Chapter 232: Mythallar
Xia Duo did not have much of a gambling streak, but he did not lack the courage to stake everything on a single throw; since he had made up his mind, he would no longer hesitate.
Gripping his sword and shield, Xia Duo took a step forward, crossing the boundary line between life and decay.
"Nothing happened?"
But the active Magic Net environment in the surroundings, the scent of decaying vitality unique to the forest, the sound of the wind, and even the faint, indistinct roars of beasts, all were telling Xia Duo—
He was out!
Turning back to look behind him, there were no longer the decaying tree remains, but a living, vibrant forest!
"I really made it out!" Xia Duo felt a surge of joy and immediately checked the Magic Scrolls.
The light was a bit dim, but they still existed firmly, tangling and echoing with the fresh Magic Net around them. Xia Duo secretly thought himself lucky, but these scrolls had to be disposed of as soon as possible!
Looking at the surrounding environment, he was indeed in the Green Pearl Forest, but he did not know exactly where; looking at a map at this time was useless.
There was no automatic Positioning or navigation function; it was just an ordinary map.
While searching for landmarks, Xia Duo reflected on this accident. Being drawn into the Elf Ruins could be called an accident, but it could also be said that he had brought it upon himself.
No one expected there to be a suspected Elf Ruins in the Green Pearl Forest, but the conceptual existences of "Flow" and "Moist" that had already been discovered did not make him sufficiently vigilant.
However, the magic world might be full of traps everywhere, and sometimes risks that one was bound to encounter could not be avoided; ultimately, it was a matter of strength.
……
"Found it!"
Not long after, Xia Duo found a familiar sword mark nearby; it was the mark he had left behind while searching for Lao Neil's treasure "grid by grid."
"If that's the case, then that ruin should be right around here."
Thinking about how it felt like teleportation when entering, but just walking out simply when leaving, and being able to see the outside from within, Xia Duo could not figure out where the ruin was hidden for a moment.
But what was certain was that the ruin had a very close connection to this area.
Additionally, judging from the fact that Lao Neil could leave behind a map, he had very likely entered the ruin, and the Elf Mage appearing in the Green Pearl Forest also made Xia Duo's imagination run wild.
What was inside the ruin was temporarily unknown, but just based on this magical way of entering and exiting, even if Xia Duo thought about it with his knees, he knew it was not simple.
For a moment, he regretted choosing this place as his Territory; it was practically sitting on a pile of volcanoes.
The ruin itself was nothing much; seeing that no accidents had occurred inside for so many years, but external factors could not be ignored.
Whether it was the Elf Mage or the Savile Territory, neither were easy to deal with; once this ruin was exposed, heaven knows what it would attract.
By then, whether the title of "Pioneer" could still protect him would be hard to say.
In the development process of Netheril, many Elf Ruins had been discovered, and they had even destroyed complete Elf forces, but the ruin here in the Green Pearl Forest was still somewhat different.
"Mythallar!"
The magical way of entering and exiting, the Magic Net environment inside being completely different from the outside—how could Xia Duo not associate it with the 【Elven Mythallar】!
This was a very sophisticated Spellcasting technique that could permanently alter the Magic Net; legend had it that the destruction of the Dragon Era was related to the 【Mythallar】.
The Tower of Time Library only had a few words about the Mythallar, and every one of them appeared in Mage biographies; it seemed that was Knowledge only high-end Mages could come into contact with.
And Xia Duo, who came from Earth and had some understanding of the history of Faerûn, knew even more that several Crown Wars had caused the Elf magic heritage to have a generational gap, and much Knowledge had been lost; perhaps the Mythallar was among them.
Then the Green Pearl Forest might really be a powder keg!
At the thought of Elves and Arcanists all swarming into the Green Pearl Forest, crazily excavating the ruins and studying the Mythallar, Xia Duo could not help but shiver.
"This matter cannot be borne by myself, and I cannot afford to bear it!"
On the surface, besides being the Pioneer Lord of Daxia Territory, Xia Duo was also a member of the Tower of Time; how could he not share such a good thing as discovering an Elf Ruins with them!
But it was not possible yet; he had to loot it himself first, and besides, he was also afraid of being silenced.
Suddenly, Xia Duo felt like he was playing with fire while walking on a tightrope; one careless move and he would either set himself on fire or fall into a deep abyss.
But the ruin was within his Territory, and it would explode sooner or later; he could only try his best to maintain this delicate trick, try not to let the fire burn himself, and still walk to the other side of the deep abyss.
Thinking of the pressure to come, Xia Duo had no heart to explore any ruins. Returning to the camp, he immediately called for the new Captain of the 2nd team, Qiaoqi:
"Once the bushes to the east are cleared, do not go further east; go south."
This was different from the original plan; although Qiaoqi was a bit confused, he did not need to question what the Lord said, he only needed to obey.
"Yes, my Lord!"
"Go out."
"Yes!"
Waving Qiaoqi away, only Xia Duo was left in the small tent; he was silent, thinking, as changing the original plan was truly a last resort.
The treasure location, or rather the Mythallar location, was only a little over a mile from the landing point's Temporary Camp; he was worried that cutting down a tree there would expose the ruin, and that would be troublesome.
Now changing direction to the south and developing along the river could be considered a contingency plan; relying on water also happened to utilize Xia Duo's Bloodline Ability, it was just that the long, strip-shaped Territory might look a bit strange.
Compared to potentially touching the Mythallar by going east, this result was still acceptable to Xia Duo.
Furthermore, Wolf Fort was not straight to the south either; it was slightly to the west near the landing point, so calculating it this way, it might not necessarily result in a long, strip-shaped Territory.
It was just that the Mythallar was within the Territory designated for him by Wier Lingzhu, and the Three-Year Agreement might not be completed.
Sighing in his heart, Xia Duo did not suspect that Wier Lingzhu knew about the ruin beforehand; after all, he had chosen this place himself, so he could only say that the map left by Lao Neil had pitted him!
But even without that map, because of his Bloodline Ability, Xia Duo would have chosen a Territory by the water; the location here was already in his considerations.
Looking at it this way, he really was at odds with this ruin.
……
In the following days, Xia Duo entered and exited the ruin many times, but he was not in a hurry to look for treasure; instead, he was testing the range of the ruin.
After many tests, he discovered that the trajectory of walking out from the inner edge of the ruin and corresponding to the Green Pearl Forest was roughly a circle with a diameter of several hundred meters.
The "grids" that previously had restorative effects were all within this circular area, and every "grid" had at least one tree.
Of course, Xia Duo now knew that these should be the key Nodes of the Mythallar.
He did not destroy those key trees again; every time he entered the ruin, he entered from the tree he had cut down, and besides this place, there should be other places to enter.
But that would require searching this circular area with a diameter of several hundred meters, which Xia Duo had not searched yet; after all, this was not the point, and knowing it would not help.
He was mainly trying to determine the scope of the ruins, and he had been busy with this for the past few days.
And after determining the scope of the ruins corresponding to the Green Pearl Forest, the real highlight would begin; Xia Duo was very much looking forward to what kind of treasures were hidden within those ruins!
