Chapter 51: Deepening

~7 min read 1,285 words

While Demon Monarch Fabuti and Giant King Ormir were at war, Chumen directly threw out the demon ritual in his hand, and the ritual returned to an operational state.

He had stolen this demon ritual specifically to use it at this moment.

The reactivated demon ritual emitted bursts of Fallen aura and rapidly spread to the surroundings; this thing connected to the Abyss and could corrupt all things.

Chumen raised his hand to draw in the sunlight of the Creator Kingdom, suppressing the Fallen aura within a certain range.

Amanises gently raised her hand, hiding the fate of the three.

A few drops of demon blood appeared in Chumen's hand; this had been shed by that demon Angel, and he had stolen it into his grasp.

"Come out!" The Sage's Robe on Chumen's body had surging streams of information flashing, analyzing the information within.

After a few breaths, Chumen was basically familiar with this demon Angel, and then he reached out and pulled, dragging out the demon Angel's Historical Projection.

The demon Angel began to pray, causing a flickering passage to appear in the Abyss projection.

"Let's go!" Relying on his ability as a Traveler, Chumen tore through Space and walked into the passage first, heading toward the Abyss deep in the ocean, outside the continent.

Amanises threw out a Red Moon, and Lilith caught it with tacit understanding, activating that Red Moon so that blood-colored moonlight spilled down, blocking the Teleportation passage.

This would be their path of return.

"The environment of the Abyss is harsh; apart from 'Criminals', no Angels can survive here." Chumen walked into the Abyss, and the smell of sulfur, filthy and Fallen, rushed toward his face.

He took out the Black Emperor Crown and placed it on his head; a force of Distortion destroyed the survival Rules of the Abyss.

"Huh? That's not right!" Chumen suddenly felt a tangible attraction coming from the bottom of the Abyss, and the Black Emperor Crown on his head was trembling.

It was craving!

"Constructing a set of order that allows for survival in the harshest environment..."

This was a manifestation of the "Black Emperor" ability—to distort to the extreme and reproduce the establishment of an entire set of viable order.

Of course, adjacent Pathways also had the ability to directly formulate special Rules.

The Abyss was harsh enough; one could not even find a place in the universe with a harsher environment than this.

Yet many weak demons were able to survive here; this was something that at least Angels of other Pathways could do.

"Did the Demon Monarch devour High-sequence Characteristics of the two order-related Pathways?" Chumen made a guess.

The madness of the Demon Monarch was on par with the Destruction Demon Wolf; he was an Ancient God of the kind who could abandon even his own positioning. He possessed at least the High-sequence Characteristics of two Pathways, or even more!

"It seems the Demon Monarch didn't die in the end either; it's also possible that the relevant Characteristics were torn off during the God War..."

In Chumen's memory, Angels had once had their bodies hacked off and decomposed into Characteristics, so it was possible that the Demon Monarch was in such a situation.

Amanises and Lilisini also entered the Abyss, frowning at the harsh environment here.

Especially Lilith, who possessed extremely vigorous vitality and made no secret of her disgust.

"Only a madman like Fabuti would occupy the Abyss."

Lilith had already completely "come ashore"; she had never looked highly upon these Ancient Gods to begin with, and she was even more contemptuous of these remnants of the old era.

"Was the Abyss not created by Fabuti?" Chumen recalled this point.

"I'm not sure... Before we gained sentience, everything was untraceable, and from the time I had memories, the Abyss had already existed."

Lilith did not expect Chumen to ask such a question; she raised her beautiful brows and said uncertainly.

"When Fabuti first appeared and fought with us, he crawled out from the Abyss."

That meant it could not be determined.

Chumen and the two Goddesses walked through the Abyss; what met their eyes was black-red magma, and the smell of sulfur and the aura of Filth permeated the air.

"It is true that such a harsh environment is not suitable for survival, but it is not enough to threaten an Angel."

Chumen straightened the Black Emperor Crown on his head, and a concept of Authority radiated outward, distorting the Rules here; within a certain range, the three would not be affected by the Rules of the Abyss.

Pop!

An insignificant sound caused the expressions of all three to change drastically.

Whoosh! A wave of pollution like a real tide surged over.

It was black, red, and even colors of the Fallen that could not be described; they formed a tide that would sweep across the entire Abyss at regular intervals!

With the Black Emperor's control and Distortion of Rules, Chumen forcibly carved out a safe place within the tide, standing within it and enduring the impact of this pollution and corruption.

At the same time, he captured the information that could only be recorded by soil, air, and stone, inferring some information about this place.

"Such power has already exceeded Sequence 2..."

Amanises maintained a semi-Hidden state, with only a faint phantom existing; she sensed the level of this Filth and corruption and made a judgment.

"Fabuti has no subordinate gods at the Sequence 1 level." Lilith added.

So why did pollution with such a high level still exist here after Fabuti left the Abyss?

"It is the Abyss itself, or it comes from outside the Abyss!" Chumen also realized this point.

Regardless of which it was, the Abyss had major problems!

"Let's go directly!" Chumen tore through Space to teleport, heading toward the deepest level of the Abyss.

That was the domain where Demon Monarch Fabuti lived and slept, filled with unimaginable pollution—the kind of pollution that could affect gods!

This was also the reason why Sasriel had paid a great price to invite the three of them to act together.

He needed to know the situation at the bottom of the Abyss, and only when the Demon Monarch was in a God War with the Giant King would there be such an opportunity.

"Careful!" The three stood at the entrance to the last level of the Abyss; Lilith stopped, not rushing to enter.

"What is it?"

Chumen and Amanises both stopped, their bodies tensing up to guard against accidents.

"There is a massive amount of life aura inside."

Lilith frowned, looking at the entrance to the last level of the Abyss, feeling something strange.

"We are near the very bottom of the Abyss here, a place where only Angels among demons are qualified to reach; the existence of life is already pitifully scarce."

Chumen and Amanises both understood what Lilith meant, and a sense of vigilance grew in their hearts.

"I will go in first." Chumen walked toward the gate of the Abyss; he could not shrink back here.

He opened the Dream Book in his hand, and a large amount of Dream Phosphor wrapped around his body.

He was also confident that even if Demon Monarch Fabuti were here in person, with the Dream Book, he would not be killed in an instant by a single glance.

Chumen stepped forward without touching the gate of the Abyss, instead tearing through Space and entering by "Open Door."

"Are you kidding me? This is the final layer of the 'Abyss'?" Chumen's astonished voice came through the gate that had not yet closed.

The two Goddesses looked at each other and walked into it side by side.
