Chapter 88: The Adorable Nico and the Perpetually Persecuted Billy
When a person is utterly speechless, they become especially speechless; Ye Qingfeng and Ding Ni didn’t dare set the bar too high, and Nico unsurprisingly chose the option to remove Ding Ni...
Nico had already spoken before her mind caught up; when she finally realized what she’d said, her pupils dilated sharply, and she clutched her rosy little lips with slender hands, her delicate, jade-white fingers adorned with colorful, glossy nail polish.
Nico regretted speaking so impulsively, but then she thought: since Ye Qingfeng has the desire but not the courage, what’s there to fear? She straightened her posture and puffed out her chest. “Three it is! I won’t back down!”
But she didn’t know that the Ye Qingfeng before her was now vastly different from before.
“Then the first condition: give me one hundred thousand Ding Ni!”
Watching Nico’s arrogant demeanor, Ye Qingfeng sneered and reached out to her again, determined to crush her bravado.
“No! You can’t do that!” Nico’s confident expression froze, twisting into a look uglier than crying as she gazed pitifully at Ye Qingfeng. “That’s not fair!!”
They say women are born actresses—this was proven true in Nico. One moment she was untouchable, the next she looked utterly wronged.
Nico, penniless, could only beg for forgiveness by being adorable—and to his dismay, Ye Qingfeng found it effective, choosing to let her off for now.
Hmph! Women!
Ye Qingfeng walked straight toward Nico, and she instinctively shrank back, hunching her shoulders.
“Admit you’re wrong?”
Ye Qingfeng smirked and grabbed both sides of Nico’s cheeks.
“I’m... wrong!”
“Will you stop thinking nonsense anymore?”
“Mmm! No more nonsense!”
“Will you still doubt me?”
Ye Qingfeng suddenly released his grip and began rubbing instead, vigorously kneading Nico’s chubby cheeks.
“I trust you the most! Qingfeng, I’m sorry~”
Nico suddenly widened her eyes, gazing at Ye Qingfeng with a pitiful look, her voice dripping with cuteness as she tried to beg for mercy.
Ye Qingfeng nodded in satisfaction and released her cheeks. “Fine! The magnanimous Lord Qingfeng shall forgive your transgressions!”
“?” Nico rubbed her reddened cheeks helplessly. Though annoyed, she picked up his line, her tone slightly dismissive. “Alright, alright! Thank you, Lord Qingfeng, for your forgiveness!”
Unlike Nico, who appears careless but is actually meticulous, the clueless little Anbi is the cutest!
“Little Anbi!” Ye Qingfeng hugged the soft, squishy Anbi and rubbed his face against hers. “You’re the best! Unlike someone who still doubts me!”
Huhu! Anbi really is super soft to hug!
Ooh! Her skin is so smooth! Rub rub!
“Qing... Qingfeng, I want a hamburger.”
Anbi showed no resistance to Ye Qingfeng’s sudden attack, standing perfectly still—though his actions made her speech slightly muffled.
“No problem! Is one enough?” Ye Qingfeng beamed as he released Anbi and ruffled her hair. “Not enough? Then two!”
“Mm! Two is fine!”
Anbi bowed her head slightly, speaking with solemn seriousness.
“No problem!”
Nico watched Ye Qingfeng’s treatment of Anbi and felt sour—even though it was her own fault—she rolled her eyes. “Hmph! Men!”
“Oh? Is Sister Nico jealous?” Ye Qingfeng sidled up to Nico with a cheeky grin. “I’ll only hug you once! Hamburgers are only for Anbi!”
“Pfft! Who cares!”
Nico turned her head away haughtily, her twin pigtails whipping across Ye Qingfeng’s face.
Ye Qingfeng flicked his finger lightly against Nico’s forehead, instantly putting her on high alert.
Nico clutched her forehead and shouted at Ye Qingfeng: “You have no respect for the boss of the Rabbit’s Den! I’m docking your salary!”
Her outburst earned her a fierce glare from Ye Qingfeng; she instantly fell silent, pretending not to notice, pouting and blowing a silent whistle.
Ye Qingfeng turned and walked into the kitchen without looking back. “Sister Nico, if you don’t pay me my salary soon, I swear I’ll find someone else!”
“Pfft! Who else would even look at you!”
Nico muttered under her breath.
Luckily, she’d lowered her voice enough that Ye Qingfeng didn’t hear—otherwise, he’d pinch her cheeks until they were red and swollen again.
Nico sat down absentmindedly, watching Ye Qingfeng’s busy back, her gaze growing distant.
Has Qingfeng been here over a month? Seems I still owe him over two hundred thousand Ding Ni... If it were anyone else, they’d have run off by now...
But... it’s not that I don’t want to pay! I really have no Ding Ni left!!
Even though I exchanged the last reward for Qingfeng’s services instead of giving it to Fa Tong, I haven’t received any new missions lately!!
Not just Qingfeng—even Anbi and Billy haven’t been paid in the past month.
Billy has been complaining nonstop about it, but...
Nico’s gaze suddenly sharpened on Ye Qingfeng. There was something different about him today, but she couldn’t say what.
“Anbi, don’t you think Qingfeng’s been acting weird since he came back?”
Nico asked Anbi, who sat beside her.
“Since Qingfeng returned, his aura has changed,” Anbi said, turning her gaze from the kitchen and tilting her head thoughtfully. “And he’s become much livelier.”
“Much livelier?”
Nico’s lip twitched at Anbi’s vague description, but then she realized—yes, it was true. Before, he had a faint air of death about him; now, his personality really did feel brighter.
The sun quietly set beyond the sky, a crescent moon hanging above. The Rabbit’s Den was filled with rich aromas—unsurprisingly, all coming from the kitchen.
Nico glared resentfully at a certain robot, while Billy sat across from her on the sofa, looking utterly wronged—he’d just returned and was immediately pinned by her bitter stare.
Billy got blamed again, feeling more wronged than ever...
She was furious at Billy for making her agree to three conditions.
Meanwhile, Anbi was in the kitchen under the pretense of tasting, sneaking bites from every freshly cooked dish, offering a review after each one.
From the faint smile on Anbi’s face, it was clear every dish suited her taste.
“Stop snacking! Bring the dishes out,” Ye Qingfeng scowled at Anbi. Each plate clearly had a corner missing—no surprise, all gone into her stomach. “Only the hamburgers left to make.”
“Okay.”
Anbi nodded like a pecking chick and swiftly carried each dish to the living room’s coffee table.
By the time she finished, the two steaks were perfectly seared outside and tender within.
Ye Qingfeng flipped the steaks onto buns, assembled the hamburgers, placed them on a tray, and carried them out of the kitchen. “Dinner’s ready!”
