Chapter 24: Anyway, let's take the opportunity to swipe some things first

~7 min read 1,295 words

"You have received the gift of the God of Wisdom!"

"You have received a special status: Observation of the God of Wisdom."

"In the great game, countless humans and gods have exchanged identities at the card table, but the God of Wisdom has always been one of them. Now, you too have been invited to the table. But how long can you play this game?"

"You can manipulate Magic better! You view Magic as an instinct; you can release Magic without detailed construction!"

"You have gained the personal trait: Wonder Builder!"

"Wonders? You think Wonders are a waste of manpower and money? I say, they are necessary greatness!"

"All Wonder construction speed increased by 15%, negative effects brought about by Wonder construction will be significantly weakened, and your reputation will spread in some non-normal spaces."

"You have built a brand new Wonder! Your civilization progress has increased!"

"Your civilization Wonder progress has accumulated to 200%. After experiencing civilization creation, this trait will become a part of your civilization."

"Your civilization construction currently lacks: population, a cognitive turning point, a second city, or spreading regions."

"Please work hard!"

"... I'm back."

Time to eat.

Opening his eyes to look at the familiar ceiling, Li Ang sat up from the bed, preparing to soothe his physical body.

Fortunately, he had not starved to death. But unfortunately, he was about to starve to death.

It was unclear if it was because the powerful Magic ritual had completely altered his body, but in reality, Li Ang had not eaten or drunk for five consecutive days, and it had not caused much damage to his body.

At least after checking in the mirror, Li Ang found that he did not seem to have changed much. At most, his gaze truly seemed to carry an otherworldly spiral, and some pale blue Runes were beginning to spread across his chest and body, flickering gradually.

It was not a big deal; after all, being an otherworldly player, it was quite normal for things to happen.

However, after studying the manifestations of that so-called God of Wisdom and the buff given to him, Li Ang sat in front of the computer and began to use the players' data to search.

The God of Wisdom, or rather the so-called God of Wisdom in this world, was essentially an evil god who had been corrupted. Although he did indeed possess wisdom and would grant blessings, in reality, his essence was evil and hateful; that wisdom would ultimately only become twisted and ugly.

Simply put, the wisdom that ordinary people hope for is being smart, capable, and achieving extreme things.

But the wisdom granted by the God of Wisdom was quite unusual; he often became more gloomy, hesitant and overthinking things, always failing at critical moments. Although smart, whether in scientific research or doing things, it would lead to the worst results.

After checking online, Li Ang had a certain new understanding of the existence of the God of Wisdom.

In all cultures and civilizations, the appearance and incarnations displayed by the God of Wisdom were different, but there was no doubt that the act of treating it as a usable god would always invite disaster.

But Li Ang had never considered it that way. After all, he was a cheater. If a cheater couldn't beat the natives or scam things, wouldn't the cheat be in vain? However, Li Ang did keep in mind some of the Wonders and so-called holy sites left behind by the God of Wisdom.

"But why are the bases of these gods all in the Chaos Wasteland and the North? Why are these civilizations vague about both the North and the South, and rarely have records of exploration? Is it because at the poles, there are some secrets and Wonders that are the truth hidden by these things?"

Thinking of his Planet Wonder, the Testing Ground of the Ancient Ones, and recalling the records of anomalous phenomena in ancient ruins that players posted on the forum, Li Ang rubbed his chin, looking somewhat thoughtful.

But just at this moment, a vigorous knocking sound came from outside.

"Room 302! Li Ang! We detected that you woke up! Why didn't you register when you came back! You didn't participate in the registration at the school either; do you know you're an unregistered resident?" Li Ang walked over to open the door and immediately saw the aggressive middle-aged woman blocking the doorway.

This burly woman, who looked very imposing, was pointing at the form in her hand with a thick thumb and roaring very angrily: "Otherworldly player registration, it's already the fifth day, why didn't you go to register?!"

The hot-tempered, older staff member was looking at Li Ang with impatience, especially when she saw the markings on his body, her expression turned even uglier.

"At such a young age, you're already doing tattoo work inside? Do you know that doing things like tattoos is very dangerous in the other world? It's very likely you'll be caught by some evil god cultist and skinned alive. Wanting to be unconventional? Children shouldn't be overly ambitious; hurry up and register to be with the main force."

"Because my Landing Site is in Norsca. I didn't have time."

"... Ah."

The impatient woman looked at the calm Li Ang, and the expression on her face quickly became awkward and guilty.

That conflicted look made it seem as if she wished she could slap herself.

As a local administrative official, she knew about the particularities of some regions.

A hellhole like Norsca usually meant it was already time to prepare for personal compensation and comfort for the family.

Although players can resurrect in the other world after death, in Norsca, death itself is a very normal phenomenon. It's not strange to die a few times. It's even normal to die completely because of extreme pain, with the Soul shattering there.

You have to know, the Undying Nature of players mostly only applies to the physical body, but Norsca is close to the Chaos Wasteland; if you're unlucky, your Soul might just be finished.

And watching the administrative woman, who was so embarrassed she was digging at the floor with her toes and staying silent, Li Ang narrated even more calmly:

"The Rune on my body is the foundation proving I want to survive; otherwise, the Norsca Pirates would have killed me. These past few days, I only secretly found some time to come out to eat."

"Ah, this, is that so..."

"So can I go back now?"

Looking at the sweating woman, Li Ang tilted his head.

"I don't want to die in there yet. At least I still want to struggle in Norsca."

"... I, I'm sorry, little brother. How about this, I'll use my authority to register a special status for you here, so you'll have a certain quota every month that allows you to view those paid posts for free. You, you work hard to survive. I'm really sorry, it was my fault."

"Thank you, you've worked hard too."

"It's nothing, it's nothing..."

A step back and there's such a good thing?

Watching the woman leave while muttering and sighing, as if she felt she was very much to blame, Li Ang scratched his hair inexplicably, feeling as if he had gained a lot.

And not waiting more than a few minutes, notifications appeared on Li Ang's phone and the computer forum, allowing him to see the clues to some paid posts.

After he sat in front of the computer, eating a nutrition bar and opening the paid section, the first thing he saw was the pinned post in the paid area.

"On the possibility of players building cities! BY First Guild Leader, Grani of Altdorf"
