Chapter 7
Ye Qingfeng couldn’t help but smile slightly; under the circumstances, Nico wouldn’t have noticed such fine details, meaning she couldn’t verify whether his words were true.
Pretending not to know still works wonders!
Although the nosebleed had stopped after just one minute—likely thanks to the body-enhancing serum—the residual blood still needed cleaning up, or else… Nico would kill him…
“Hasn’t Nico come down yet?”
Anbi sat dazed on the sofa, turned her head at the sound of footsteps, and watched Ye Qingfeng descend the stairs—but saw no sign of Nico. She asked aloud.
“Nico will be right down. I’m going to wash my face first.”
After answering Anbi’s question while clutching his nose, Ye Qingfeng hurried into the bathroom.
Moments later, he stared grimly at the mirror, frowning slightly, a few water droplets still clinging to his long eyelashes.
If anyone found out about this transmigration… the consequences were unthinkable!
He still didn’t understand some basic facts about this world.
Billy had two handguns—and he didn’t even bother hiding them? Anbi also showed signs of training.
Add to that the mysterious terms “Hollow” and “Aether,” and he still didn’t know the upper limit of this world’s combat power…
Could someone go mad and try to destroy the world…?
This world was definitely not safe at all!
But it had nothing to do with him. If the sky fell, taller people would hold it up. Why overthink it?
Ye Qingfeng tidied his already neat attire in the mirror, steadied his mindset, and stepped out of the bathroom.
He turned and saw Nico sitting beside Anbi, now wearing a simple white short-sleeve shirt, chatting cheerfully with Anbi.
“Good morning, Nico.”
Ye Qingfeng walked over and sat down on another empty sofa, greeting Nico.
“Morning… you can cook?”
Nico looked closely at the breakfast on the table and asked, puzzled.
As for what had just happened, Nico had reacted instinctively, and she hadn’t been naked—everything necessary was covered. So what if he saw?
She preferred casual, loose clothing anyway; she wouldn’t sacrifice her comfort just because there was a man in the house.
“A little.”
Ye Qingfeng subtly made an OK sign, leaving a thin gap between his thumb and index finger.
“A little’s enough. Qingfeng, you’re in charge of the Rabbit House’s meals from now on. Once we’re stable, we’ll hire a real chef.”
Nico’s calculations were loud and clear; Ye Qingfeng couldn’t miss them. If they were going to hire a chef, why wait until now? Besides… there were barely three of them. Why go through the trouble?
“Fine…”
Ye Qingfeng reluctantly agreed, noticing Nico’s threatening glare and Anbi’s fixed stare.
“Good (chew chew), don’t worry—I’ll pay you (chew chew).”
Nico gave Ye Qingfeng a look that said “wise men adapt to circumstances,” picked up a fried egg, and shoved it into her mouth.
Anbi eagerly sandwiched two fried eggs between slices of bread and devoured them in big bites.
Seeing Anbi’s eating method, Ye Qingfeng couldn’t help but wonder if she’d washed her hands…
After Nico finished her milk in one gulp and casually wiped the white residue from her lips, breakfast ended.
[Ding!! Nico and Anbi’s affection increased by 5%]
Anbi’s current affection: 15%
Nico’s current affection: 20%
Ye Qingfeng couldn’t help but wonder what reward this might bring.
“Nico, can you come with me to buy some stuff? And tell me what’s been happening lately.”
Ye Qingfeng gazed at Nico with wide, sparkling eyes.
“You’re impossible. Anbi, are you coming?”
Nico sighed as if reluctantly agreeing, then turned to Anbi.
“Yes.”
Anbi, still smearing grease on her lips, didn’t say much—just nodded, dashed into the bathroom, and immediately the sound of running water began.
“Let’s go.”
Nico stood up with a sigh and headed for the door first.
This outing would surely cost a fortune. For her, as long as money wasn’t mentioned, everything was negotiable.
But Ye Qingfeng was penniless—he still needed to buy essentials. Ugh… more spending. Would he even make it through this month?
“Wait, I’m going to change clothes.”
Anbi came out of the bathroom, then darted upstairs like a flash.
The two sat back on the sofa and waited a moment before Anbi, now dressed, walked up to Ye Qingfeng.
He took the chance to observe her outfit: a black-and-green top, a black pleated skirt below, radiating youthful energy.
Her long legs were sheathed in black stockings, her back adorned with a highly sci-fi backpack and a sleek long blade.
A long blade?! Can you really carry a sword on the street?
Bam!
Nico, seeing Ye Qingfeng staring intently without restraint, delivered a sharp chop to the back of his head without hesitation, teasing:
“You stared at my chest the moment you woke up yesterday, and now you’re eyeing Anbi? Guess I’ll have to watch you closer from now on… Pervert!”
Nico understood young men had their urges. Just looking didn’t bother her—better for her own people than outsiders.
Outside, men often stared at her with lecherous eyes. Some even tried to act on it—only to be easily subdued by her.
She could even charge them for the privilege!
“Haha… Nico, what are you talking about? Even rabbits don’t eat the grass around their burrows. I’d never think like that.”
Ye Qingfeng laughed awkwardly and quickly explained.
“If you want to look that much… it’s not a problem.”
Nico knelt on the sofa with one leg, the other foot planted on the floor, slowly leaning her weight onto Ye Qingfeng’s back. A sly smile curled on her lips as she whispered near his ear, teasing:
“Feel free to look anytime—but your cooking fees are canceled. And don’t get carried away~ or you’ll die horribly!”
Ye Qingfeng’s body stiffened, forced to feel the soft, full pressure against his back, warm breath brushing his ear—he swallowed hard.
Anbi stood motionless beside them, curiously watching the scene.
Got it! If Qingfeng can look freely, he’ll keep cooking delicious food!
Blushing furiously, Ye Qingfeng didn’t know how to respond—his heart raced—when Nico suddenly stood up, walked over to Anbi, and covered her mouth with a smug grin:
“Perfect! Since you didn’t refuse, that means you accept, right?”
Ye Qingfeng’s eyes widened in disbelief—he hadn’t expected Nico to be so cunning. He opened his mouth to protest, but she cut him off.
“By the way, today’s massage and soothing voice for sleep count as payment for your expenses—deducted from your future salary.”
