Chapter 47: Breaking Viewership Records, the Favor of the Columbia Broadcasting System!

At the same time!

China Central Television!

Inside the office of Chen Zhiguo, the general director of the program "Simulated Crime"!

A sharp telephone ring suddenly interrupted Chen Zhiguo's movements.

Seeing this, he picked up the phone quite casually: "Hello?"

The next second, the voice coming from the other end of the line instantly made his eyes widen, and he gasped:

"What did you just say? The program's popularity has almost broken 800 million?"

"Yes, Director Chen! It has already broken 800 million!"

Inside the control room, Chief Director Zhang Yiwen said with a radiant face:

"Moreover, it is not just the popularity; the ratings have also hit a new high, reaching 78. At this rate, I estimate it will break 80 before long!"

"Director Chen, do you know what a rating of 80 means?"

Chen Zhiguo was an old media hand, after all; how could he not know what an 80 percent rating meant?!

A rating of 80!

Not to mention all of Huaxia, even looking at the whole world, which program could achieve a rating of 80?

At the beginning of the program's planning, he had thought that breaking 100 million in popularity and 20 in ratings would be about enough.

The current result had completely exceeded his expectations!

While Chen Zhiguo was still in shock, Zhang Yiwen continued excitedly:

"Director Chen, a rating of 80 has already broken the viewership record set by the 58th Super Bowl!"

The United States' Super Bowl is, in itself, just a football game in the United States.

That is, the NFL!

The full name is the National Football League Annual Championship!

But due to its related cultural attributes, through long historical changes and development, the Super Bowl has gradually evolved into an unofficial nationwide holiday in the United States!

To a certain extent, the television broadcast of the Super Bowl can basically be equated to the Huaxia Spring Festival Gala; its level of attention can be said to be extremely high!

Because it is not just the United States.

This event has a certain influence on a global scale!

For many years, its television broadcast has always been the highest-rated television program in the United States and the world; no television program has ever been able to break the viewership record it created!

But today, the ratings of the program "Simulated Crime" have quite easily made its viewership record history!

This matter might sound somewhat insignificant.

But in reality, this is absolutely a qualitative leap for Huaxia television programs!

At this very moment, Chen Zhiguo and Zhang Yiwen knew very clearly that the reason this program could achieve such results was all because of that young man risking his Life on Mount Everest!

If not for him, the ratings of this program would definitely not have reached this height!

At most, it would only have had some influence within Huaxia!

But right now!

Because of Chu Chen's existence, especially the Extreme Eight Items he proposed, it directly magnified the influence of "Simulated Crime" infinitely, and it already had a trend of spreading on a global scale!

"Where are you right now? Are you in the control room?"

"I am!"

Zhang Yiwen answered excitedly!

"Wait for me there, I'm coming over right away!"

"Okay, I'll wait for you!"

At the same time!

On the other side!

United States, New York!

Columbia Broadcasting System!

As the most popular television broadcasting company in the United States, the prime-time series of CBS have always been in the spotlight!

During this period, "Person of Interest," which had been serialized on CBS prime time for a long time, was about to reach its finale, yet a new program had not been settled!

At this moment, inside the office of the production team's director, Mike Lean!

As the company's production director, Mike had been busy planning a new prime-time program these past few days!

But after thinking it over, he had no leads.

Originally, he had wanted to invest in an American drama to break the viewership record of "Person of Interest," but he never encountered a good script.

Even if there was one he liked, the asking price was outrageous.

For a time, this left him in a bit of a dilemma.

The company's stance was to abandon traditional series, open up a new track, and create a new prime-time variety show to take the place of "Person of Interest"!

Because right now, it is the dividend period for the variety show track.

Many broadcast television networks around the world are taking this opportunity to get a piece of the pie!

This time, if CBS's transformation can succeed, there will definitely be great prospects in the future!

And he also wanted CBS to have a new attempt!

For this matter, in recent days, Mike has often worked through the night, looking for material, brainstorming ideas, and putting together proposals.

Yesterday, he worked all night at the company again.

Yet even so, he still had nothing to show for it; he hadn't even finalized the general direction for the new program!

Singing? Talent show? Mystery event tracking?

For a moment, these things made Mike's head spin!

But right now, with only one week left until the series finale of *Person of Interest*, there really wasn't much time left for him!

Thinking of this, Mike sighed in discouragement, picked up his phone, opened YouTube, and began scrolling through it quite casually.

As it turned out, after scrolling through only a few posts, he came across a clip of Chu Chen challenging "Earth Awakening" above Swallow Cave in Mexico!

At first, he thought this was a highlight clip from some movie!

But when he opened the comment section, he discovered that it was actually a real-life event!

And this event had happened just a few days ago!

The protagonist of the event is named Chu Chen, a young man from Huaxia who just turned nineteen this year!

Right now, he is participating in a live variety show called *Simulated Crime*!

In this program, he proposed an extreme sports concept called "Extreme Eight Items," and right from the start, he put on a great show for many viewers by directly hijacking an armored transport plane of the Huamo Transport Bank!

As for the Huaxia Yuan he stole, he distributed them all to the poor in the slums of Mexico?

Subsequently, he displayed various extraordinary Crime Talent and many stunning criminal techniques in the program, which were also quite amazing!

Facial alteration, Disguise, combat!

Right now, he is on the world's highest peak, evading capture by pursuers while carrying out his second challenge!

As an experienced and discerning senior media professional, after gaining an in-depth understanding of the entire event, a surge of irrepressible excitement suddenly welled up in Mike's heart!

He felt as if he saw an unprecedented opportunity beckoning to him!

And this opportunity was to introduce the program *Simulated Crime* into the North America market!

To say nothing else, if this could be achieved, he would bet his reputation that this program would surely become the ratings hegemon of North America, dominating prime time!

At this moment, Mike had even begun to fantasize about the scene of ratings climbing steadily and advertisers flocking to them...

Thinking of this, he stood up on the spot, grabbed his phone, and rushed into the general manager's office!

……
