Chapter 127: Infiltration

~6 min read 1,017 words

Lena's peaceful life was soon shattered.

The Wizard Council's influence gradually seeped into every corner of Obedi City, and they began to suppress and persecute the noble families within the city.

"The Wizard Council has set its sights on our family's wealth and influence, trying to control us to seize Obedi City's finances," Lena said, her voice edged with anger, "They first sent people to secretly threaten my father, demanding he hand over the family's financial authority. However, my father refused their demand."

A flash of pain crossed Lena's eyes: "The Wizard Council did not stop there. They began spreading rumors, framing our family as colluding with enemy nations, attempting to overturn Obedi City's rule.

Marquis Sonata, though trusting my father, had to temporarily strip our family of power under the pressure of the Wizard Council.

The Wizard Council's persecution did not cease. They dispatched a high-ranking Wizard—Morris Heicāo—to infiltrate the Weisite family manor and unleash a terrifying Curse spell.

"That night, a chilling scream suddenly rang through the manor," Lena said, her voice trembling, "My mother, younger brother, sister, and all the servants were corrupted by the Curse magic, turning into mindless monsters."

A tear glimmered in Lena's eyes, but she quickly suppressed her emotions: "My father gave his all, trying to protect us, but he was no match for Morris. In the end, he fell before me, and with his dying breath he said only one thing: 'Live on, avenge us.'"

Under her father's cover, Lena barely escaped the manor. She hid in the city's slums, living a wandering, destitute life. Once a noblewoman, she now became a homeless wanderer.

"During that time, I spent each day in pain and hatred," Lena said, her voice cold, "I know the Wizard Council won't let me go. They intend to completely erase our family's existence."

Lena was not crushed by hatred. She began covertly contacting other families and forces persecuted by the Wizard Council, forming a resistance group—"Silver Fox."

"We have been waiting for a chance to completely overthrow the Wizard Council's rule," Lena said, her voice firm, "If you can provide support, we are ready to cooperate fully."

"It's that Morris again."

Robin, after hearing Lena's account, felt a surge of intense anger and sympathy.

The Wizard Council's crimes were far more heinous than he had imagined.

"Lady Lena, your plight deeply grieves me," Robin said, his tone solemn, "The Minerva Knight Academy will fully support you, together confronting the Wizard Council."

A flash of gratitude crossed Lena's eyes, but she quickly regained composure: "Thank you for your support. However, the Wizard Council's power is immense; we have only one chance to act, and if we fail, there will be no second chance."

Robin nodded: "We understand. Next, we need to devise a meticulous plan to completely defeat the Wizard Council."

………………

On a night in Obedi City, moonlight was blocked by heavy clouds, and a thin mist drifted over the streets.

In a remote abandoned warehouse in East City, Akedun quietly appeared.

He wore a dark gray robe, the hood covering most of his face, revealing only a pair of eyes flickering with dim light.

Inside the warehouse, a man in a black robe had been waiting for a long time.

Akedun removed his hood, revealing a stern face, a faint smile at the corner of his mouth: "Morris, I didn't expect you to come meet me."

The black‑robed man was Morris Heicāo, a First Ring Wizard of the Wizard Council and an old acquaintance of Akedun. Hearing Akedun's words, his face darkened instantly, his tone edged with displeasure: "Akedun, stop teasing me here. I heard you recently took a big loss at Count Feibolin's side?"

Akedun chuckled lightly, his tone teasing: "I'm not that unlucky. I heard you were messed up by a few kids, even losing the Soul‑Eating Crystal?"

Morris's expression grew even darker, his tone irritated: "Don't bring that up. Why are you so eager to contact the Council? What's wrong with that old guy Sonata?"

Akedun's expression turned serious, and he nodded: "When I visited the old man today, I found many new faces around him, all from the Minerva Knight Academy."

Morris's brows slightly furrowed, his tone cautious: "Minerva Knight Academy? How did they suddenly get involved in Obedi City's affairs?"

Akedun shook his head, his tone heavy: "I'm not sure either. But those from the Knight Academy clearly aren't here for sightseeing. Their goal is clear: to protect Marquis Sonata."

A cold glint flashed in Morris's eyes: "It seems our plan has already been discovered by them. If the Minerva Knight Academy intervenes, things will become very troublesome."

Akedun nodded, his tone tinged with concern: "Exactly. Those few youngsters from the Knight Academy are formidable, especially that young Ailun Weierke Wofute, whose talent and potential are terrifying; he's already a Great Knight despite his youth."

Morris fell silent for a moment, then whispered: "We must act quickly. If the Knight Academy's people sabotage our plan, the Council's losses will be incalculable."

A cold glint crossed Akedun's eyes: "I have already placed a spy in the manor, able to monitor Marquis Sonata's movements at any time. However, we need more force to deal with the Knight Academy's people."

Morris nodded, his tone resolute: "I will request support from the Council, dispatching more high‑ranking Wizards. In any case, we cannot let the Knight Academy's people succeed."

Akedun's mouth twitched upward, a cold sneer appearing: "Don't worry, Morris. Marquis Sonata's manor is already under my control. Once the people of Fus's Hand arrive, we can act immediately."

Fus's Hand is the Wizard Council's black glove, dealing with matters that must stay in the shadows.

When Akedun left, Morris's face was grim.

Losing the Soul‑Eating Crystal was one thing, but that time the Knight Academy was captured was entirely because of that Ailun Weierke Wofute's illegitimate child, who has now resurfaced.

"This time, if I don't kill you, I won't be called Black Crow anymore," Morris said, not mentioning his loss to Robin, which was, after all, his own scandal.
