Chapter 580: Completion Reflections

Completion Reflections

Writing "The End" — a weight lifts from my shoulders.

I never originally thought I would write a novel myself; I was always a reader of others' work. Back then I was following Old Bai Niu's "A Border Soldier in Late Ming." Later, when "Little Soldier" went on hiatus, I had nothing left to read. So one day I decided to give it a try. The impulse came from a military enthusiast's fervent fantasies about war, and a lament for that era.

I began researching materials in April 2012, started writing in June, and uploaded in August. Gradually, writing became a part of my daily repetitive life. Though the enjoyment remained, my spirit was already very weary. At completion, the collection count was 35,119. If I had continued writing, I certainly could have padded out many more words, but I felt my condition declining, and my health hasn't been great lately either, so I hastily put down the pen.

Historical fiction involves many aspects, and my ability is limited. Please forgive any shortcomings. The main storyline ends here. Some plot holes remain unfilled, and the fates of some characters have not been fully resolved. When my condition recovers, I will release these in side-story form for free in the related works section. Book friends interested in certain characters are also welcome to write and post in the book review section; suitable ones I will compile into the related works.

"Late Ming" has had a bumpy journey, as mentioned before. Its current achievements are all thanks to the book friends. Thank you all for accompanying me through these two years. Thanks to all book friends, group friends, and forum friends for your support. Thanks to Qidian editors Dong Gua and Lan Guang, and also to friends who have privately helped "Late Ming" — Lonely Swordsman, Old Bai Niu, Tu Tu De Bao Zi, Vice Moderator Xi Yang Chen Zui, and others. Special thanks to Xi Yang Chen Zui, who also took on nearly all the classical Chinese writing. Without everyone's help, "Late Ming" might have ended long ago.

By the way, it's the end of the month, so one last request for monthly tickets. I bow.
