Chapter 898: Leading the Troops to War

~6 min read 1,127 words

A few days later, the scouts sent by Qin Peng brought back news.

Ye Liuyun and Qin Peng together finally selected three Demon Cultivator Sects.

Two of those Demon Cultivator Sects each have a Secret Realm for training disciples. The other Sect contains a Crystal Stone Vein.

"Lord, the soldiers' training and integration aren't finished yet. Launching the campaign now could cause greater losses!" Qin Peng suggested to Ye Liuyun.

"In the next few days, send people to focus on probing the strength of those three Sects, and meanwhile intensify troop training. The rest can be honed on the battlefield."

When the time comes, just ensure the elite soldiers aren't severely wounded. As for the regular troops, letting them undergo a baptism of blood isn't a bad thing!

"Very well!" Qin Peng, not one to be indecisive, immediately agreed and went back to prepare.

In no time, the whole Yonglie Island was training soldiers, ferocious beasts, and warships day and night, in a full‑scale war‑ready state.

Ye Liuyun was also busy forging pills for the troops and arranging supplies.

Half a month later, a fleet of warships set out from Yonglie Island, heading for Moyu.

"The troops have been dispatched?" King Liang was somewhat shocked upon receiving the news.

He hadn't expected Ye Liuyun to act so quickly!

He was a bit worried that Ye Liuyun might be too impatient and overly competitive.

So he assigned people to follow Ye Liuyun's contingent, reporting the situation constantly, and if needed, he could provide support.

When Ye Liuyun's fleet reached the first target, that Demon Cultivator Sect had made no defenses at all.

Ye Liuyun did not take part in combat command, handing full authority to Qin Peng.

He also wanted to use the chance to observe Qin Peng's command ability.

Qin Peng did not disappoint; his battle command left Ye Liuyun unable to find any flaw. He not only trained the elite force of over three hundred men, but also minimized the entire army's losses.

The Sect's Secret Realm was also seized by Qin Peng. None of the Demon Cultivator members escaped; they were all captured, and the wealth fell into their pockets.

"Well done!" Ye Liuyun could not stop praising Qin Peng's command ability.

Next, the second Demon Cultivator Sect, though met with fierce resistance and suffered slightly higher losses, still achieved total victory under Qin Peng's command.

When they reached the third Sect, the news finally spread. That Sect had already prepared its defenses!

"Lord, the enemy has activated a protective sect formation; a forced assault would likely consume far more resources," Qin Peng reported to Ye Liuyun.

He was mainly concerned that bombarding the formation with warships would consume a large amount of Spirit Stones.

Ye Liuyun smiled and asked, "What resources does this Demon Cultivator Sect contain?"

"A Spiritual Stone Vein!" Qin Peng replied naturally.

He immediately responded, "Ha ha, I'm going to arrange the operation!"

Since this Sect has a Spiritual Stone Vein, no matter the consumption, as long as they capture it they will profit.

Thus, after several rounds of Spirit Stone expenditure, the formation was blasted open by warships, and Ye Liuyun's army achieved another total victory.

The entire vein was let to Qin Peng to excavate for military use.

Each time the battlefield was cleared, Ye Liuyun first let Magic Vines absorb and enlarge, then ordered soldiers to collect the remaining Storage Rings and other valuables.

After completing the combat objectives of the three Sects, Ye Liuyun did not linger and immediately led the army back to Yonglie Island to recuperate.

On the way, Ye Liuyun began assigning missions to Qin Peng, sending scouts to investigate larger Demon Cultivator Sects! When he returns next, they can launch another attack.

This time they attacked only a few slightly smaller Sects.

His next target is a larger Sect.

"Yes!" Qin Peng excitedly took the command and dispatched people.

Leaders of the army can only demonstrate their worth through war, so most are warmongers. Qin Peng is no exception.

After returning to Yonglie Island, Qin Peng began busy training troops and replenishing manpower.

In this campaign, over fifteen hundred regular soldiers fell. For a force of five thousand, the loss was considerable.

However, the few hundred elite soldiers received thorough training. The remaining troops, after the battlefield's baptism, became even more hardened.

The two seized Secret Realms were both left by Ye Liuyun for Qin Peng to assign soldiers for training.

Then he forged a large batch of pills for the army before leaving Yonglie Island and returning to Qian Long Academy.

Before departing, he handed over the several hundred High‑grade pills he had exchanged for points to Qin Peng.

"Use these pills to cultivate elite soldiers, and don't waste them!" Ye Liuyun instructed Qin Peng solemnly.

Qin Peng clutched the pills, his hands trembling with excitement.

He then earnestly promised, "Lord, rest assured, I will forge an elite troop!"

"Make it the strongest within Daxia Chao!" Ye Liuyun encouraged him, "If you need any resources, just tell me!"

"Yes!" Qin Peng solemnly pledged.

After Ye Liuyun left, he first rode a Dragon Eagle to near the academy, then switched to a warship for the return.

Back, his first task was to exchange the remaining five hundred points entirely for pills, half of which were Return‑Origin Pills. The other half were various pills for advancing realms and healing injuries.

After returning to his quarters, he saw no one familiar except Ling Shuang and Yuan Datou.

"Where have everyone gone?" Ye Liuyun asked Ling Shuang and Yuan Datou.

"They've all gone out on missions! The academy mandates that Outer Courtyard disciples complete a mission each month. Since you completed an A‑grade mission last time, you can skip missions for a year," Ling Shuang explained.

"Then why aren't you going?" Ye Liuyun asked.

Yuan Datou replied, "They have to do D‑grade missions; I find it uninteresting!"

"I haven't decided which level of mission to take, and no one will accompany me!" Ling Shuang said, looking at Ye Liuyun with anticipation.

"Do you have any missions you think are worthwhile?" Ye Liuyun asked, and if there were suitable missions, he wouldn't mind joining them.

Ling Shuang was pleased and eagerly began discussing with Ye Liuyun.

One of the missions involved exploring a Secret Realm and was a C‑grade task, which suited Ling Shuang well.

"Then let's go see which Secret Realm it is," Ye Liuyun asked Yuan Datou.

At least inside the Secret Realm there could still be some resources. As for the missions Ling Shuang mentioned, Ye Liuyun felt they were too easy.

Yuan Datou also nodded in satisfaction. Only this kind of unknown danger could arouse his interest.

"Good!" Ling Shuang also agreed immediately.
