Chapter 295: Burning
"I'm telling you, I really like this feeling right now." Luo Qi lay on the ground, his gaze still fixed on the night sky, starlight falling into his eyes. There was still blood on his face, yet he chuckled happily, "This feeling is like being a god; with a single thought, all possible outcomes are clearly laid out in my mind. Brother, have you ever been this smart?"
"I don't need to be smart," Du Zhengyi said, not even asking what he meant by such mindless talk.
Majiang let out a "pssh" of laughter and disconnected his Medical Magic; the emergency treatment for Luo Qi was complete, and the next stage of treatment could wait.
"Du Zhengyi means that he doesn't need to be too smart to finish you off," Majiang said. He turned to Du Zhengyi, signaling that it was his turn for a check-up next.
Luo Qi snickered and muttered, "It makes me so intoxicated with intelligence that my body doesn't even matter; I just want to live inside a smart brain."
Majiang was rapidly diagnosing the fractures on Du Zhengyi's body and had no time to talk to Luo Qi anymore. Du Zhengyi endured the pain and let out a grunt, "Luo Qi, being smart means knowing when to quit while you're ahead."
"This place is about to be destroyed, and I'll never have the chance to meet my Ghost little friends again, so of course I have to be melancholy for a while," Luo Qi said in a low voice, his tone growing softer, as if speaking to himself. "I don't know if I'll ever have an opportunity like this again."
Guan Xinyue could not keep up with the Mages' train of thought and had no idea what had actually happened here. She shivered and looked around cautiously; the small Fireballs that had been floating and glowing just moments ago were gradually dimming, and the ground and corners of the courtyard were plunged into darkness.
"This place must be burned; burning it is the only way to disinfect it." Luo Qi let out a breath toward the night sky, his fingers groping on the ground until he found a flat spot to brace himself, struggling to pull himself up from the ground. "The smart version of me is going out for a trip."
Guan Xinyue was startled and instinctively reached out to steady the swaying Luo Qi. "Wait, you were just covered in blood; you can't stand up."
Luo Qi pushed her hand away, his body feeling illusory and unsteady. Compared to galloping through the Consciousness World, the human body was truly cumbersome. "Majiang's medical skills are very brilliant."
"Yes, but you... where are you going?" Guan Xinyue no longer knew what to say; she probably still needed to further adapt to the medical standards of Mages and their freakishly robust constitutions.
Du Zhengyi also looked over, saying nothing; perhaps the pain made his eyes look exceptionally dark and heavy, and he was accustomed to silence after a great battle. Luo Qi made a face at him. "Neither of us has the strength to set a fire now, right? The Doctor has also exhausted a great deal of energy."
"What? Why burn..." Majiang asked halfway through before shaking his head. "Forget it, I don't need to know; it's not a good thing anyway."
"Where are you going?" Du Zhengyi asked.
"I remembered that Guan Xinyue bought a courtyard full of diesel," Luo Qi said.
Du Zhengyi suddenly realized, and he explained to Majiang, "We have to burn the eggs."
"Don't say it, I beg you," Majiang said. "I don't want to know what disgusting things you faced, nor do I want to face the cruel fact that the Society is going to be burned down."
"Yeah," Luo Qi said, smiling mockingly, "c'est la vie."
