Chapter 69: I Have Fans?

~7 min read 1,356 words

The luxurious carriage gradually filled with people.

As the magic train gave a slight jolt, the scenery outside the window began to slowly recede.

Lin Mo leisurely watched the passing landscape.

“So we’re off already…”

He felt a quiet sense of reflection.

To be honest, he’d spent eighteen years in this world and had never been to the capital.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t go—just that he was too lazy to leave the house.

Just then.

A middle-aged man walked down the aisle and stopped beside Lin Mo’s seat.

Lin Mo lifted his head slightly.

The man was around forty, with thick eyebrows and large eyes, radiating a soldier’s sharpness and lethal aura.

Behind him followed a young recruit, seemingly in his early twenties, looking slightly nervous.

“Excuse me, are you Student Lin Mo?”

The man glanced at Lin Mo’s chest badge and smiled.

Lin Mo nodded politely. “Yes, who are you?”

“Let me introduce myself—I’m Shen Yifeng, captain of the train’s security team.”

“Responsible for the entire journey’s safety and protection.”

Shen Yifeng smiled and pointed to the young recruit behind him. “This is my deputy, Xiao Liu.”

Lin Mo understood.

So he was the head of security.

Indeed, though the train had defensive arrays capable of repelling moderate beast surges,

the wilds were inherently unpredictable.

Should a massive beast surge strike, or a wild boss or world boss suddenly spawn, even the defensive arrays might not hold.

That’s when the security team steps in to handle emergencies.

“Captain Shen, nice to meet you.”

Lin Mo replied politely. “Is there something you need?”

Shen Yifeng waved his hand and laughed heartily:

“Nothing major—just routine patrol.”

“I saw on the list that a prodigy from the Dragon Order Class is aboard, so I came over to say hello.”

Shen Yifeng looked at Lin Mo, his eyes filled with admiration:

“I’ve heard so much about this year’s standout talent from Jianghai City. Now that I see you, Student Lin Mo, you truly are impressive—dignified and commanding.”

“Anyone who makes it into the Dragon Order Class is a future pillar of Long Country, a true dragon among men.”

Though these words sounded like formalities, Shen Yifeng spoke them with genuine sincerity.

As a security captain who has long operated on the front lines, he understood better than anyone the significance of that Dragon Order Class badge.

It wasn’t just honor—it meant absolute strength and potential.

Lin Mo smiled modestly:

“Captain Shen, you flatter me. I just got lucky.”

“Ah, Student Lin, you’re too humble.”

Shen Yifeng grew serious:

“This journey is long, and we’ll pass through several dangerous wilderness zones.”

“But rest assured, every member of our security team is elite—your safety is guaranteed.”

“If you need anything, or run into any trouble, just let me know, or contact the train staff—they’ll reach me immediately.”

Lin Mo nodded:

“Alright, thank you, Captain Shen. I’ll speak up if I need anything.”

“Good. I won’t disturb your rest any longer.”

Shen Yifeng showed proper restraint; having delivered his greeting, he turned and left with Xiao Liu, continuing his patrol toward the rear carriages.

The two passed through two carriages and reached the designated smoking area at the connection.

Shen Yifeng pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took a deep drag.

The young recruit Xiao Liu, who had been trailing behind, finally couldn’t hold back.

“Captain… that’s Lin Mo?”

“He looks so ordinary. Besides being a bit good-looking, I don’t sense any aura of a powerhouse.”

Xiao Liu lowered his voice, tone tinged with skepticism:

“And isn’t he just a blank mage? Online rumors say he cleared the Trial Tower’s 30th floor? Cheated, right?”

At this, Xiao Liu sneered, as if he’d uncovered the whole truth:

“I heard his dad is Lin Tianhao, the War God, and his mom’s a mega-capitalist—rich and powerful. He probably just used connections to get into the Dragon Order Class…”

“Slap!”

Before he could finish,

Shen Yifeng swung his hand and smacked Xiao Liu hard on the back of the head.

Though he didn’t use full force, it still made Xiao Liu flinch.

“Hey Captain, why’d you hit me?”

Shen Yifeng glared at him, snapping:

“Shut down that petty thinking of yours!”

“Cheating on the exam? Using connections? What do you think the Dragon Order Class is?”

Shen Yifeng exhaled a smoke ring, his gaze turning deep:

“There, even if you’re the War God’s son, or the Son of Heaven’s son—if you lack strength, you get kicked out!”

Xiao Liu rubbed his head, still resentful:

“But… a blank mage is just too absurd…”

“Absurd?”

Shen Yifeng sneered:

“The world is full of absurd things.”

“Never judge true genius by your limited understanding.”

“If he can sit at the top of the Dragon Order Class as a blank mage, it proves he possesses terrifying abilities beyond ordinary people.”

Shen Yifeng crushed out his cigarette, his tone turning stern:

“Enough. We’ve received official notice—wilderness conditions are unstable lately, beast surges are frequent everywhere. Stay alert.”

Xiao Liu muttered under his breath:

“Captain, we’ve deployed three times the usual security force just to escort these students to the capital. What could possibly go wrong?”

Shen Yifeng’s eyes turned sharp:

“Three times? Even ten times won’t be enough—you must stay on full alert!”

“Remember this: on this train sit four Dragon Order Class students. They’re strategic-level talent for Long Country.”

“If they lose even a single hair… don’t think just stripping your skin will be enough—cutting you into pieces and throwing you into the wild to feed magic wolves would be too lenient!”

Hearing this, Xiao Liu felt a chill race up his spine.

“Yes… yes, Captain!”

Inside the luxurious carriage.

Lin Mo ordered his meal and leaned back by the window to rest.

The only thing bothering him was someone behind him, blasting a short video at maximum volume.

Soon,

a young female attendant pushed a cart up beside Lin Mo.

The girl looked about eighteen or nineteen, with a ponytail and a professional, sweet smile.

“Hello, what would you like to order?”

Lin Mo smiled and pointed to several items on the menu. “This, this, this… and this. And everything on this page—bring me one of each.”

The girl quickly noted the order, showing no visible surprise.

After all, who rode in the luxury carriage wasn’t rich or powerful?

“Alright, please wait a moment.”

After speaking, the girl didn’t leave immediately. Gathering courage, she said:

“Um… classmate, I’ve always admired Dragon Order Class students. Could I please take a photo with you? Just one!”

Seeing her hopeful, nervous expression, Lin Mo chuckled.

These days, going to school comes with fans?

Lin Mo casually straightened his collar and flicked his bangs with a flourish. “Alright then. The young master is in a good mood today—I grant your request.”

"Thank you! Thank you so much!"

The girl quickly pulled out her phone and leaned close to Lin Mo.

A soft click sounded.

The girl stared at the photo on her screen, her eyes shining like two stars.

"Classmate, you’re so photogenic! I just forgot to turn on beauty mode, but even without it, you don’t need any—your features are so sculpted..."

As she spoke, the girl’s face turned red.

"Hey, looks are given by your parents—you can’t change them. Every morning when I wake up and look in the mirror, I have to bow to them."

After hearing Lin Mo’s words, the girl burst into laughter.

"You’re so funny!"

"Then I won’t disturb your rest anymore—the meal will be brought to you right away!"

"Wait a moment."

Lin Mo stopped the girl as she was about to leave and pointed to the seat behind and to the left:

"Could you please remind that guy over there to lower his volume?"

The girl followed the direction of Lin Mo’s finger.

The loud audio from the short video clearly reached them.

"...The apocalypse has arrived! Zombies have overrun the globe! In my past life, my girlfriend betrayed me and had me eaten alive! Now I’ve been reborn three days before the outbreak—I sold everything I owned and hoarded goddesses..."
