Chapter 57: Morning Routine

~6 min read 1,131 words

Ye Qingfeng tiptoed to the window, yanked open the curtains, and let sunlight flood into the room, landing on Nico’s face as she slept in a peculiar posture.

Her hair was a tangled mess, a glistening strand of drool clinging to her lips; the blanket, for some reason, covered only her lower half, one strap of her purple nightdress slipped down her arm, exposing vast stretches of skin without restraint.

Nico yanked the blanket over her head with force and shouted irritably, “Are you trying to kill me?!”

As Nico tugged the blanket, a pair of tiny, delicate feet were suddenly exposed to the air—her arches gently curved, her toes plump and lustrous, her skin as smooth and flawless as sheep’s fat jade.

This scene unfolded nearly every day before Ye Qingfeng’s eyes, and he should be used to it by now—but each time he saw Nico’s ample curves and those pink, delicate feet,

he still couldn’t help swallowing hard.

“Nico, wake up.”

Ye Qingfeng suppressed the rising lust in his heart, walked to the bed, and nudged Nico, who was buried under the blanket.

Seeing no response, he pulled back the blanket just enough to reveal her head, then pinched her cheek. “If you don’t get up, Anbi will finish breakfast!”

The next second, Nico finally reacted, slowly opening her eyes and gazing drowsily at Ye Qingfeng; feeling the tug on her face, her already foggy gaze instantly turned icy. “Let go right now?!”

“I’m coming down! Get out now!”

Nico didn’t wait for Ye Qingfeng to react and continued speaking.

“Got it!” Ye Qingfeng snatched his hand back and slunk out of the room, pausing at the door to remind her, “Hurry down!”

“Alright...”

Nico sat up abruptly, yawning as she gave a half-hearted reply.

To be safe, Ye Qingfeng glanced at Nico, who was already up, then finally felt reassured enough to head downstairs. As soon as he reached the bottom, he saw Anbi sitting on the sofa, her eyes locked onto the hamburgers on the coffee table.

“Qingfeng? Why are there four hamburgers?”

Anbi turned at the sound behind her, and when she saw it was Ye Qingfeng, a flicker of disappointment passed through her eyes.

After all, if Nico didn’t come down, she could only stare at these four juicy, tender hamburgers...

“Because there were four fish patties left,” Ye Qingfeng sat down beside Anbi as if it were obvious. “I turned them all into fish burgers—otherwise they’d go to waste.”

“Ohhh! So I can have two?” Anbi’s gaze remained fixed on the burgers as she asked uncertainly.

Ye Qingfeng watched Anbi like a starving puppy who’d just spotted a bone in front of her, barely holding back the urge to rush forward and bite into it himself.

“Yeah... go ahead and eat. Nico should be down soon.” He glanced back at the stairs—still no sign of her—so he let Anbi eat first. “If we wait any longer, the burgers will get cold.”

Mostly because he was afraid the kid would starve and drool all over the floor!

Ye Qingfeng was considering going back upstairs to call Nico again when suddenly a burger appeared at his lips. Following the line of sight, he met Anbi’s anxious, pleading gaze.

He bit into it on impulse; Anbi immediately retracted her arm and took a large, satisfied bite.

“I didn’t know!” Nico happened to come downstairs at that moment and watched the scene with a teasing smile. “Young Master Qingfeng needs to be fed his meals?”

“Hey!” Ye Qingfeng immediately bristled. “What kind of nonsense is that?! She offered it to me herself! Right, Anbi?!”

“Mm!”

Anbi swallowed her bite, murmured softly, then went back to devouring the burger.

“Heh...” Nico gave Ye Qingfeng a scornful look and sat down on the armchair. “You definitely coerced her into doing it.”

Ye Qingfeng picked up a fork, speared a cherry tomato, and popped it into his mouth—clearly refusing to engage.

“Did I hit the mark?” Nico took a small bite of her burger and watched Ye Qingfeng with amusement. “Now you won’t even try to deny it?”

“Then make Anbi give you a bite of her burger.”

Ye Qingfeng snorted challengingly.

“Anbi! Bring me your burger!” Nico called out confidently. “Give me one bite!”

Anbi glanced at Nico, then swallowed the rest of her burger in one go. “No... (chew chew)... it’s all gone!” (chew chew)

As soon as Anbi finished speaking, a loud swallow echoed in Nico’s ears.

Nico stared at the scene, helplessly pursing her lips. She’d actually held out a sliver of hope for Anbi—she was confident in her on any other matter—but the moment hamburgers were involved, that hope vanished instantly.

Now she was even more curious about what Ye Qingfeng had done to Anbi to make her reluctantly share even a single bite.

“Anbi, why did you give Qingfeng a bite of your burger?”

Nico asked Anbi directly, without hesitation.

“Because...” Anbi had already picked up her second burger and, while chewing, mumbled, “Qingfeng said if he feeds me, he’ll make me burgers later!”

“Oh? Really?” Nico took a small bite of her burger and gave Ye Qingfeng a sly, knowing look. “So you’re deceiving innocent little Anbi like this, Colorful Wind?”

She didn’t know the exact details, but she was certain Ye Qingfeng had said something along these lines—maybe slightly different, but essentially the same!

“So what?!” Ye Qingfeng retorted stubbornly. “I work my ass off every day at the Rabbit’s Den—can’t I enjoy a little feeding service?”

“Fine by me,” Nico said, holding up half her burger with a smile. “Since you put it that way, I suppose I’ll reluctantly feed you one bite—you’ve worked so hard, after all!”

Ye Qingfeng eyed Nico warily, scanning her face for any sign of trickery. Knowing her nature, she’d never be this generous—he’d bite and lose a whole month’s salary.

But then again—he’d never actually received a salary in the first place.

Thinking of this, Ye Qingfeng grabbed Nico’s wrist decisively, bit a large chunk from the burger in front of her, and smirked, “Want a bite of mine too?”

Before Nico could respond, Anbi shouted out, “Yes!”

“You already ate two!” Ye Qingfeng laughed bitterly, watching Anbi eyeing his burger while still chewing hers. “Eat more and you’ll turn into a pig’s head!”

“Then give me your burger,” Anbi pushed her vegetable salad toward Ye Qingfeng. “I’ll give you my salad!”

“Not a chance.”

Ye Qingfeng knew Anbi hated vegetables—he’d force her to eat them anyway, and so would Nico.

How could you not eat vegetables?!
