Chapter 119: Adventurer Bar
As Xia Duo took his first step out of the Mage Tower, a biting cold wind rushed toward his face, and a cold wave instantly enveloped his entire body. Xia Duo shivered unexpectedly and subconsciously tightened his clothes.
The others also hunched their heads at this moment, and Aideliqi even cursed, "This damn weather."
Although the winter snow had long since ceased, the temperature was much lower than it had been over half a month ago. Looking far into the distance from the foot of the Mage Tower, everything that met the eye was a sheet of snowy white.
On the roofs, on the open ground, there were traces of snow everywhere.
Fortunately, the condition of the streets was not bad, especially the stretch from the foot of the Mage Tower to the Central Plaza, which had long been cleared; there was not even a trace of water on the stone road.
After arriving at the Central Plaza, the situation was vastly different. Except for the Great Arcane Statue and the entrance to the Temple in the west, other places, including the entrance to the Town Hall, had residual snow.
Perhaps because of the temperature, the festive atmosphere in town was clearly lacking, and even the hawking of vendors on both sides of the road seemed listless.
It was only upon reaching the East District that it became slightly more lively. From time to time, one could encounter groups of two or three Adventurers carrying weapons. Perhaps because of the heavy snow, these people had nothing to do in town.
Aside from sleeping at home, they were likely out looking for fun.
The Adventure Bar was located on a commercial street in the East District running east-west, right next to the Adventurers Guild, and one street south of this street was the East Barracks.
Arriving here, Xia Duo remembered that he had passed by this place several times and had even deliberately observed it, but he had never gone inside.
The bar had no sign and looked somewhat hidden, but in reality, it was connected to the adjacent Adventurers Guild; one could enter from the main entrance or from the Adventurers Guild.
One could even enter from the back door.
"Xia Duo, are we really going in?"
Coming to a place like this for the first time, Dien felt some inexplicable nervousness, but seeing that the others were calm and composed, he secretly cursed himself for being a coward.
Xia Duo patted Dien on the shoulder and said with a smile, "Let's go in, I'm quite curious too!"
In fact, not just in this other world, even on Earth, Xia Duo had never been to a bar, but he had seen many bar scenes on the internet, so it was not entirely unfamiliar.
It was just that he didn't know what similarities or differences the bar here in this other world had compared to those on Earth.
Paying the money and entering the door—the process was similar to Earth's, though according to Aideliqi, they only charged an extra entrance fee when the bar had special performances; at other times, there was no entrance fee.
As soon as they stepped inside, a wave of noise rushed toward them, mixed with the smell of alcohol, perfume, body odor, and even the scent of blood, giving Xia Duo, a novice entering a bar for the first time, a very intense sensory stimulation.
But this stimulation could not be considered very positive, which made Xia Duo frown; this feeling was vastly different from the scenes he had seen through a computer screen.
However, since he had come and already paid, there was no need to just leave like this.
The interior of the bar was not large. At the very back was a small stage, the side door led to the bar counter, and other places were scattered with tables and chairs.
At this time, Xia Duo and his group had arrived early enough that there were still some empty seats near the bar counter. As soon as they sat down, a voluptuous woman with a full figure and revealing clothing came to the table and asked sweetly, "Handsome young men, what would you like to drink? 'Elf's Kiss' is on sale today!"
"No need, just bring us a bottle of 'Blue Dream'!" It was Aideliqi who spoke; according to him, he had been here before.
Even though Blue Dream cost 50 Gold Coins a bottle, when the woman heard that five people were only ordering one bottle of wine, her enthusiastic tone inevitably faltered. She immediately understood the purpose of these people—
Elf Hot Dance!
This woman responded to Aideliqi with a grin while praising the landlady's clever plan in her heart, and finally, she swayed her waist and "floated" away like the wind.
Ahem—
"Dien, Sami, they've walked far away!"
Aideliqi suddenly teased, which immediately made Dien and Sami blush, but the light inside the bar was not very bright, so the two were not teased further.
Soon, the wine they ordered arrived.
A blue wine bottle and five wooden wine glasses. This time, the person who delivered the wine did not even say a word; they put down the bottle and glasses and left.
Only then did Xia Duo understand why the waiter's attitude was not enthusiastic. One bottle of wine shared among five people didn't even fill half a glass. Although the large capacity of the wine glasses was a factor, the small amount of the wine itself was the main reason.
Xia Duo picked up the wine glass and looked at the blue liquid inside; it was about one large gulp. He sniffed it—it was the smell of fruit wine, but it also carried a very peculiar herbal aroma.
Xia Duo did not drink it and placed the glass back on the table.
By this time, Aideliqi was already telling interesting stories about the bar to Sami, Dewan, and Dien. Xia Duo listened for a bit; it was roughly something heard from some Adventurer.
After being retold, it wasn't even as exciting as what Xia Duo had heard at the Old Neil Inn! He stopped paying attention and instead kept an ear out for the conversations of the people around him.
About half of these people were Adventurers, a small half looked like soldiers—Xia Duo was very familiar with their equipment, as he had a set himself—and the remaining small half were likely wealthy people from the town.
But judging from the behavior of these "wealthy people," they were likely not very rich or noble, just having a little wealth; otherwise, there wouldn't be several people sharing one bottle of wine.
These people had a lewd sense of excitement on their faces, chatting unscrupulously about all sorts of dirty topics with those around them, and occasionally teasing the passing waitresses.
Those few soldiers were the most silent; they did nothing but drink, and there was hardly any communication between them.
The Adventurers were the ones Xia Duo focused on, but perhaps they really had little work lately; in most cases, they were complaining to their companions about having no work due to the heavy snow, and the work available in town paid too little.
Or they were talking about the upcoming "Elf Hot Dance." Some Adventurers were watching it for the first time, while others had seen it once before, but regarding the details, those who had seen it were mysterious in their speech and would not reveal a single thing.
Of course, they also mentioned other Adventurer teams, such as how such-and-such Adventurer team hunted a fox with pure white fur and made a fortune upon selling it; or how such-and-such Adventurer team took a job guarding a village and, besides the Gold Coin reward, could also snag a couple of women to warm their beds.
Their tone was full of envy.
Just as Xia Duo was listening intently, he heard Aideliqi suddenly shout, "Elf!"
The voice was sharp and high-pitched, immediately attracting the gaze of most people in the bar. Xia Duo rubbed his ears and looked in the direction of Aideliqi's gaze.
Right there at the side door next to the bar counter, presumably having entered from the Adventurers Guild side, two or three tall, beautiful women walked in.
