Chapter 87: Nico is still the same Nico
Ye Qingfeng bought a ticket, entered the station, and boarded the subway, arriving safely at the Rabbit Hole before nightfall; the one who opened the door for him was the adorable Anbi, who dashed back to the sofa after letting him in.
By the way, earlier that morning he had specifically bought a pair of slippers—he was now a person who owned slippers.
“What? Why did you rush me back here?”
Ye Qingfeng slipped on the slippers and walked naturally to the sofa, sitting down with his legs crossed as he sized up Nico and Anbi sitting across from him.
Anbi had changed out of her white dress from earlier and now wore casual clothes along with her ever-present black skirt.
Still just as adorable!
As for Nico... she seems to change clothes three or four times a day—pajamas, home clothes, a second set of home clothes, then back to pajamas after showering.
And this is even when she doesn’t leave the house...
But no matter what she wears, she can’t hide her stunning figure!
Amazing!
“Good evening.”
Anbi gave Ye Qingfeng a dazed greeting, with a faint air of human-machine disconnect...
“There’s something important...” Nico glanced at Anbi beside her, her lips twitching; she turned her head away, her gaze drifting uncertainly toward Ye Qingfeng. “Why don’t we cook first? We can talk while eating.”
“Sure!” Ye Qingfeng agreed readily, yet he didn’t rise—instead, he reached out his hand toward Nico. “But before you cook, isn’t there something else?”
“What?”
Nico tilted her head, puzzled.
“Give me Ding Ni!” Ye Qingfeng said bluntly.
????!!!!
“I never thought you were this kind of person!”
Nico shot to her feet, pointing at Ye Qingfeng in outrage.
Now it was Ye Qingfeng’s turn to be confused!
Wait, earlier you wouldn’t pay me wages, and I had to wash clothes and cook every day!
And now that I’ve finally accepted it, you still expect me to cook for free?
So all my acceptance was for nothing?!
Ye Qingfeng’s face darkened as he prepared to reason with Nico, but she beat him to it, launching into a complaint: “How can you do this to me? How can you betray the Rabbit Hole? You heartless bastard!”
?
Ye Qingfeng’s first thought was that Nico had found out about Zhu Yuan—but then he realized that was impossible.
Unless Nico had a mole in the Public Security Bureau!
But the key question was—why did she look like the victim?
Nico bit her lip, her eyes slightly reddened, wearing the look of a woman abandoned by a scoundrel.
She never imagined Ye Qingfeng was the type to be ungrateful—and how could he even have the nerve to come back? And dare to ask for Ding Ni?!
The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt; her eyes slowly filled with tears. Beside her, Anbi silently picked up the long sword on the coffee table, gripping the scabbard and slowly drawing it out.
Ye Qingfeng felt utterly innocent—he had no idea how he had wronged Nico, or how he had betrayed the Rabbit Hole.
“Don’t you think you should tell me what happened before drawing your sword?”
Ye Qingfeng’s lips twitched; he sensed deep hidden issues here—shouldn’t they clarify things first?
“Fine!” Nico pressed down on the fiercely watching Anbi, took a deep breath, and began recounting her nearly certain guess.
“Didn’t Billy say this morning he was going to introduce you to a girl?”
Ye Qingfeng hadn’t expected the accusation to start here, but he gritted his teeth and answered: “Yes.”
“Hmph!” Nico let out a cold laugh; she hadn’t expected him to admit it so honestly—she might have slightly raised her opinion of him, but her tone turned bitter as she continued: “Then why were you and Billy both gone this afternoon? Did you go meet that woman? Can her figure compare to mine?!” Fuming, Nico hefted her ample bust and shouted: “If you’ve set your eyes on some outside woman, how dare you come back? And how dare you ask for Ding Ni?!”
"Then you and Billy weren't around this afternoon! Did you go to see that woman?! Does she have a better figure than me?!" Nico shouted, hefting her ample melon-like bust, "If you've set your eyes on some outside woman, how dare you come back? And how can you even ask for Ding Ni?!"
Nico grew more agitated, pointing furiously at the distant door: “If you plan to keep seeing that woman, you can leave right now!”
Ye Qingfeng couldn’t help but smile, letting out a laugh. Nico blinked, then snarled: “What’s so funny? Did I expose your dirty thoughts and now you’re just dropping the act?”
“No! I just didn’t expect you to have such a wild imagination!” Ye Qingfeng had assumed she meant Zhu Yuan, but after hearing her out, he realized it was a massive misunderstanding. He shrugged and spoke plainly: “I did go to meet a girl this afternoon—but it had nothing to do with Billy. The Public Security Bureau asked me to assist with tomorrow’s event.”
Nico’s affection for Ye Qingfeng had also reached 60%; logically, she shouldn’t have reacted so strongly. But when you listened to what she’d said, it became clear: her anger stemmed from believing Ye Qingfeng had betrayed her—along with Billy, both had silently chosen to abandon her.
And Ye Qingfeng’s blunt demand for Ding Ni had confirmed her suspicion. In the past, he never would’ve said such a thing—but now things were different.
Who would accept working without pay and doing all the cooking?
Besides, Ye Qingfeng had no reason to hide the Zhu Yuan matter—it would’ve been better to just say it outright; otherwise, when Nico eventually found out, she’d only spiral again.
In the end, this whole mess was Billy’s fault!!!
“Eh?” Nico froze after hearing Ye Qingfeng’s explanation; Anbi, meanwhile, quietly sheathed her sword and said calmly: “I told you Qingfeng isn’t that kind of person. You misunderstood him.”
“Anbi!” Nico’s face instantly flushed crimson; she wanted to crawl into a hole. She cleared her throat feebly: “Cough! Uh... Qingfeng, how about we pretend this never happened?”
After over a month of living together, both Nico and Anbi trusted Ye Qingfeng—but Billy’s words that morning had planted a seed of doubt in Nico’s mind.
Anbi, however, had trusted Ye Qingfeng from the start; when the two stood on opposite sides, it was no surprise she sided with Nico.
“Heh...” Ye Qingfeng stared at Nico with a sardonic smile. “What do you think?”
Unlike her, Anbi had always believed in Ye Qingfeng, but when the two stood on opposite sides, she was unsurprised to find herself standing beside Nico.
Nico, feeling guilty under Ye Qingfeng’s unwavering gaze, turned her head away, cheeks burning, and let out a soft, adorable whine as she bit her lip and gave in: “Then what do you want?!”
Ye Qingfeng chuckled, a playful glint in his eyes as he scanned Nico and Anbi before him.
“First, let me be clear—this has nothing to do with Anbi!”
Nico stepped forward, standing alone in front of Anbi, taking full responsibility.
Ye Qingfeng felt like the villain—he was the one wrongly accused, the one slandered, and now here she was again, pulling this nonsense...
“Three conditions, or ten thousand Ding Ni?”
Ye Qingfeng thought for a moment and stated his demand bluntly; Nico didn’t hesitate: “Three conditions!”
Nico is still the same Nico...
