Chapter 1922: Fortress Location
With the items for trade determined, the subsequent transaction proceeded as a matter of course.
Xia Duo first exchanged five Golden Pages for the Bright Treasure Mirror; the moment the mirror was in his hands, he felt a sense of relief, suggesting that this mirror possessed more functions than just converting Three Lights Divine Water.
Given that Crown King Yintewa had not provided much of an introduction, Xia Duo prepared to manifest it back to the Main Plane to explore it slowly, but from this brief contact alone, he had already roughly judged that its effects should be related to protective capabilities.
Additionally, holding the mirror allowed one to vaguely sense the current time, similar to a clock without specific numerical values; Xia Duo guessed it might be related to the three lights of the sun, moon, and stars.
Setting aside its various functions, this palm-sized Copper mirror also held considerable artistic value in Xia Duo's eyes.
The mirror surface was smooth, the edges were engraved with Cloud Patterns, the back featured even more intricate patterns depicting the sun, moon, stars, and celestial bodies, and the mirror knob was a miniature mountain peak rich in detail.
Based solely on this mirror-making style, which was vastly different from that of the various nations on the Main Plane, it was worth Xia Duo's collection.
……
Next, he exchanged another five Golden Pages for the Wisdom Lamp; the lamp had a rather archaic design, though to put it plainly, it did not look all that exquisite!
Its upper end was a half-opened lotus flower, where the delicate stamens could be vaguely seen inside, while the middle was the lotus stem, slightly curved as if naturally grown.
The lamp base at the very bottom was a section of lotus root, with the flower stem connected to one end of the root; if not for the lotus flower above emitting light, at first glance, one would think it was just a piece of lotus root freshly pulled from the water!
However, this object involved the Domain of the mind, and Xia Duo did not intend to use it himself, at least not until he had fully analyzed its structure and Principles.
Of course, the same went for the Three Lights Divine Water converted by the Bright Treasure Mirror; after all, since he did not know the ins and outs of the item, he had to remain cautious.
……
With the two Eastern treasures traded, both Xia Duo and Crown King Yintewa were very satisfied with the result, though Xia Duo did not trade for many of the remaining Eastern artifacts afterward.
The treasures only cost five Golden Pages each, but these other artifacts also required two, and by comparison, Xia Duo felt it was not quite worth it.
In the end, he reluctantly exchanged for a scepter suspected to be a ritual implement, a set of gold vessels resembling the wine vessels of his homeland, and all the copies of Eastern books.
For this, he paid a full set of Nether Scrolls (ten sheets), equivalent to the price of those two treasures.
Returning to the Clear Sky Hall, the several Elder Sages who had accompanied him to the Treasure Hall had already left, and it was unclear if they had been drawn away by the Betis Secret Scroll, leaving only Crown King Yintewa to negotiate with Xia Duo.
"Mage Laier, the trade for the Eastern artifacts is complete; can we move on to the main topic now?"
"Of course, but I still have some Betis Secret Scrolls here with nowhere to place them; I wonder if the Crown King has any advice for me?"
"There are still Betis Secret Scrolls?"
Yintewa's eyes lit up instantly; previously, seeing Mage Laier hesitating and picking and choosing in the Treasure Hall, eventually bringing out twenty Golden Pages for the trade, he had assumed that was all the secret scrolls the other party possessed!
He had not expected that after the several Elders left, he would actually receive a surprise.
"Mage Laier, speak quickly, what else have you taken a fancy to in Wuweilun?"
"I hope to obtain some tea seeds brought back from the East by the Mage Saint Nuode; additionally, I want the Spells, formulas, and seeds related to the Inheritance Ritual."
"No problem; originally these should be strategic materials for Wuweilun, but the Betis Secret Scrolls are even more precious, plus I believe that you, Mage Laier, will certainly not become an enemy of Wuweilun."
Yintewa considered it for a moment and agreed, proposing: "I will trade these with you in a private capacity, and it will not be made public, to avoid attracting opposition from the Elder Sages."
"Thank you for your generosity, Crown King."
After some negotiation, Xia Duo finally exchanged a complete set of Nether Scrolls with Crown King Yintewa for the items he wanted.
As for the Dragon Madness Secret Scroll trade, which had been interrupted by various things, it also proceeded very smoothly, though the Wuweilun side did not agree to trade the originals, but allowed for on-site reading and copying of duplicates.
The Wuweilun side displayed a total of twelve originals, fewer than what Xia Duo possessed, but they displayed over forty items that were not originals, which was something Xia Duo could not compare to.
In the end, Xia Duo threw in the remaining scattered Nether Scrolls and obtained all the Dragon Madness Secret Scrolls displayed by the other side, totaling fifty-five copies.
Counting the (4+14+14+4=) 36 copies Xia Duo possessed before coming to Wuweilun, he now owned a total of 91 Dragon Madness Secret Scrolls.
If the Dragon Madness Secret Scrolls were like the Nether Scrolls, where a set consisted of fifty, he would almost have collected two full sets by now.
But unfortunately, the amount of information contained in a single Dragon Madness Secret Scroll was far less than that of a Nether Scroll, so the total number seemed higher; at least Xia Duo could not yet see the full picture of the Dragon Madness Mythallar through the 91 scrolls he had collected so far.
However, there was one point worth highlighting.
Previously, Xia Duo had obtained four secret scrolls in the Akaola Kingdom on the Main Plane, one of which mentioned a special Ancient Fortress.
One could link and use the Dragon Madness Mythallar from anywhere, but if one wanted to modify or maintain the Mythallar, it could only be done within that special fortress.
Before coming to Wuweilun, none of the 36 scrolls Xia Duo had collected mentioned the location of that special fortress.
But the fifty-five copies traded this time in Wuweilun did mention the location of that fortress, though it was a pity that the time the fortress was built was too far in the past, at least tens of thousands of years ago.
Over such a long time, both the geographical environment and the naming relationships had undergone too many changes; one could not accurately pinpoint the location of the fortress based solely on the names and positions mentioned in the secret scrolls.
Thinking of the background when the Dragon Madness Mythallar was established, as the only Control Center for the most critical weapon in the anti-dragon cause, it must have been built in an incredibly secret place, and all kinds of protective work had been done, including but not limited to preventing Scrying, divination, and even contact.
But since it had not been discovered for so many years, perhaps there were still Elf volunteers in that fortress who had been on duty there since ancient times!
For now, the only plan Xia Duo could think of was to travel to more ancient eras through the Projection Plane; perhaps he could decipher the ancient geographical information shown in the secret scrolls.
Or perhaps he could search for the evolution of ancient geographical concepts in Elf classics, similar to literary archaeology on Earth.
Of course, the efficiency of these two methods was not very high; the former had a purely low probability, while the latter required a massive investment of time and energy.
Xia Duo was more inclined to continue collecting Dragon Madness Secret Scrolls; perhaps there would be methods far superior to contacting or locating that special fortress within them!
This was not impossible; the creators of the secret scrolls should have considered the possibility of future generations losing contact with the fortress, so leaving an extra contact method would be even more of an Insurance.
After all, even the various details of the Mythallar had been explained, so they wouldn't have skimped on this point.
