Chapter 93: Pursuit in the Forbidden Zone

~6 min read 1,168 words

"Lao Mao… perhaps he can help me." Robin felt a stir in his heart, recalling the Talisman and explosive crystal Lao Mao had given him earlier.

Although Lao Mao's motives are unclear, at least for now it seems he doesn't intend to harm me.

Robin took the Talisman from his chest and sensed its faint Magic Wave.

This Talisman can not only conceal his Magic Wave, but also contact Lao Mao at critical moments.

"Let's try it." Robin whispered, then infused Magic Power into the Talisman.

The Talisman flickered faintly, then Lao Mao's deep voice came: "Robin? Are you still alive?"

Robin let out a sigh of relief and answered softly: "Yes, I escaped. Ka Jia Ni and the Wizard Council are fighting, and I took the chance to get away."

Lao Mao was silent for a moment, then said: "You did well. Now you must leave the area of Tutamen City as soon as possible and head north to the Ashen Wasteland. There the Wizard Council and Black Wizard forces cannot reach, and you can be temporarily safe there."

Robin frowned: "Ashen Wasteland? Isn't that the legendary forbidden zone?"

Lao Mao smiled: "Precisely because it's a forbidden zone, it's suitable for you to hide. Moreover, there are some ancient ruins that might help you increase your strength."

Robin nodded, having a rough understanding of Lao Mao's plan.

He now has no other choice but to act according to Lao Mao's instructions.

"Alright, I'll head to the Ashen Wasteland as soon as possible." Robin whispered.

Lao Mao's voice came again: "Remember, be careful on the road. People of the Wizard Council and Black Wizard may set ambushes along the way. I'll wait for you in the Ashen Wasteland."

The Talisman's glow faded, Robin put it away, took a deep breath, and stood up.

Robin quickly organized his gear and moved toward the north.

To avoid being tracked, he chose a remote path, passing through dense forest and barren mountains.

All the way, he stayed vigilant, using the Spirit Snake Breathing Method to boost his agility and perception, avoiding contact with any possible foes.

After a few days, Robin finally reached the edge of the Ashen Wasteland.

The sight made him gasp a cold breath—no grass grew on the wasteland, the ground was riddled with charred fissures, and the air was filled with a scorching aura, as if the land had once been scorched by fire.

"This is the Ashen Wasteland…" Robin muttered softly, a flash of awe in his eyes.

The wasteland is called a forbidden zone because a cataclysmic wizard war once raged here.

That war not only destroyed the land but also left countless dangerous magical traps and ruins.

Robin inhaled deeply and stepped into the Ashen Wasteland.

Though dangerous, it is the only place where he can be temporarily safe.

Not long after he entered the wasteland, a low rumble suddenly came from afar.

Robin quickly ducked behind a boulder, watching the source of the sound warily.

In the distant sky, a black energy wave collided violently with a scorching flame, erupting in dazzling light.

"Ka Jia Ni and the Wizard Council's people… they actually chased all the way here!" Robin felt a shock, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

He must find Lao Mao quickly, otherwise he cannot survive in this wasteland.

He sprinted toward the deep wasteland, trying to avoid the battle behind.

As he was about to enter an ancient ruin, a cold voice came from behind.

"Luobin Gabriel, do you think you can escape?"

Robin whirled around and saw Ka Jia Ni standing not far away, a strange light flickering in his eyes.

His black robe rustled in the wasteland wind, and the staff in his hand radiated thick Black Dark Magic.

"Ka Jia Ni…" Robin whispered the name, his heart full of caution.

Ka Jia Ni sneered: "I didn't expect you to make it here. Yet the Ashen Wasteland will be your grave!"

Robin gripped his Sword tightly, his Life Force and Magic Power surging together.

"Ka Jia Ni, your death time has come!" Robin said coldly, then swung his Sword at Ka Jia Ni.

Robin's Sword blade glittered with golden light, aiming at Ka Jia Ni's throat.

Ka Jia Ni merely waved his hand lightly, and a pitch‑black barrier appeared before him.

The blade struck the barrier, emitting a harsh scraping sound, but it could not break through.

"The power of ants dares to oppose me?" Ka Jia Ni sneered, then waved his staff, sending a black energy wave at Robin.

Robin rolled quickly to dodge, but the energy wave was too fast; he barely avoided the vital area, but his left shoulder was grazed, sending a surge of intense pain.

"Damn…" Robin growled through clenched teeth, feeling the searing pain; his shoulders had been injured twice, and this time it might truly cripple him.

He could no longer match Ka Jia Ni; pressing on would only be a needless death.

Ka Jia Ni clearly had no intention of giving Robin any respite.

He waved his staff, and the surrounding Black Dark Magic coalesced rapidly into countless black Sharp Blades, hovering in the air, pointing at Robin.

"It's over, Luobin Gabriel." Ka Jia Ni said coldly, then swung his staff, launching the black Sharp Blades at Robin.

Robin clenched his teeth, exerting all his strength to block with his Sword, but the sheer number of black Sharp Blades was overwhelming; his blade could only barely shatter a few, while the remaining blades closed in on his vital points.

At that hair‑trigger moment, a dark silhouette suddenly surged from the side, blocking Robin.

The black Sharp Blades struck the silhouette, producing a dull thud, as if hitting an indestructible barrier.

"Lao Mao?!" Robin exclaimed in surprise, looking at the figure blocking him—it was Lao Mao.

Lao Mao didn't turn around, only whispered: "Step back, I'll handle this."

Ka Jia Ni, seeing this, showed a flash of surprise in his eyes: "Who are you? How dare you meddle in my affairs!"

Lao Mao sneered, his tone laced with contempt: "Ka Jia Ni, you think that reaching the First Ring Wizard level lets you do as you please? Today is your death time."

Ka Jia Ni roared, waved his staff, and unleashed a powerful Black Dark Magic wave at Lao Mao.

Lao Mao swiftly swung the dagger in his hand, a silver flash cutting through the darkness, easily neutralizing Ka Jia Ni's attack.

Robin stepped aside, his mind filled with shock.

He hadn't expected Lao Mao's power to be so great, able to effortlessly deflect Ka Jia Ni's attack.

Ka Jia Ni clearly didn't expect Lao Mao's power to be so terrifying; a flash of panic crossed his eyes, but was quickly replaced by anger: "Who exactly are you, a fallen angel? Or the Wizard Council?"

He brandished his staff, and the Black Dark Magic within his body surged wildly, the surrounding air seeming to be dyed black.
