Chapter 17: 16. Elemental Swordsman
16. Elemental Swordsman
The furnishings in Zoe's parents' room were also quite minimalist, though they had quite a few more things than she did.
There were bookshelves, a wardrobe, a storage rack, and a set of table and chairs with a mirror; Li Ang suspected the bottles and jars on it were cosmetics.
The wardrobe and storage rack were basically empty, with no obvious signs of use. They likely hadn't taken everything with them; they probably hadn't brought much when they first arrived on the island.
The bookshelves, however, were filled with quite a few books.
Li Ang spotted the famous Newbis fairy tale, *The Sword King's Adventure*, at a glance.
Noticing Li Ang's gaze resting on the bookshelf, Zoe stepped forward and pointed to the spine of one of the books: "I learned those words I said earlier from this book."
Li Ang pulled the book out, and his brow instantly furrowed.
*Secret Affairs of the Rebellious Loli Young Miss and Me in the Forest Mansion*.
He flipped through it casually, then felt that his expression at that moment probably looked like the "subway old man looking at his phone" meme.
Although there were no direct explicit descriptions, it was already in the realm of erotica.
He shoved the book back onto the shelf, discovering a whole series of similar reading material nearby; he didn't know if there were any truly banned books among them.
"These are all Mom's," Zoe said.
Your mother is really...
"You didn't read all of them, did you?" Li Ang asked.
"No, I only read the one you picked up. I didn't really understand it, and today you said I misunderstood the meaning inside."
"Yes, don't read them in the future either. These books will lead you astray."
Perhaps it was because the language was obscure that Zoe, who had grown up alone since the age of a first-grader, lacked the reading comprehension to fully grasp the content.
"Then what is 'correct'? Teach me."
Eh? I have to teach her?
In the three days since arriving on Satus Island, the headache level had been no less than planning tactics for the Sky Team.
"Let's not talk about this."
Li Ang looked at the other shelves, discovering some geography journals, sky charts, and books on ancient legends.
"These are Dad's books," Zoe explained.
If her parents were Sky Knights, it seemed her father was the one leading the direction of their adventures.
Among a row of books, one with the keyword "Sword" caught Li Ang's attention. He pulled it out and saw the title: *The Profound Meaning of Elements and Sword Arts*.
"Dad told me to learn this. I've always been practicing according to it," the young girl said.
Is that so?
Li Ang opened the book and discovered it was actually a manuscript. Although it wasn't signed, it was highly likely that her old man had written it.
On the first page, the book expounded on some exquisite sword art theories. Although they aligned with the understanding of some top-tier swordsmen, Li Ang had not cultivated a melee profession and couldn't quite understand them.
Flipping through a few more pages, he confirmed it was a sword manual—a cultivation guide for a special profession.
This profession was likely created by Zoe's dad; he must have been a top-tier powerhouse.
Even though Li Ang had advanced his profession to Rank 9, just one step away from the Rank 10 Legendary Realm, and even though he could write original spells using curse patterns—to the point where higher education institutions in the Magic Capital had sent him job offers—he was still far from the understanding required to create a new profession.
Flipping through a few pages quickly, the book was divided into four chapters, each explaining how to fuse the four elements—wind, earth, water, and fire—with sword arts, simultaneously producing attack effects similar to elemental magic while wielding a sword.
The learning difficulty of the four-element sword arts progressed sequentially, which was why Zoe was using wind-style sword arts.
Li Ang's thoughts stirred as he heard the system prompt.
【Prompt: Special profession inheritance discovered. Importing... Import complete. Special profession: Elemental Swordsman cultivation strategy generated.】
【The host can now take on the Swordsman profession. Upon reaching Rank 4, you can advance to Elemental Swordsman.】
【Swordsman-related profession detected: Warrior. Taking on the Swordsman profession can directly carry over a portion of experience progress.】
【Cultivation of the professions Elemental User, Wizard, and Shaman can reduce the difficulty of advancing to Elemental Swordsman and carry over experience progress.】
This book was indeed a complete sword art inheritance.
Li Ang definitely had to cultivate this special profession. He had previously been limited by his status as a spellcaster in certain crisis situations; now, with the system, wanting to cultivate a melee profession to cover his blind spots was like having a pillow handed to him when he was sleepy.
Zoe's father, whom I've never met, thank you. In return, I will look after your daughter... for a while.
"What are you thinking about?" Zoe asked softly from the side.
Recovering from the system panel, Li Ang smiled at her: "This is a very good sword manual. It's a treasure your dad left for you; keep it safe."
"I practice it very seriously every morning, following the daily curriculum Dad talked about," the young girl pouted.
What she said was true.
A Rank 2 Swordsman wasn't much in the grand scheme of the entire airspace, but at this age, many races were still developing their bodies, and their perception of magic power hadn't reached its peak. Even for melee professions, it was only by relying on the magic power in the atmosphere that the body could become tough.
Many future top-tier powerhouses weren't even as good as her at this age.
And the language in this sword manual was very profound; with her reading ability, it took time to understand. Even so, she had mastered "Profound Meaning—Gale Chain Slash" on her own.
A diligent and studious child always makes people feel favorable. Looking at the girl's earnest expression, Li Ang couldn't help but pat her head.
"I've understood this book; I'll teach you in the future."
Zoe was startled at first, then didn't resist, looking at him with the corners of her mouth slightly curled up.
There was nothing else worth noting on the bookshelf, and there weren't many things in the room; most of it held no information.
However, Li Ang eventually discovered something.
In a hidden spot in the corner of the storage rack, there was a round metal object.
"What is this? I've never seen it before."
It was gray and inconspicuous. Li Ang held it, and Zoe craned her neck to observe.
Its position was placed exactly in the blind spot of the petite girl's line of sight.
Using his thumb to wipe away the dust on the surface, Li Ang thought to himself: *As expected. *
This was a ranking medal issued by the Sky Knight Guild. Based on the airship wing pattern on it, Li Ang knew it belonged to a Sky Knight ranked between 2,000 and 50,000 in the entire airspace, with the title: High-Rank Knight.
Fifty thousand people seemed like a lot, but in the vast airspace, they were few and far between.
And ranks 100 to 2,000 were Great Knights. Li Ang was among them; his medal, on top of the wing pattern, also had a crossed gun and sword.
The title for the top 100 was "Saint Knight," an honor every adventurer dreamed of obtaining.
Ranking was based on merit; generally, it could be seen as strength, but it wasn't entirely consistent.
"Your parents were indeed Sky Knights, and their ranking was quite high, which means they went on many adventures."
Li Ang handed the medal to the girl.
"This is their ranking medal; in many places, it can be seen as a pass."
Zoe blinked her clear eyes, knowing nothing about this.
"You don't have to pay to go to many places, and you can even eat for free."
"Really?" Zoe stared at the medal: "Is the food delicious?"
"It's passable."
The guild's dining partners all had supply quotas based on ranking. By the time one reached the High-Rank Knight stage, one could eat for free, and in the eyes of Li Ang, who was used to eating good things, the quality of the meals was considered flavorful.
"Can I go eat?"
"Probably not; they verify identity."
Zoe looked very disappointed.
"Besides, to eat, you have to go to the islands outside, and you..."
Before Li Ang could finish his sentence, Zoe shook her head rapidly and shoved the medal back into Li Ang's hand.
"You don't want to leave the island?" he asked. ===== CHAPTER 18 =====
