Chapter 113: Fear

~5 min read 996 words

Just then, several young knights in Knight Academy uniforms walked over, their gazes unfriendly as they stared at Robin.

Leading them was a tall knight, his eyes bearing a hint of contempt, his tone full of provocation: "You are Allen Wilk Walter? I heard you defeated Tuoleisi?"

Robin's gaze cooled slightly, but his face remained calm: "That's right, it's me. May I ask who you are?"

The knight sneered, his tone tinged with arrogance: "I'm a friend of Tuoleisi, a senior trainee of the Knight Academy, Leon Gray. Allen, someone of your standing shouldn't embarrass yourself here."

A flash of coldness passed through Robin's eyes; he knew Leon Gray was sent by Tuoleisi to take revenge. Yet he did not flinch, replying coldly: "Leon, huh? My status is not for you to judge. If you have any grievance against me, say it outright."

Leon Gray's face darkened instantly; he hadn't expected Robin to dare retort him. He sneered, his tone carrying a hint of threat: "Allen Wilk, are you provoking me? Know that this is the Knight Academy, not your Wilk domain."

Robin gave a slight smile, his tone edged with coldness: "Are you the academy director? What right do you have to think I don't belong here?"

Leon's eyes flashed with anger; his companion quickly grabbed him to prevent him from acting in public, as an Instructor had already taken notice.

"Instructor Ma Qi, look over here."

After registration comes the routine test, to assess each knight's innate talent for class placement.

Leon and his group saw Robin step up to the test target and simultaneously broke into delighted smiles.

Tuoleisi snarled: "I've already tampered with it from above, guaranteeing he can't pass the test. When the time comes we'll all swarm him in the academy; as long as we don't kill him, just maim him, Viscount Wilk won't dare do anything."

Soon it was Robin's turn; Leon's top henchman Pipeng immediately pulled the power switch at the test target, then slipped away with a reassuring gesture toward the young Leon and Thomas.

Robin stood before the test target, his gaze steady as he looked at the device.

This is the Knight Academy's strength test, intended to evaluate the physical power of trainees. Within a special barrier, Life Force cannot be used, so only pure bodily strength applies.

"Give it your all and strike the target, no holding back; you have only three attempts!" senior tester Weiting stood nearby, his tone tinged with seriousness.

Robin nodded, inhaled deeply, and his muscles tensed instantly. He used no technique, merely channeling his whole‑body strength, and unleashed a fierce punch.

"Bang!"

The test target emitted a dull thud, then the display numbers surged, finally settling at "1000 lb."

Weiting glanced at the screen, nodded approvingly: "1000 lb, quite good for someone who just broke through the knight's threshold, excellent!"

He marked a check beside Robin's name, indicating he passed the test.

Leon Gray and his companions, standing aside, wore expressions of disbelief.

Especially Pipeng, whose face turned pale instantly, his body trembling.

"How… how is this possible?" Pipeng muttered softly, his tone edged with terror.

He clearly remembered that he had just tampered with the test target, doubling its tolerance.

That meant Robin would need to deliver 2000 lb of force to register a 1000 lb reading!

A 2000 lb force, even a normal knight aided by Life Force, could only just reach that level. Yet Robin, unable to use Life Force, achieved it with sheer bodily power!

"What… what kind of monster is this guy?" Leon's face grew grim, a flash of shock in his eyes.

Tuoleisi clenched his teeth, muttering a curse: "Damned, how can this guy be so strong?"

Robin was unaware the target had been tampered with; he simply completed the test as instructed.

He also had no clear sense of his own power limit, so he paid it little mind.

Robin's performance undeniably shocked and unsettled Leon Gray and his group.

They had originally planned to cheat so Robin would embarrass himself, even fail the test.

Robin's outstanding display completely shattered their scheme.

In the subsequent reaction and Life Force limit tests, Robin likewise excelled, all scores far surpassing peers, even reaching double their figures.

Even when Pipeng secretly raised the Life Force test difficulty fourfold, Robin still passed with ease.

This forced Leon and the others to reassess Robin's strength, even beginning to doubt whether they could truly handle him.

Leon's complexion turned dark, a hint of jealousy flashing in his eyes.

He had assumed Robin was merely a newly returned bastard son with no cultivation foundation, never expecting such power.

Tuoleisi clenched his teeth again, his heart filled with resentment and anger.

Their original plan had utterly failed, instead making Robin shine before everyone.

Robin himself paid no mind to the results; he simply fulfilled the requirements, unaware he'd become the focus of all eyes.

His calm and confidence made Leon and the others even more uneasy; they began to realize Robin might be more than an ordinary knight trainee, perhaps a true prodigy.

All three metrics were passed with top marks, and on top of that he became a Formal Knight at a young age; in the Minerva Knight Academy he counts as a prodigy.

As the tests ended, Robin's name spread rapidly through the Knight Academy, becoming the center of discussion.

Fortunately no one knew about Robin's demonic nature; otherwise the whole academy would have erupted.

Leon whispered: "This Allen must have cultivated two Breathing Methods, maybe more, otherwise his physical improvement wouldn't be possible."

Tuoleisi immediately refuted: "That's impossible. My father once said that mastering two Breathing Methods simultaneously is extremely difficult and risky; across the entire West, fewer than ten knights can truly do it."

"Those ten are basically Legendary Knights now," Pipeng added suddenly.

Leon nodded and said: "Tuoleisi, from now on we should keep some distance." With that, he left with Pipeng.
