Chapter 51: The Sold Ye Qingfeng
“I think you’ve misunderstood something…” Zhe’s smile froze instantly. “Do I look like that kind of person?”
“Don’t you?”
Nico’s disgust deepened further.
Zhe sneered—he’d rather die outside than ever like this idiot with big boobs and no brain, whose head is full of Ding Ni!
If he had extra Ding Ni, he’d better buy a few more favorite video tapes, then enjoy them together with Qingfeng.
If he got together with Nico, he might never have more than four digits of Ding Ni on him his whole life!
“What do you mean?!”
Nico, classic tsundere, immediately stood up, glaring angrily at Zhe.
“Nico? Brother? What are you two doing?”
At that moment, Ling, having been useless in the kitchen, slunk back into the living room and just walked over to see the tense atmosphere between her brother and Nico.
“Ask your brother.”
Seeing Ling arrive, Nico said nothing more and gave Zhe no better expression either, snorting softly as she sat back down.
“What did you do to make Nico so angry?”
Ling leaned close to Zhe like an inquisitive child.
“Remember the plan you told me about?” Zhe lowered his voice and whispered to Ling right in front of Nico.
“You mean that one?”
Ling instantly understood, a faint blush rising on her cheeks.
“Exactly! Wait for my signal!” Zhe glanced at Nico, saw she wasn’t eavesdropping, then continued: “Let’s kidnap Qingfeng!”
“No problem!”
Ling had been feeling down because she couldn’t help Ye Qingfeng in the kitchen, but hearing Zhe say this, she was wide awake!
Nico pretended not to care, but was dying to know what they were talking about—too wary to get closer, she could only sneak glances now and then.
“So, Nico, how about making this mission fee free?”
Zhe crossed his legs, smirking confidently at Nico.
Nico didn’t believe for a second that these two had anything good in mind, watching Zhe with sharp suspicion.
If it were just Ling, she’d have agreed without hesitation—but after dealing with Zhe for so long, she knew he was far too clever!
She’d see just what this little fox was up to!
Ling noticed Nico’s lingering caution and spoke up: “Yeah, Nico~ Don’t let this golden chance slip away!”
“Just say your terms outright.”
Nico wanted to see what trick these two were hiding.
“Aww—!” Zhe, seeing Nico still unmoved, began complaining again: “Nico, you don’t know how understaffed the video shop is—me and my sister are swamped. If someone could help out now and then, it’d be a lifesaver.”
Understaffed at the video shop?
They always have just one Bambu watching the store—tell me they’re swamped?
Nico wasn’t Anbi or Billy; she’d never believe such a ridiculous excuse.
But Nico immediately picked out the key detail from Zhe’s words, combined with how these two treated Ye Qingfeng, and instantly uncovered their scheme.
“Qingfeng?”
Nico no longer wanted to dance around with Zhe; she cut straight to the point.
Zhe, equally aware of Nico’s cunning, wasn’t surprised she’d figured it out—or rather, he’d intended for her to.
“Since Nico’s figured it out… is it a deal?”
He could already smell the aroma drifting from the kitchen; to savor Ye Qingfeng’s cooking properly, he had no intention of dragging this out.
“Of course… no!”
Nico rejected him without hesitation.
Does he really think she’d sell a companion for Ding Ni?!
Qingfeng was her dearest family, her beloved brother!
“Future missions get you a discount,” Zhe interlaced his fingers, palm down, covering his mouth. “Twenty percent off!”
“Absolutely not! I’ve always treated Qingfeng like a little brother…”
Before Nico finished, Zhe cut in: “Fifteen percent off!”
“Deal!!”
Nico and Zhe stood up, smiling, and shook hands in truce.
“What happened? Why are you all smiling so much?”
Ye Qingfeng walked up to the three, wearing a pink apron, placing two dishes on the table.
“Nothing…”
Zhe, feeling slightly guilty toward Ye Qingfeng, muttered under his breath.
“Sorry to put you through this…”
Nico patted Ye Qingfeng’s shoulder solemnly.
He’d only been cooking—why did he feel like he’d just been sold?
“Dinner’s almost ready,” Ye Qingfeng shook his head, utterly trusting Nico wouldn’t harm him. “Nico-ah, go upstairs and call Anbi and Billy down.”
“Alright.”
Nico agreed and turned toward the stairs.
“Qingfeng, let me help you carry the dishes.”
Ling rose and followed Ye Qingfeng into the kitchen, quickly carrying two dishes out to the living room, setting them down, then dashing back in.
“Delivery complete!” Ling saluted Ye Qingfeng with a grin, then stared fixedly at the freshly cooked sliced fish in chili oil.
The pristine, tender fish slices shimmered faintly in the bright red chili oil, releasing a mouthwatering aroma.
The scent made Ling’s saliva flow uncontrollably.
Smells so good!
But there’s so much chili… it must be incredibly spicy…
To avoid disappointing Ye Qingfeng, she’d eat it no matter how spicy!
“This dish only looks spicy—it’s not actually that hot,” Ye Qingfeng noticed Ling’s fixed gaze and swallowing, picked up chopsticks, and lifted a slice of fish toward her lips. “Want to try?”
Ling stared at the fish slice held before her, her throat involuntarily bobbing; as she followed the chopsticks, she saw Ye Qingfeng smiling faintly, his eyes holding a hint of anticipation.
Suddenly, all sound around her vanished—she heard only her heart, like a wild horse galloping, pounding deafeningly “thump-thump” in her chest!
“I—I won’t be rude!”
Ling whispered a polite excuse, then closed her eyes, leaned forward, and bit the fish slice off the chopsticks.
The moment the fish entered her mouth, a fiery rush of chili and Sichuan pepper struck—then the tender flesh melted on her tongue.
Mmm~! Incredibly tender! Melts in the mouth!
The numbing, spicy fragrance exploded in her mouth—Ling instantly fell in love with this dish!
Ye Qingfeng saw Ling’s cheeks flushed like ripe apples and assumed she couldn’t handle the spice—or that he’d made it too hot.
“It’s not too spicy, right?”
Ye Qingfeng asked uncertainly, as Ling kept her eyes shut.
She didn’t respond—he had no choice but to pick up a slice himself and taste it.
The instant Ye Qingfeng placed the fish slice in his mouth, Ling opened her eyes in disbelief, staring at him as he swallowed.
Huh… EHHH—!
Those were the chopsticks I just used!
Qingfeng and I just had an indirect kiss!!
