Chapter 59: Thief
Robin let out a long sigh, and his tense nerves relaxed a bit.
He approached the pool of blood, ready to examine it, but found a Sheepskin Diagram floating on the blood.
He carefully picked it up and saw that it depicted some bizarre, odd human sketches.
The human forms in these drawings were twisted, vastly different from normal human anatomy; some limbs were slender, joints bent at strange angles;
Others were covered in odd markings, like some mysterious symbols.
Robin furrowed his brow, trying to decipher something from the sketches.
This might be intricately linked to the Bloet Lord and the wizards' evil scheme. Perhaps these strange human sketches are records of some vile ritual or experiment, or maybe they hold the key to summoning greater power.
In any case, the Sheepskin Diagram was undoubtedly a major discovery.
After dealing with the monster, Robin continued to search the secret chamber meticulously, leaving no corner that might hide crucial information unchecked.
His gaze fell on the shattered black robe beside the pool of blood, and his heart stirred; he crouched and began rummaging.
Sure enough, beneath the black robe he found a notebook.
Robin gently opened the notebook, glanced casually, and the first page's contents actually made his heart rejoice.
It prominently recorded the Black-robed Man's reflections on his first practice of the Basic Meditation Method.
"Meditation Method! Not bad," Robin muttered softly, fully aware of its importance for boosting his own strength.
He hesitated not at all, swiftly packed the notebook, Sheepskin Diagram, and the previously found diary together, and carefully placed them into his portable satchel.
At that moment, the secret chamber was suffused with an atmosphere of deathly silence intertwined with mystery.
Robin knew the place was unsuitable for lingering; he decisively turned and headed toward the chamber's exit.
His footsteps hurried, and in the dim underground passage his figure receded farther and farther.
Yet, shortly after Robin left, a strange change occurred in the chamber.
The previously shattered crystal, under the influence of the blood pool, began to reconstitute.
Threads of crystalline light rose from the blood, converging toward the broken crystal.
The crystal shards seemed drawn by some mysterious force, moving slowly, snapping together, gradually restoring to a whole form.
The reformed crystal emitted an even richer mysterious aura, its light flickering erratically, as if awaiting the next intruder or brewing a greater crisis.
Robin escaped from Winston City with a close call.
And within the city, the situation had already turned upside down.
Ka Jia Ni, relying on his bizarre power, finally dealt with the Bloet Lord.
He, bearing the posture of a victor, came alone to that mysterious secret chamber.
Upon entering the chamber, Ka Jia Ni instantly saw the blood on the ground and the black crystal emitting strange light.
A faint grin curled his lips, revealing a smug smile. "Fool, you mustn't touch that with your hands!" he muttered low, pulling a delicate box from his chest. Then his hands fluttered rapidly in the air, casting Mage's Hand.
A giant Illusory Hand, formed from Magic Power, materialized out of nowhere, slowly reaching for the black crystal and steadily drawing it into the Wooden Box.
After completing all that, Ka Jia Ni still seemed unsatisfied. A fierce glint flashed in his eyes, and he muttered incantations, unleashing a powerful fire spell.
In an instant, raging flames ignited from all directions, quickly spreading across the entire castle.
The castle, inherited by the Bloet Family for nearly a century, under the raging fire emitted a "crackle" sound, as if moaning in agony.
As the fire spread, the castle walls began to collapse, beams snapped, and finally the structure fell amid a deafening roar.
The incident was like a massive bomb, swiftly shocking the entire Ka Mei Long Wang Guo.
News spread like wildfire, and people debated how the Brot Viscount's Domain's defenses were so weak that the Black Bear Thieves Guild easily breached it.
The lord and his knights all fell in battle, and Winston City suffered a barbaric massacre by the Black Bear Thieves Guild, leaving barely any survivors among the townsfolk.
For a moment, the whole kingdom was in panic, people's fear of the Black Bear Thieves Guild and anxiety for their own safety hanging over everyone like a dark cloud.
Of course, these matters were beyond Robin's current control.
He rode a seized brown warhorse, slowly advancing along the winding bridle path.
Yet, just as he prepared to bypass a dense forest, a clamor suddenly reached his ears.
Robin's brow twitched slightly, and he immediately tightened the reins, listening intently.
"Help! Thieves!"
"Run! There are too many of them!"
Robin's gaze instantly sharpened. He swiftly dismounted, tied the horse to a nearby tree trunk, then retrieved the Pulley Composite Bow from his back and silently slipped toward the source of the sound.
Through a thicket, Robin saw a scene that tightened his brow—a small caravan was being besieged by a band of thieves.
Most of the caravan's guards had already fallen, and the few remaining fought desperately, clearly unable to hold on much longer.
The thieves brandished swords, their faces twisted in feral smiles, as if the caravan's loot were already theirs.
Robin's eyes swept the battlefield quickly, and a plan formed in his mind. He gently drew the Pulley Composite Bow; the string, aided by the pulley system, tightened effortlessly, and the arrow rested steadily on the string.
"Whoosh!"
The first arrow shot through the air, striking a thief's chest with pinpoint accuracy.
The massive impact hurled him skyward, he crashed heavily onto the ground, instantly losing his fighting ability.
"Ambush!" the thieves shouted, panicking, scanning around for the arrow's source.
Yet Robin moved faster. His fingers danced on the string like phantoms, releasing arrow after arrow, each hitting its target with precision.
The thieves fell one after another, their screams rising in waves.
"Reinforcements! We're saved!" someone in the caravan shouted, their voice tinged with post‑raid relief.
The thieves finally realized the danger and began scattering in all directions.
Robin did not pursue; instead he quickly moved beside the caravan, scanning the area vigilantly to ensure no one escaped.
"Thank you, sir, for stepping in!" a middle‑aged man hurried to Robin, his face full of gratitude. He wore an opulent long robe, clearly the caravan's leader.
Robin nodded, his tone calm: "Just a small favor, no need for thanks."
The middle‑aged man hurriedly introduced himself: "I am the person in charge of this Caravan, named Camille. We were originally heading to the Tutan Gate province in the south of the kingdom, but we didn't expect to encounter the Thief Guild here. Had you not intervened in time, we would have…"
Robin waved his hand, cutting him off: "Although the Thief Guild has temporarily retreated, there's no guarantee they won't return. What are your plans now?"
