Chapter 58: Secret Chamber
On the second‑floor balcony, Robin only saw the system notification, confirming that Leimeng was already dead.
Only then did he slowly exhale, and his tense nerves relaxed a bit.
He knew the place was unsuitable for staying long, quickly readjusted his condition, and began scavenging through the castle.
He understood that the lord's lady and the children were likely hidden in some secret room, not appearing for a while, and he would be unable to locate them in a short time.
Thus, he decisively gave up searching for the secret room and headed straight for the study and the collection room.
Entering the study, Robin moved like a hungry cheetah, quickly rummaging through.
He flipped the books on the shelves one by one, the sound of paper rubbing unusually clear in the silent room.
In the collection room, he left no corner unchecked, carefully searching for anything of value.
After a bout of rummaging, he found only a thousand Gold Coins and a few ordinary Breathing Method manuals.
To his surprise, the Earth Dragon Breathing Method was also among them.
But when he examined them closely, disappointment rose; none contained the key Breathing Method that leads to the Great Knight Realm.
Thinking that he risked his life, barely escaped Leimeng, yet only got this, Robin grew increasingly irritated.
He clutched the Breathing Method manual tightly, brows furrowed, pondering what to do next.
"Just three sets of Ordinary Knight Breathing Method, what a hassle; I should've left a way out," Robin muttered, his face full of frustration. He turned to leave absent‑mindedly and kicked the nearby chair.
The kick threw his balance off, and he staggered toward the bookshelf.
In the panic, he reached out to steady himself, but in his clumsiness he pressed a row of books on the shelf, which then tumbled down with a clatter.
At that moment, a series of "squeak" sounds suddenly rang out, like an ancient mechanism being awakened.
Robin turned in surprise and saw the adjacent wall sliding slowly, revealing an underground passage.
The passage was filled with an old, mysterious aura, urging him to investigate.
Robin took a deep breath, steadied his nerves, and carefully descended the underground passage.
The passage was dim; torches on the walls flickered weakly, casting his slightly wary silhouette.
When he finally reached the underground, the sight before him made him gasp—it was a secret chamber.
After a close look, Robin was shocked; he realized this chamber was the Buluote Territory's sinful place used by Lord Bloet to siphon the Life Force of seven Knights.
In a corner of the chamber, an intricate Breathing Method was etched onto the wall, exuding a mysterious, evil aura.
On the other side of the chamber, Eric's corpse came into view; his eyes were wide open, as if bearing endless resentment and hatred.
Robin's body jolted; deep guilt and sorrow surged. He walked slowly to Eric's side, crouched, and with a slightly choked voice said, "I'm sorry, I'm late; I will avenge you and Lily." Then he reached out, gently closed Eric's open eyes, allowing him to rest.
At that moment, the hatred and anger in Robin's heart burned even hotter; he silently vowed to make the culprits pay a painful price.
Robin slowly rose, scanning the surroundings warily.
A strange aura filled the chamber, hinting that more unknown secrets or dangers lay hidden.
The walls were covered with odd Runes, their faint glow seeming to recite ancient, mysterious Incantations.
Robin approached the wall, scrutinizing the Runes for clues. Yet they were obscure; he racked his brain but could not decipher their meaning.
But based on past experience, he sensed the Runes were not mere decoration, perhaps linked to some powerful magic or mechanism.
In a corner of the chamber stood a massive Stone Coffin.
Exquisite patterns were carved on the Stone Coffin, seemingly depicting a fierce battle.
Robin felt a stir in his heart and slowly walked toward the Stone Coffin.
As he approached, a chill brushed his face, making him shiver.
He reached out, lightly touching the Stone Coffin; its surface was bone‑cold, as if from another world.
The lid was slightly loose; Robin hesitated, then decided to push it open.
As the lid moved slowly, a pungent odor hit him; Robin quickly covered his mouth and nose.
When the smell faded a bit, he looked inside and saw a corpse dressed in lavish attire lying within.
The body was remarkably intact, as if it had just fallen asleep.
When Robin saw the face, his mouth gaped in shock; the corpse was the Damia Great Knight who had fallen not long ago.
He had also attended the funeral of the Damia Great Knight Leader and personally buried the Damia Great Knight Leader.
The next second, Robin noticed a bizarre grin on the corpse's face, sending chills down his spine.
His finger brushed the corpse's clothing by accident; the fabric instantly turned to dust, revealing a Black Crystal on the chest.
The crystal emitted a mysterious glow, as if wielding great power, continuously siphoning the energy from the Damia Great Knight's body.
Just as Robin was about to pick up the crystal to investigate, a faint sound came from the chamber's entrance.
Startled, he quickly set the crystal down and hid beside the Stone Coffin.
A dark silhouette slowly entered the chamber, its form wavering in the dim light.
The silhouette seemed to notice Robin, halted, and scanned the surroundings warily.
Robin held his breath, heart pounding, his weapon gripped tightly, ready for any danger.
As the silhouette drew nearer, Robin finally saw its face—it was one of the Wizard Apprentices he had fought alongside Lord Bloet on the city walls.
Its face bore a manic expression, eyes flashing with greed.
When it saw the Black Crystal inside the Stone Coffin, a spark of delight flashed in its eyes, and it reached out without hesitation.
The instant its hand touched the crystal, the crystal burst with a brilliant flash, lighting the chamber as bright as day.
When the light faded, the Wizard Apprentice's body began to change oddly; its skin turned transparent, veins and bones visible, the whole figure becoming a monster.
The monster let out a roar and lunged at Robin.
Robin sprang quickly from behind the Stone Coffin, engaging the monster in a fierce battle.
The monster's power was immense; each attack carried tremendous force, and Robin could only barely fend it off.
During the fight, Robin noticed the monster's weakness seemed to lie on the Black Crystal at its chest.
Thus, he seized an opening, lunged at the monster, and the long Sword in his hand hammered into the crystal.
The monster sensed Robin's intent, tried to dodge, but it was already too late.
The weapon pierced the crystal; the crystal shattered instantly, emitting a huge roar.
The monster's body also collapsed to the ground, turning into a pool of blood.
On the blood lay a Sheepskin Diagram, bearing some bizarre, odd human sketches.
