Chapter 23: Dialogue with 'God
Blue, in many instances, represents the evolution of wisdom.
Because the hue of blue makes one feel mysterious, composed, and provides a comfortable sense of relaxation. It seems to fit the color of the thought process perfectly.
And in reality, this is indeed the case; many times, when people express wisdom and progress, or express that their own position is righteous and superior, they choose to use shades of blue to hint at their identity.
Although in reality they might not be superior, nor do they have the ability, the hue itself implies a suggestion.
Humans are visual creatures; a suggestion that looks very wise can make people naturally full of a preconceived notion, believing that the blue side is safer.
"However, some people are the exact opposite; they believe that fiery red, noble purple, or the green of life are more worthy of trust. Don't you think this is a coincidence? These hues happen to divide our world."
"..."
The one talking to Li Ang in front of him was himself.
But unlike in his memory, the face of this Li Ang looked softer and possessed a kind of archaic, scholarly air.
Between the brows were light blue whiskers and hair, matching the glowing spiral pupils; the Li Ang now sitting opposite seemed full of a certain noble and steady intellectual temperament.
"Hello, Li Ang. I am you, a possibility of you. I am the servant of the God of Wisdom, and I am the God of Wisdom itself."
It said with a smile, extending its palm.
"Let us have a chat, right here in this infinitely changing world. We can never be separated. Can we?"
"Prompt: You are currently conducting a debate with the Continent-level Psionic Subconscious Aggregate (Ascending) God of Wisdom!"
"If you successfully complete the debate, you will receive a blessing from the God of Wisdom. You may also abandon this debate and leave this scene without accepting any blessing."
"But someone will remember your choice."
"..."
Heh, 'God'.
Continent-level is a joke. It's only a planet-level after ascending.
Looking at the palm extended by the God of Wisdom, Li Ang raised an eyebrow and did not take it.
Because in his memory, he had already held that hand.
Not just held it; they had even chatted happily in this azure torrent, and within this world of distorted space-time, they seemed to have talked countless times.
From his present to the future, from the past to now, those plans, the support he wanted, the rewards he received, and the endless wisdom and future—it seemed all the changes of all things were upon that palm.
But looking at the palm the God of Wisdom had extended countless times, Li Ang finally sighed.
Damn it, you sore-losing piece of trash.
Why does he pretend nothing happened and start over every time I break his composure? Looking at the God of Wisdom opposite who was still smiling as if nothing had happened, Li Ang couldn't help but sigh.
"How should I put it, this one, uh, let's call you the God of Wisdom for now. There are some things in your countless words that make me feel ridiculous."
"... Oh?"
Sitting on the high-backed chair opposite, the avatar of the God of Wisdom frowned its blue brows in displeasure.
"Then I am truly curious. Although I have already obtained the answer within my wisdom, I prefer to see variables. You wouldn't still be trying to refute me with some nonsense, would you?"
"Do you know what a gamma-ray burst is?"
"What...?" "It is a grand astronomical phenomenon, the most brilliant self-detonation of a star when it is dying; its jet can span hundreds of thousands of light-years, killing all life on all planets within this intense neutron stream."
Li Ang sat calmly opposite the avatar of wisdom and said flatly: "But this astronomical phenomenon, from the macroscopic perspective of the entire universe, is an insignificant trifle. I want to see my civilization stand upon the Great Wall structure; I want my civilization to touch the edge of the event horizon and witness the traces that the fire from the beginning of creation is still burning into this universe."
"A very wonderful concept, but I believe this should only be a hypothesis."
"Humans live by relying on hypotheses, God of Wisdom."
Li Ang's voice in the infinitely changing world converged toward a whole, an essential summary.
"Pretending that if one works hard there will be results, pretending that one's life will definitely be happy and fulfilling, pretending that this world is free of injustice... People live on by relying on one deception after another.
But all hypotheses are for the sake of one truth. That is to survive, to survive better as one's own self. This is the struggle that all intelligent life undergoes for survival.
This struggle, this ugliness of surviving, is the continuation of civilization."
Looking at that azure avatar, the voices of the infinite Li Ang gradually merged into one, overlooking that distorted false god.
"We deceive ourselves, we grovel, we babble, we use false concepts to disguise a magnificent picture and deceive everyone by claiming this world is too vast. But all of this is to survive better. And you, in the future you provide, I cannot see our existence.
Because we must survive in the end. Even if it means killing wisdom, even if it means destroying life, even if it means deconstructing war and leaving culture and everything non-existent, all things in this world can be destroyed, but we must continue to exist.
This is civilization, and this is me."
"Your heretical theories will never convince me."
Looking at the silent God of Wisdom, Li Ang smiled and patted its cheek.
And in that instant, the concept of time seemed to blur once again.
It seemed it was going to start over again.
But looking at the symbol of wisdom suppressing its anger, Li Ang thought for a moment and added his own heartfelt words.
"But I am looking forward to your arrival. I am also looking forward to one day dragging you out of the Subspace and making you submit to my will. After all, if a game has no enemies and no variables, then there is no fun, is there?"
"..."
As if shocked by these words, that azure existence stared at Li Ang, dumbfounded, for a long time.
Then, it revealed a smile.
"Then I wish us a pleasant game."
The next instant, heaven and earth spun, and that azure torrent seemed as if it had never existed, allowing Li Ang's will to return to the original location.
"... My Lord?"
"No, it's nothing, just discovered a small problem."
Waving his hand at the questioning servant, Li Ang looked at the marks on his palm and rubbed his head indifferently.
He didn't care about such things; after all, he could leave at any time, but to be honest, he was a bit unwilling not to get any rewards.
However, after talking to the so-called god, Li Ang did indeed discover a small problem of his own.
Or rather, a quite serious problem.
Li Ang has not returned to his hometown for a week.
Could his own body have died on the bed? (End of this chapter)
