Chapter 120: Half-Elf
Before Xia Duo could observe carefully, enthusiastic shouts suddenly erupted in the bar; he noticed that the few soldiers who had been drinking quietly in the corner had already risen and come to the bar counter.
They stared fiercely at anyone attempting to get up and approach the beautiful Elves. In the town area, the soldiers' deterrent power was still quite sufficient, but while they could not get close, they could still shout loudly.
For a time, all sorts of obscure and explicit words were shouted out directly. The soldiers remained expressionless and indifferent to this, as long as no one approached.
For the first time, Xia Duo discovered that the originally crude vocabulary of the Netherese language actually had such rich connotations, far more explosive and stimulating than what he had heard at the Old Neil Inn; it was truly an eye-opener.
"Xia Duo! Look! It's Elves!" At this moment, Aideliqi was so excited that he didn't look like a Mage at all.
Dien and the other two were relatively calm, but their gazes also never left the bodies of those "Elves."
Xia Duo had already discovered that those so-called "Elves" were not true Elves; although they could be called beauties, they lacked a significant amount of the aura of true Elves.
He saw the seven "Elf" beauties walk over with light steps from the side door by the bar counter; with every step they took, the originally cool aura gradually became fiery.
Although this made them drift further and further away from being true Elves, for those seeking pleasure in the bar, it was even more attractive.
By the time they reached the small stage, their manners and movements had become exceptionally charming and alluring; even Xia Duo, this well-traveled veteran, couldn't help but feel a stir in his heart.
"They really are sirens!"
Xia Duo adjusted his sitting posture, preparing to enjoy their performance, when he heard a roar, "Don't push me! I have money!"
It turned out to be a burly man dressed as an Adventurer, who had been pushed by a waiter coming from the Adventurers Guild side until he reached the door. At this moment, the burly man's roar made the two waiters step aside.
They stared fixedly into the other's eyes, waiting for him to take out money, but the burly man felt around his body again and again, yet couldn't produce a few Gold Coins. He still wouldn't give up, however, and looked at the waiter pleadingly: "I've already paid the entrance fee, can you let me stay a while longer?"
"No!"
Just as they were speaking, another group of people walked in from outside, and the two waiters immediately split up, with one guiding them to order.
Thus, under the gaze of the crowd, this penniless burly man turned and left the bar. He cursed a few times in anger as he left, but in the noisy environment, it didn't cause the slightest ripple.
The small episode at the door quickly passed. At this time, people in the bar would call for waiters to order from time to time; basically, as long as one spent 10 Gold Coins per person on drinks, they could stay.
And for those who really couldn't afford it, or didn't want to pay, being able to watch the Elves for a few moments wasn't a loss.
Of course, besides that Adventurer burly man, only two other people chose to leave.
Few people left, and many came in; the empty space in the bar became less and less. Some people even just held a bottle of wine and found a random corner to stand in, waiting for the performance to begin.
Finally, the sounds in the bar grew quieter and quieter, until eventually, one could even hear heavy breathing and the sound of people swallowing saliva.
"Yi—ya—"
It was unknown which "Elf" beauty suddenly made the sound, and immediately after, the seven "Elves" began their performance.
The seven of them had different movements, yet they were able to express the same style overall. Their movements were bold and charming, their gazes soul-stirring, and under the cover of thin gauze, they made people particularly fired up.
Sensing the changes within himself, Xia Duo immediately became alert and instantly entered a state of Spellcasting. He didn't know since when, but the bar had already been permeated with a pinkish spiritual light.
Its source was precisely those seven "Elves" who were dancing with abandon.
Xia Duo scanned the surroundings unobtrusively; most people were obsessively enjoying the dance, while a few were still able to whisper to the people beside them.
And besides the five of them, Xia Duo also noticed that there were other Mage Apprentices present, who seemed to have come for the reputation as well.
This made Xia Duo relax slightly; being able to open next to the Adventurers Guild, attract Mage Apprentices, and having held such activities in previous years, it was likely not some evil Spell.
But having had the experience of Mage Aiboke guiding emotions once, the power that made dozens or hundreds of Apprentices fanatical was still fresh in his memory, to the point that he was now exceptionally sensitive to these things.
For a moment, the emotion of enjoying the dance dissipated by more than half.
However, this also allowed Xia Duo to carefully observe those "Elf" women. Upon closer inspection, besides the difference in aura, their body frames were also slightly larger than those of true Elves.
Looking at their faces again, after casting aside the influence of the Emotion Magic, Xia Duo could clearly perceive their difference from Elves; their features were slightly more rugged than those of Elves.
Of course, they were still extremely exquisite among humans.
And their long ears were actually real, not fake ones glued on. Xia Duo could even see the alluring posture of their ears trembling when they performed certain shy movements.
Xia Duo immediately thought of Half-Elves, this hybrid species that possessed both human and Elf characteristics. It was just that in all his time in the Savile Territory, he had never heard of the Half-Elf race.
He didn't know if they truly didn't exist, or if someone was deliberately concealing them, but regarding the seven dancers he saw today, Xia Duo felt they were very likely Half-Elves.
Otherwise, there was no reason for true Elves to come to a small-town inn to perform, and to perform hot dances at that.
This was just like in ancient times on Earth, if the citizens of the Celestial Empire went to the savage lands to beg every year; it was simply too impractical.
……
The dance soon drew to a close, and the pink spiritual light in the bar also reached its peak.
At this time, the waiters in the bar suddenly appeared to show their presence. They were paired up, one man and one woman, with the woman carrying a wooden tray on which were placed several fresh flowers, which seemed to have been created by Magic.
Among them were large ones and small ones, some in full bloom, some looking like flower buds, and some half-opened.
"Would you handsome young men like to go and give flowers to the beautiful Elves?" a waitress asked softly beside Xia Duo's table.
Xia Duo smiled knowingly; so there were such tricks in this other world too. He himself could calmly refuse, but the others didn't have such willpower, or rather, thick skin.
Added to the fact that they had already been bewitched by those Elves earlier, Aideliqi, who had the wealthiest family background, immediately grabbed two blooming flowers from the tray.
"Guest, these two are 200 Gold Coins!"
"No problem!"
Aideliqi paid immediately, and Sami and Dewan followed suit, also grabbing two flowers from the tray, though they still had basic reason left and knew to act according to their means.
They only took two half-opened flowers.
"Two guests, that's 100 Gold Coins in total!"
After saying this, she turned the tray toward Dien and Xia Duo. Dien subconsciously wanted to pay; he happened to have the 200 Gold Coins for copying books that Xia Duo had prepaid him! However, Xia Duo stopped him and said to the waitress, "We have no money!"
The waitress wasn't annoyed; instead, she was all smiles. Having 300 Gold Coins from this table was already quite good. She signaled the waiter to stay and collect the money, then walked toward the next table.
