Chapter 87: Target: Kisangani, the Expert Team's Investigation!

In the blink of an eye, night fell.

The vast plateau was shrouded in endless black.

Yet the surging Congo River had not changed its ferocity.

At this moment, the live broadcast screen was pitch black; nothing could be seen.

Only a beam of light from a headlamp could be seen, swaying incessantly over the water's surface.

Aside from this beam of light, heavy, ragged breathing would occasionally interject, and just listening to it made one feel involuntarily anxious, fearing that Chu Chen might meet with some accident!

The challenge had only just begun at this point.

Right now, his current position was exactly at the start of the upper reaches of the Congo River, about three or four hundred kilometers away from the Kisangani Waterfall Group.

According to Chu Chen's current navigation speed.

If everything goes smoothly throughout the journey, he should arrive at Kisangani tomorrow morning.

The Kisangani Waterfall Group is the true starting point of the Congo River Extreme Abyss Drifting challenge.

This waterfall group has a total of 7 major waterfalls; although their flow and drop cannot compare to the final Livingstone, they are still very shocking!

Especially the tallest among them, the Hell's Gate Waterfall, which is a full 900-plus meters wide with a maximum drop of 50 meters, equivalent to the height of a 16-story building!

And this was not even the most lethal part.

The most lethal part was that this was only one of them!

The remaining six, along with some scattered smaller waterfalls, were also not to be underestimated!

It could be said that if an Extreme Abyss Drifter could pass through Kisangani unscathed, they could be considered a force to be reckoned with!

……

……

……

Meanwhile!

Huaxia, Yanjing!

While Chu Chen was driving his kayak, heading straight for Kisangani in the dark of night, after some effort, Lin Xu finally discovered Chu Chen's tracks in the saved footage from the satellite surveillance!

"I've found something!"

Hearing his shout, Liu Xuemin, who was discussing the capture work of other contestants with three other experts, immediately put down his work and walked to his side.

"What's the situation?"

"After robbing the Arms Transport Vehicle, Chu Chen left Cape Town immediately and went to Belgravia Mountain within Kimberley."

As he spoke, Lin Xu paused a surveillance frame and enlarged it for Liu Xuemin to see.

On the surveillance screen, Chu Chen was sitting in the cab of that Arms Transport Vehicle, driving along the provincial highway toward Kimberley!

"What is he doing in that place?" Liu Xuemin muttered involuntarily while looking at the surveillance screen.

"Not clear, the trees on the mountain blocked the view."

Liu Xuemin did not believe that this move by Chu Chen was unintentional; he directly had Lin Xu fast-forward the surveillance video.

Through the surveillance, they discovered that Chu Chen had stayed on the mountain for about three hours, and it wasn't until the afternoon that he drove the vehicle down from the mountain.

"For such a long time, what was he doing on the mountain?"

Looking at the surveillance, Lin Xu couldn't help but ask.

Liu Xuemin was also puzzled by this question, but for a moment, he couldn't think of any reason.

He just had a vague premonition that this was likely a part of his criminal plan.

After coming down the mountain, Chu Chen drove all the way to the outskirts of Kimberley, and then snuck into its main urban area, where he stayed in a small inn.

Based on this clue, the famous De Beers soon entered the two men's line of sight!

And by this point, Liu Xuemin finally understood his purpose for coming to South Africa: "This kid's target is not Amsco at all, but De Beers! Lin, notify Zhou Yun and Chen Xiong immediately, tell them to lead their teams to fly to South Africa as soon as they land, join up with Zhuang Yan and Zheng Yang, and thoroughly investigate this De Beers lead!"

"What's wrong, Liu Lao?"

Just as Liu Xuemin finished giving his orders, Chen Zijin walked over.

Upon hearing this, Liu Xuemin said: "We've found Chu Chen's whereabouts."

"Oh?" As soon as he heard about Chu Chen, this guy immediately became interested.

Then, Liu Xuemin added: "After robbing the Arms Transport Vehicle, he first went to Belgravia Mountain in Kimberley, and then snuck into the city center of Kimberley. Following this lead, we discovered that his target for this trip is likely the famous De Beers..."

"De Beers? The De Beers that monopolizes the world's diamond mining business and sales channels?"

Liu Xuemin nodded.

After exchanging a glance with him, Chen Zijin seemed to realize something and immediately had Lin Xu upload the map of Kimberley to the big screen in the Command Room!

Looking at the map of Kimberley and recalling Chu Chen's trajectory, Chen Zijin suddenly discovered the crux of the matter:

"His target might not be De Beers, but that Kimberley Diamond Mine..."

As soon as Chen Zijin said this, all the experts were stunned.

As the star product of De Beers, the name of the Kimberley Diamond is almost known to everyone.

Zhu Guowei: "Diamond mine?"

Wang Ruomei: "Do you mean that his purpose in robbing those weapons was actually to target that diamond mine?"

Chen Zijin nodded and said: "Below Belgravia Mountain is the famous Kimberley mining area. After robbing the Arms Transport Vehicle, the reason he went there first is likely that he wanted to scout the location in advance and then wait for an opportunity to act."

"Then why didn't he make a move? Was he discovered?" Wang Ruomei asked suddenly.

"Not clear, perhaps the timing wasn't right, or perhaps there were other reasons..."

The next second, while the few were talking, Lin Xu found another key clue and called them all over:

"Come take a look at this."

As he spoke, he pointed to the enlarged image of Chu Chen on the computer screen:

"This is the footage captured by the surveillance in the underground garage of the De Beers Building when he entered. After he entered the garage, all the surveillance videos for that day were wiped clean, and they didn't return to normal until the next day. If my guess is correct, he must have tampered with them..."

"Can it be restored?" Liu Xuemin asked.

Lin Xu shrugged and said, "No. If it were just a simple programmatic deletion, there might be a way, but he likely destroyed the hard drives and the source files directly."

"Did he never come out of the underground garage after that?" Liu Xuemin asked again.

Lin Xu let out a breath and said, "Let me check."

After saying this, he clattered away at the keyboard, flipping through several pages of surveillance footage from the garage exit, but he did not find any sign of Chu Chen.

"Disappeared again?" Wang Ruomei asked in confusion.

Just then, Chen Zijin suddenly said:

"Use the satellite to check if there was any activity at the Kimberley mining area on the second day he disappeared."

Hearing this, Lin Xu immediately followed suit, pulling up the satellite surveillance system again to take a look.

As it turned out, you wouldn't know until you looked, and once you saw it, it was shocking!

The moment they saw Chu Chen take off his mask and blow up the entire Belgravia Mountain, everyone in the Command Room couldn't help but gasp!
