Chapter 21: The Best View in the House
The vast majority of witches cannot control it at will; by comparison, thieves find this aspect much easier.
Discovering that her plan had failed, Susan turned around and wanted to leave.
The performance on stage was at its most brilliant point; Yezi's high-altitude movements had a strong sense of suspension, as if she had truly taken flight, and the audience cheered incessantly, with some even leaning out of the VIP boxes to applaud.
There were even quite a few people who ordered high-priced bouquets from within the Theater to present to Yezi, who was performing on stage.
It could be said that this performance was quite successful.
Susan leaving at this moment appeared somewhat conspicuous.
Chen Ai did not know how many times she had watched Yezi's performance; although the other party was more relaxed this time, this was, after all, a game, and after confirming she had seen the most important shots, Chen Ai planned to log off to tell her older brother and have him edit them to send to Yezi.
While looking down, she saw Susan leaving in a hurry.
Wasn't she the one who loved Yezi's dancing the most? Why was she leaving so suddenly?
She had even accompanied her throughout the rehearsals; why leave now, when it was clearly the most critical moment?
Could it be a special plot!
In her view, if an NPC in a game had abnormal behavioral logic, there must be a problem!
If this were reality, she might speculate that the game NPC wanted to use the restroom or had some other urgent matter, but in a game, that must mean a plot had been triggered.
Even if she didn't record the rest, Yezi would certainly not blame her; thinking of this, she hurriedly followed.
As soon as she entered the staff passage, Susan began to run wildly; she did not want to die here.
But Chen Ai knew nothing; she only knew that an abnormal NPC must have a problem, and there must be some Hidden Task.
What made her run for her life?
Chen Ai looked to her side, and Evans's figure flashed past quickly.
That movement was even more agile than Yezi's on stage; Yezi's sense of suspension seemed illusory, but this guy was the true dance master—every movement was not superfluous.
He quickly intercepted Susan, and Susan turned around, her entire appearance changing into something else.
Hiss, how did it become like this?
Blood tears dripped from the corners of Susan's eyes, and she began to mutter to herself.
What was she doing?
Chen Ai found a pile of props to the side and hid behind it; this was an excellent viewing angle.
Hmm, she must ask her older brother to copy a version later and send it to Yezi to see.
"Apprentice Witch? Is that how you chant a spell? How are you going to stop me?" Evans grinned and slapped Susan, but her body felt as if it were soft and limp.
It's a Mirror!
Damn it, is this guy crazy?
Evans ignored the human instinct for survival; in the face of life and death, anything is possible.
Although she knew that hiding in a Mirror was also a life-or-death gamble, Susan would rather do that than be caught.
It had been so many years, and she had never been caught before.
Of course, except for those Believers of the Red Moon who came knocking.
She knew right then that she was not far from death, just like when her parents took her and escaped back then; she knew that her parents were not far from death either.
There were quite a few Mirrors in the staff passage, which was also the reason Susan chose to work at the Theater; for an Apprentice Witch, although controlling entry into a Mirror was very dangerous, it still remained a form of escape ability.
Chen Ai saw the other party run out from the pile of debris in front of her and was startled.
Good heavens, this isn't a Theater at all; it's clearly a circus.
Apparently, Susan, who had jumped out, was also startled, but once she thought that the enemy was likely from the Wealth Church, she gritted her teeth, grabbed Chen Ai, and placed a knife against Chen Ai's neck.
"Don't come any closer, or I'll kill her. You wouldn't want a civilian to die because of you, would you?" Susan said coldly, as if she didn't know Chen Ai at all.
Good heavens, this NPC can even do this trick?
Is it the plot, or... Chen Ai wasn't afraid of the knife at her neck at all; after all, this was a game, and even if she felt a bit of instinctive fear at first, once she thought about it being a game, she wasn't afraid anymore.
She was even a bit eager to try.
She wondered what it felt like.
How troublesome, Evans stopped, "It's not that I have no way to deal with you, look."
He raised the bottle in his hand and said, "I can swap the bottle in your hand, so naturally I have a way to swap the knife in your hand."
"But you can't stop my spell; my speed is faster than yours." Susan pressed against Chen Ai and walked forward step by step, "I can even take her into the Mirror World with me. You should have learned what the Mirror World is like; I might not even be able to get out myself, let alone an ordinary person."
"What a waste of this face; she should be an actress in your Theater, someone you live and work with every day, and you'd kill her just like that? Witches really are a bunch of heartless things; no wonder the major churches are hunting you all down." Evans shook his head.
He smiled and said, "But it doesn't matter; I'm not from the Wealth Church, and I don't care if she lives or dies. I just don't want you to affect the performance of the show."
Even as he said this, he still walked forward step by step to meet her.
As long as he was within a certain distance, he could swap the knife over. The other party was from the Red Moon; if he could catch her alive, Saina should be very happy.
At the very least, she could offer this woman to that Evil God; after all, she is an Awakened, and he believed that deity would be very interested.
He had already prepared the prop for the swap, a hand puppet doll; such a beautiful woman shouldn't die in a place like this.
Perhaps Saina would really like the play she is about to perform.
"I'm sorry." Susan pursed her lips; she didn't want to hurt anyone.
But the Red Moon Cult would not let her go.
Even if she didn't do this, if the previous plan had succeeded, Emily, that great beauty, would have been killed by her.
Thinking of this, she opened her mouth, wanting to chant the spell.
But she discovered that she couldn't speak at all.
Terrible, she discovered that the other party hadn't swapped the item in her hand; she had been careless!
The other party really wasn't from the Wealth Church; he hadn't "bought" the short knife from her—everything just now was just testing her.
Sensing something strange about the person behind her, Chen Ai thought it was a bug; she, who should have taken the opportunity to struggle, missed something because she had no reaction.
Yes, her screen went black.
At the very last moment, Susan's unwillingness erupted; she felt she had to take something away, so she used a knife to take Emily's life.
Emily, this great beauty, would be the only person Susan had ever killed in her life, an ordinary person.
In the middle of the plot, Chen Ai opened her phone with a headache, preparing to have a good "talk about life" with her older brother.
