Chapter 418: Investigation Team (5)
"Du Zhengyi!" Someone in the chaotic crowd shouted his name, though it was unclear who.
He couldn't place the accent; it was likely someone unfamiliar, perhaps even someone he didn't know at all. He smiled slightly. Even though it was clearly Luo Qi's handiwork—and they all knew it—they still came to settle the score with him.
Luo Qi shrank behind him and said, with a transparent attempt at concealment, "I didn't do anything."
"You didn't do anything," Du Zhengyi said, looking back at him. "You just adjusted their physical control capabilities back to the infant stage."
"Ridiculous, doesn't everyone want to be a baby? I helped them become babies!" Luo Qi cunningly defended himself, though he looked hesitantly at the Great Mages who had wet their pants, feeling somewhat lacking in confidence. "Did I do something wrong? I thought that was what you meant..."
"That is exactly what I meant," Du Zhengyi interrupted him.
Luo Qi immediately breathed a sigh of relief and grinned.
"Du Zhengyi!" Another condemnation came from behind them; they always managed to pronounce his name with the tone of a Curse. He found the accent a bit familiar this time; it should be someone from his own combat sequence.
He turned his head to look at the few people standing tall, tightly wrapped in their robes.
"What is it?" Du Zhengyi asked calmly.
"You are resisting the investigation!"
"Me?" Du Zhengyi asked. "When have you ever seen me have such ability? If I really had such ability, I guarantee that ever since we were in the training class, you would have spent your whole life fighting in diapers."
Luo Qi was standing there silently and couldn't help but laugh out loud at the wall.
"You are inciting that minor to refuse to cooperate with the investigation." This time it was his old rival Han Yi speaking. He spoke calmly and was more level-headed than the others, correctly identifying Du Zhengyi's crime.
"You have no evidence to prove we are guilty, and even your evidence-gathering methods are unreliable; I just proved that to you a moment ago. There's no point in continuing this conversation. You set up a Magic Array to antagonize a minor Mind Mage, which is already a violation. Are you planning to huddle together as a group of Great Mages to explore his mind in the Mental World? If this is your plan, you've already seen that it doesn't work. Can a hundred laying hens huddle together to drag an eagle down from the sky? I advise you to come back another day." After finishing, Du Zhengyi turned, pushed Luo Qi's shoulder, and led him deep into the corridor.
"Mind Mages have an obligation to open their barriers and accept investigation," Han Yi said behind him.
Luo Qi looked back at him and, with a thick-skinned expression, acted like a good baby to Du Zhengyi, "He's scaring me, he scared me."
Du Zhengyi didn't speak. The female Battle Mage named Xiang Qian had been watching him closely. He felt her gaze again and couldn't help but turn his head to look at her. He still felt a bit uneasy about people like Battle Mages, so he subconsciously reached out and grabbed Du Zhengyi's sleeve, wanting to remind Du Zhengyi to be careful.
As it turned out, this action might have looked very childish. The female Mage's gaze fell on his hand clutching his brother's sleeve, and her expression changed slightly. She hesitated and blocked Han Yi, saying, "Forget it, you can see he really is very young; we can't push a child too hard. I suggest the Mind Mages re-evaluate the situation. From what just happened, he is definitely a Mind Archmage on the level of Pei Shu. Damn it, and he's still so young. The puberty of a normal brat is annoying enough, let alone this kind of high-energy baby. I really had the worst luck to take this job. Du Zhengyi is right; we spend all year dealing with high-energy babies, and according to experience, don't push a baby until it bites. If this baby enters an emergency response, he might eat the brain of the Mind Mage attacking him."
Luo Qi didn't know whether to choose anger or gratitude, so he finally shook his brother's arm in frustration.
"What? Did Du Zhengyi find himself a battle pet?" a familiar voice said gruffly.
Luo Qi let out an "Ah," and Du Zhengyi looked over at him, seeing an expression of sudden realization on his face.
"I know you!" Luo Qi said, startled.
"Shut up," Du Zhengyi whispered to stop him, but he immediately realized that even if Chi Yu was slow-witted, he must have figured out that Luo Qi was the one who teased him at the Street Office that day.
"Look at this," Luo Qi said suddenly, raising his right hand high and snapping his fingers twice in quick succession.
Chi Yu guardedly focused on his fingers immediately, not knowing what trick he was going to pull. Who would have thought he shouldn't have paid attention to Luo Qi's hand; Luo Qi was not like all the other Great Mages, he had always been more like a human magician.
If faced with the conventional and flashy distraction methods often used by those mages, a well-trained Battle Mage like Chi Yu would have had a conditioned reflex to handle it. But Luo Qi gently and plainly told him to look, so he looked over. Who would have thought that in this moment of distraction, hallucinations would come flooding in.
It wasn't some terrifying hallucination, nor was it a probe of his brain, nor was it an attempt to enter his brain to twist his neural nerves. Because it could be roughly classified as harmless, he had never received training to deal with this kind of thing.
Regardless, he never imagined that what he saw were a few... well, they couldn't be counted as peerless beauties, but they were indeed somewhat familiar and unusually pleasing to the eye. In short, these beauties were exceptionally charming and cute, plus they were acting coquettish, and on top of that, they weren't wearing any clothes. Some were heading toward him, some were interacting in pairs...
Afterward, he realized these were all tricks; that little brat must have had a large collection of films, but at that moment...
His face was crimson, his breathing was unsteady, his pulse quickened, and the front hem of his robe was pushed up.
If he were a human, perhaps only a few very sensitive people would realize what was happening. But this was a circle of top Great Mages, a circle of top Battle Mages, all basically the same model as Du Zhengyi, so the pulses, breathing rates, and perhaps even the degree of pheromone secretion of those around them could not escape their sharp eyes. To them, noticing this was like an ordinary person noticing the height, gender, or hair color of those around them.
Du Zhengyi let out a sneer, and two Battle Mages looked at Chi Yu with obvious disgust. The gorilla's face turned black and red, and he looked toward Luo Qi in a rage; this was the second time he had fallen into Luo Qi's hands.
Luo Qi grinned at him, but unfortunately, before he could finish his curtain call and make a statement, he was rudely dragged away by Du Zhengyi.
