Chapter 284: Tomb Robbing
"We have quite a few members, I can introduce some to you. Over two hundred years ago, the most well-known was the Imperial Speaker Roselle."
"And also..." Herwin Rambis mentioned a few more names, causing the gloom in Trissy's eyes to weaken, until she finally nodded gently.
"Thank you very much for your invitation." Trissy nodded gently in gratitude.
"Very good. This is proof of membership. When the badge flashes, you can follow the connection to enter the Collective Subconscious Sea."
Herwin Rambis smiled, took a badge from his pocket, and left it on the table.
The Collective Subconscious Sea has become the Phantom Realm, but the world of the mind is infinitely vast, and that Collective Subconscious Sea that exists in people's perception still remains.
"I welcome you on behalf of the organization," Herwin Rambis said softly.
Then this old gentleman took his leave directly, unwilling to stay here any longer.
"Twilight Hermit Order?" Trissy picked up the badge with her hand wearing the Sapphire Ring, and the information within the badge was simultaneously received by Trissy.
"I can go and take a look." Trissy made her decision; such a terrifying organization could help her in many ways.
And now that she was wanted by both the Church and evil sects, there were almost no people or organizations that could help her, or dared to help her.
Klein had been excessively well-behaved recently, not encountering any Beyonders from the Blood Sect or the Witch Sect, and it was also hard to see those from other evil sects.
For the past period of time, Klein had been looking for various opportunities to act as a "Magician," which had been quite effective; he had already finished digestion.
But this state could not continue for long, because of the news Maric brought back.
"In a gathering I attended, someone discovered an ancient noble's tomb, and there were traces of Skin Shadow activity inside."
Klein's eyes lit up. He had finished digestion and had been searching for the potion ingredients for "Faceless."
"But those who explored it all died." Maric looked at Klein expressionlessly. Even though he and Miss Sharon had obtained the Dream Badge, they still maintained the philosophy of Temperance, constantly acting to temper their own desires.
"It is very dangerous. Based on my judgment, if there are no high-sequence Beyonders or corresponding Sealed Artifacts, it is best not to go deep into the tomb."
"Ah? Like that?" Klein frowned in thought, then asked, "Which ancient noble's tomb is it?"
"His surname is: Amon."
Klein's heart skipped a beat. He knew this surname. "Is it that Amon Family from the Fourth Epoch Trensost Empire?"
"Yes." Maric nodded.
"The Amon Family seems to have declined; there haven't been any records of this family in the Fifth Epoch." Klein recalled the relevant knowledge.
"We can't handle it." Leonard shook his head slightly. Even the tomb of a fallen noble was not something they could "exploit."
"Old man, have you heard of the Amon Family?" Leonard walked toward the washroom and asked the old gentleman.
"Absolutely do not..." Pallez Zoroast almost jumped out to give Leonard a punch.
Let Him explore Amon's tomb? How is this any different from suicide?!
"... Should we tell Bishop Chumen? Persuade him to go?" Klein's voice just happened to drift over.
Pallez Zoroast's voice stalled, and for a moment, various thoughts churned.
"Absolutely do not go?" Leonard's expression was grave.
"Absolutely do not... give up. You can persuade your Bishop Chumen to let him take you there."
Pallez Zoroast made an extremely stiff pivot, his tone becoming cheerful, happy to see it happen, "The things hidden there are absolutely worth it!"
"Oh!" Leonard always felt something was wrong, but his brain wasn't working well enough, so he stopped thinking about it.
He came out of the washroom and agreed with Klein's idea, "I also think we should report this to Bishop Chumen. He can lead us there, or he can pass the word to the Church."
And so the matter was decided. Miss Sharon and Maric stayed behind to look after the detective agency, while Klein and Leonard arrived once again at Chumen's manor on the outskirts of Backlund.
"What? You want to rob the Amon Family's tomb?" Chumen was stunned.
Klein, are you finally going to go and deliver yourself to death?
How is this any different from stuffing Sefirah Castle into Amon's pocket? This gift-giving is too blunt.
"Cough, cough, it's not tomb robbing, it's archaeology." Klein remembered his identity as a university graduate with a degree in history.
"Hah!" Chumen crossed his arms and looked at Klein and Leonard, lingering on Leonard for a brief moment.
Given Klein's personality, after knowing about the Amon tomb, he would definitely not go down there himself; he would likely just take the route of reporting it.
It was just that Chumen hadn't expected him to report it to him.
Pallez Zoroast was likely happy to see it happen and had facilitated this.
"But robbing his own student's tomb? What kind of operation is this..." Chumen even felt a sense of absurdity.
Then he agreed.
Since that tomb had already been exposed and was going to be robbed by the Aurora Order or the Church, it was better to rob it himself.
"Fine, prepare yourselves, we leave immediately!" After Chumen made his decision, he developed a strong interest and prepared to go to the scene in person to dig up his student's tomb.
Amon often pulled some tricky moves to test him, so he also wanted to mess with Amon's state of mind.
"Where is the location?" Chumen flicked his sleeves, stood up, and walked outside the manor.
"On the outskirts of Backlund, south of the Bridge District, White Cliff Town."
Chumen's mouth twitched; it was actually not far from his manor.
Klein and Leonard looked at each other, both feeling some inexplicable excitement.
The carriage took less than half an hour to reach White Cliff Town, and then Chumen and the others discovered the entrance to the tomb at a bend in the Stifford River.
This place had already been explored; the stone pillars on the outermost perimeter of the tomb had already collapsed.
Chumen walked on the stairs polished from black marble and saw a huge, heavy, double-leaf dark gray stone door; a thick, heavy aura of history rushed toward them.
The stone door had already been opened, revealing a crack wide enough for two people to pass through.
"This is the mausoleum of the Amon Family?" Leonard looked curiously at the deep, dark crack.
"Amon Family?" Chumen looked as if he had heard some occult joke.
"Is there a problem here?" Klein keenly sensed Chumen's mood.
"The Pathway mastered by the Amon Family is the 'Marauder'." Chumen said with a smile, though he did not respond to Klein's response.
"And the most representative Beyonder ability of the 'Marauder' Pathway is 'Steal', while his Sequence 4 is called 'Parasite', which can split into avatars to perform Parasitism on others, and then steal their Fate and life."
Chumen's voice fell into Leonard's ears no less than a heaven-shaking thunderclap.
His entire person froze, not knowing how to react.
