Chapter 50
Under Zhe’s superb driving, the three arrived quickly at the Rabbit Hole residence; Ye Qingfeng had expected Zhe and Ling to continue clashing.
But the two behaved perfectly normally—Zhe’s gaze toward him had grown much clearer, and Ling was no longer as bold as before, though she still occasionally stole glances at him.
Overall, Ye Qingfeng sighed in relief; the earlier situation had been terrifying, and he never wanted to experience it again in his life.
After getting out of the car, Zhe helped carry one bag and walked silently behind Ye Qingfeng.
He recalled the earlier scene and wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear—he truly couldn’t understand why he’d acted like that.
And the thoughts he’d had back then—now thinking about them sent chills down his spine and raised every hair on his body; if anyone found out, he’d surely run off alone to the Hollow to die.
Better to become a Withered Corpse... at least better than social death...
Ling followed silently beside Ye Qingfeng, keeping a small distance.
For Ling, what had happened just moments ago was still far too bold...
When she’d watched her brother cover Ye Qingfeng’s mouth, she’d thought: when Ye Qingfeng was nearly unconscious, she’d step in to help—he’d surely be too dizzy from lack of oxygen to stand.
At that moment, she could take advantage! Make Ye Qingfeng collapse onto her!
The outcome unfolded exactly as she’d planned; she seized the chance for intimate contact with Ye Qingfeng.
Roughly speaking, it was as if Ye Qingfeng had embraced her, feeling each other’s warmth, his hot breath brushing against her skin.
Now, recalling that sensation, Ling’s body grew warm and her nostrils itched—without doubt, a trickle of crimson blood would spill out in the next second.
She forcibly halted her thoughts, yet her pale cheeks still flushed red.
Ye Qingfeng, accompanied by the unusually silent Zhe and Ling, finally arrived at his home.
“Bang bang—!”
Ye Qingfeng watched the setting sun and knocked firmly on the door.
Soon, Anbi bounced over and opened the door, poking her head out, ignoring the other two, her large, sparkling eyes staring blankly at Ye Qingfeng.
Stare—! (●ˇ?ˇ●)
“Uh... Anbi?”
Ye Qingfeng stared at Anbi for a long while without her moving; he finally spoke up: “Can you let us in?”
“Mmm... hamburger!”
Ye Qingfeng smiled helplessly—of course, Anbi was still just as... as clueless?
He recalled Anbi’s performance in the Hollow—her sharp gaze, elegant movements, precise slashes.
He simply couldn’t reconcile this clueless, adorable Anbi with the one from before.
Yet her seriousness applied only to Withered Corpses and enemies; most of the time, she was still that cute, clueless Anbi.
“No problem! I’ll make you a hamburger tonight!”
Ye Qingfeng reached out and pinched Anbi’s cheek gently.
After receiving Ye Qingfeng’s reply, Anbi immediately stepped aside and said flatly, “Qingfeng is the best.”
Then she dashed off in a flash.
Truly, not a single clue to Anbi’s thoughts...
“Hehe... Anbi’s just like this,” Ye Qingfeng explained to the two who’d been waiting behind him, then gestured them inside. “Alright, come in, don’t be formal.”
Ling: “Sorry to bother you!”
Zhe: “Sorry to bother you.”
Ling stepped inside like a curious child, glancing everywhere; Zhe, however, was polite and asked if they should take off their shoes.
“No need—just come in!”
Ye Qingfeng walked in without changing shoes too; he was the only one in this house without slippers...
Just thinking about it made him pitiful.
“Is it Qing... Phaethon?!”
Nico, sitting on the sofa, heard the noise at the door and assumed Ye Qingfeng had returned; she was hungry, too, but turned around to see Phaethon and his sister approaching.
She was genuinely surprised by their arrival.
“Why are you here?!”
Nico quickly regained her composure and pulled her leg off the coffee table.
“Let me be clear! No matter how you convinced Qingfeng to bring you here, the Rabbit Hole really can’t pay you any commission fee right now.”
“Hehe... don’t worry, we’re not here for the commission fee.”
Zhe walked to an empty sofa, glanced questioningly at Nico for permission to sit; after she nodded, he placed a large bag of mackerel cans on the coffee table and sat down casually.
After all, this was someone else’s home—he couldn’t act as casually as Ling—but since they were all familiar and Nico still owed a commission fee, he didn’t need to be overly polite.
“You brought all these mackerel cans as a gift?” Nico picked up one can idly, not looking up. “You think I’m a Cathean? Oh—! The mackerel cans are on sale, right?”
Nico wasn’t the type to pretend politeness; knowing Zhe hadn’t come all this way for Ding Ni, she had zero fear.
“If these were truly my gift, Nico guessed pretty close!”
Zhe glanced around searching for Ling’s whereabouts, finally spotting her in the kitchen; once he confirmed her position, he continued:
“But these were all bought by Qingfeng. Honestly, we came in such a rush we didn’t bring any gift at all—how about I make it up to you next time?”
“Don’t even think about it!” Nico rolled her eyes at Zhe, though her lips curled slightly. “Just give me a discount on the commission fee.”
Nico didn’t need to think—she rejected Zhe’s proposal outright. Aside from another payment of Ding Ni, she wanted nothing else; better to use this chance to get a discount.
“No problem.”
Zhe agreed without hesitation.
If he and his sister had come alone, no matter how dazzling Nico’s promises, he wouldn’t have agreed—he and Ling had to eat too!
But since Qingfeng invited him over for dinner, he didn’t mind granting a favor—though not for Nico’s sake.
She had zero credibility here... well...
At least a little credibility remained, since she’d called a doctor back then.
But most importantly, Zhe was looking forward to eating the dish Ye Qingfeng would cook—his mood was quite good.
“Hey, you...” Nico frowned at Zhe. “What are you up to?”
Nico hadn’t expected Zhe to agree—but she hadn’t expected him to agree so instantly. He must have some hidden motive.
“Would you like the commission fee to be free this time?”
Zhe smirked, raising a hand before Nico and making a rubbing motion with his fingers.
Nico instantly shrank back, crossing her arms over her chest, glaring at Zhe as if he were trash.
