by a few burly men. In the end, we were scratched to death by that woman's fingernails.
No wonder they died so miserably, Feng Buxi mourned for a second.
Then he replied: "In other words, the other party should be hostile to the Sun God Cult? That shouldn't be right; that bar originally had people from the Sun God Cult preaching there."
Thinking of this, Feng Buxi fell into deep thought.
What exactly is going on with this plot?
