Chapter 1921: Perfect Wisdom
If Xia Duo had been sixty or seventy percent convinced before that Mage Shenuode'er had been to the Eastern World, then after seeing these four Eastern treasures, he was now eighty or ninety percent convinced.
Although he had never heard of these four Eastern treasures in his Main Plane, there was no doubt that for an Elf to imagine and forge the Three Lights Divine Water or the Wisdom Lamp out of thin air would be no less difficult than discovering the Eastern World itself.
As for the possibility that these treasures were brought by Easterners who occasionally traveled here, that was not impossible, and in fact quite likely, but within this hall of Eastern collections, there were other complete, systematic sets of Eastern items.
That would not be such a coincidence.
Therefore, Xia Duo could basically determine that in past history, at least one Elf Mage had returned from the Eastern World; this Elf could be Shenuode'er or another Elf.
Even if these treasures were later imitations made by Wuweilun, what essential difference would that make to Xia Duo?
What he sought was not necessarily a treasure one hundred percent from the mysterious Eastern World; as long as it carried Eastern characteristics and information that allowed him to conduct research, or even just to collect, that would suffice.
Thinking of this, Xia Duo could not help but feel conflicted, "Crown King, can we negotiate further regarding these four treasures? I am willing to exchange more Betis Secret Scrolls."
"I am very sorry, Mage Laier, two is already the limit we can decide upon. If you want more, I can submit this matter to all the Elders for discussion, but then I fear even two would be difficult."
Yintewa was speaking the truth; the Elders might not care about the specific uses of these four Eastern treasures, but their very existence was significant.
If it were a complete set of Betis Secret Scrolls, he would not even need a resolution from the Elders to make a decision, but clearly, Yintewa did not believe the other party possessed the full set of Betis Secret Scrolls.
"If Mage Laier is truly interested in Eastern artifacts, you might as well pick a few more from the other collections; those I can still decide upon."
"Very well, I hope this does not cause the Crown King any trouble."
The problem returned to Xia Duo; he looked at the four Eastern treasures and liked them more the longer he looked. He wanted every single one, but in the current situation, even if he tried to seize them by force, he might not succeed, and for this, he could only sigh in helplessness.
But fortunately, this was in a Projection Plane; once he returned to the Main Plane and searched carefully, perhaps he could find the treasures of Wuweilun buried in the passage of time!
Additionally, there were other Projection Planes; as long as he could enter the time Node where Wuweilun existed, perhaps he could trade for the treasures directly from Mage Shenuode'er.
And because of the different possibilities in the Projection Planes, the treasures Mage Shenuode'er brought back from the Eastern World might not necessarily be the ones Xia Duo was seeing now.
If he could "grind" these Projection Planes repeatedly like a dungeon, perhaps he could collect a complete Eastern imperial treasury, as well as a large number of Eastern artifacts and books.
Thinking of this, Xia Duo suddenly realized that if the Eastern World had so many intersections with the Main Plane, then its distance from the Main Plane should be closer than he had imagined!
Perhaps it was only due to some special circumstances that the Eastern World remained relatively hidden; for example, the legendary "Nine Provinces Jieti." Xia Duo's hometown did not have such a thing, but in this surreal magic world, that might not be the case.
Perhaps this also explained why many Elf explorers in the past had gone and never returned; the Eastern World was too closed off, not even allowing outsiders to leave.
But if so, did Mage Shenuode'er become the most special one of all?
However, these were all just Xia Duo's guesses for now; the truth would require further exploration, but regardless, discovering the Eastern World was more beneficial than harmful to Xia Duo.
"Crown King, I have decided; I will trade for that Bright Treasure Mirror and that Wisdom Lamp."
The Banner of Abundance and the Evil-Breaking Divine Sword were somewhat of a chicken rib to Xia Duo. The former's greatest use might be cultivating high-yield crops, but since Mages could build an Arcane Garden, high yield was not that important.
Crop research could also be conducted in the Arcane Garden, and even without an Arcane Garden, agricultural science could still be developed.
As for the Evil-Breaking Divine Sword, it might be an extremely powerful Magic Artifact, or even a hidden Artifact, but its limitations were too great; perhaps it could be resold to the Kingdom of Radiance for use in the war against demons.
But that would lose the very meaning of trading for such an Eastern treasure itself.
As for the Bright Treasure Mirror being able to transform the Three Lights Divine Water, Xia Duo always harbored a glimmer of hope that the Elves were ignorant and had failed to understand the true function of this treasure, coupled with the slight connection it had to the myths of his hometown.
If he could only trade for one, he would definitely choose that treasure mirror.
Now that he could trade for two, he had the Wisdom Lamp as a bonus. Listening to Crown King Yintewa's introduction, Xia Duo felt this thing seemed related to the "Heart Lamp" of Buddhism in his hometown.
From the perspective of the known and unknown, Xia Duo did not find the existence of the Banner of Abundance and the Evil-Breaking Divine Sword too bizarre, but the Bright Treasure Mirror and the Wisdom Lamp were difficult to explain with his current knowledge system.
Take the Sun God Water enhancing physique, the Moon God Water restoring Youth Amulet, and the Star God Water extending longevity; at least with his current abilities, he could not achieve these effects merely by transforming celestial light.
And that Wisdom Lamp was even more outrageous; Crown King Yintewa said it could use distracting thoughts as fuel to ignite the light of wisdom and increase the user's Wisdom.
But in Xia Duo's view, distracting thoughts were not meaningless; they contained many memories and even thought patterns of the self, or rather, distracting thoughts were a part of consciousness itself.
Distracting thoughts should be gathered and governed, not burned and cleared away.
Xia Duo highly suspected that if a normal person used that Wisdom Lamp too many times, they might eventually become an individual possessing only pure rationality.
Perhaps this was what Buddhism called the "Great Freedom Realm of Perfect Wisdom."
Perhaps this was also the fundamental reason why Shenuode'er, as a Mage, ultimately gave up this Wisdom Lamp.
If the price of increasing Wisdom was the dissipation of the self, then this Wisdom was not worth having!
But setting aside the potential drawbacks of this Wisdom Lamp, it was in itself a research achievement of Easterners in the fields of the mind and intellect, and one could use it to catch a glimpse of the path of Cultivation in the Eastern World.
Although the magic of the Main Plane looked a lot like immortal cultivation, it was actually more like science; so-called individual power was not essentially using one's own power.
Even an Arcanist who seemed to possess a source of energy could actually be seen as an ordinary person using an external spellcasting module.
As for longevity and the like, it looked like it was achieved through spells, but it could actually be seen as using certain genetic repair technologies.
In the magic world, there was no essential difference between a Spellcaster and an ordinary person; everything a Spellcaster could achieve, an ordinary person could potentially achieve as well.
Compared to magic, bloodlines were perhaps more like immortal cultivation, as both fundamentally changed the individual organism.
If immortal cultivation existed in the Eastern World, then Xia Duo would find that world no matter what and try to experience it, even though he was more inclined toward science (magic) in his heart.
But as a Chinese person who had been nurtured by various myths and legends, how could he resist immortal cultivation!
He only hoped that the immortal cultivation of the Eastern World would not involve anything too mysterious and obscure; it would be best if it allowed him to cultivate scientifically, otherwise, he would have to give it up with a heavy heart.
The saying "those with different Daos cannot make plans together" was likely just that.
