In the small room assigned at the Highland Mage encampment, candle flames burned quietly, twice as many as before. Luo Qi remained under the confinement of Du Zhengyi; even though he said he would not go out, it was of no use, so he simply stopped struggling and learned from Du Zhengyi how to summon Highland Mage candles. He practiced for a while and became a bit addicted, finally gradually discovering the joy of being a mage, until Du Zhengyi said the oxygen in the room was damn near running out, at which point he stopped.

Although Du Zhengyi guarded him strictly, Luo Qi actually did not want to go out to track his unreliable sixth sense; weighing it up, doing so had no great value, not to mention he had been having a run of bad luck lately and couldn't afford to be tossed about without a rest.

I don't know if the bad luck had transferred to Du Zhengyi, but the Investigation Team did not delay for a few days to formulate a plan as he had hoped. Before the night was even over, Zhou Quan came to knock on their door.

It was Luo Qi who went to open the door, blocking the entrance and leaving only a crack for Zhou Quan.

Zhou Quan smiled apologetically at him, but his mouth didn't rest, eagerly and condescendingly asking kindly into the door crack, "Where is your superior?"

"Go to hell," Luo Qi said.

Zhou Quan laughed, "Can we have a bit of a serious adult attitude? Or are you two doing something~" He peered sneakily into the door crack, vaguely seeing Du Zhengyi flipping through a book on the bed, not even lifting his head toward him.

"You don't deserve treatment better than a door crack," Luo Qi said. "If you have something to say, spit it out; if not, get lost."

"Haha, I have something; I was sent here. If I didn't, how would I dare knock on your door at this hour... disturbing your beauty sleep..." Zhou Quan said.

"You idiot," Luo Qi said. "Stop trying to probe whether I'm a man or a woman; are you sick? My file is sitting right there in Qionglin; have you suddenly become brain-damaged and can't read?"

Zhou Quan said seriously, "Your dad could even hide the fact that you're a Mind Archmage, such a big deal; who knows how much else in your file is fake? What if your official gender and age are both fake?"

"What are you saying? That my dad intentionally wrote it wrong so I would go to the men's room and live with men for all these years? Your dad is the one who's mentally ill!" Luo Qi said angrily.

Du Zhengyi suddenly stood up, walked over, pulled Luo Qi aside, and yanked the door wide open. "Is that what the Investigation Team means?"

Zhou Quan looked into his eyes and nodded. "If it can be proven that the age is fake, then certain special methods can be used for interrogation. Of course, wanting to prove that every sentence in the file is true will certainly be a long, long, long interrogation process."

Luo Qi finally understood; Zhou Quan was feeding them information. "Where is my dad? I've always wanted to ask, does anyone know his whereabouts?"

Zhou Quan shook his head. "And your mom. Luo Qi, you might be an innocent little angel, but your parents cannot escape their crimes."

"They didn't do anything harmful to others..." Luo Qi muttered, but he knew the answer; he understood the Mage World too well.

Zhou Quan mechanically recited words he wasn't very willing to say, "Every mage does not belong to their family; every mage is a precious asset of the Mage World, blah blah blah. In short, by human standards, your parents committed the crime of embezzling state assets."

Luo Qi couldn't help but laugh, turning his head to glance at Du Zhengyi. Well, if one day he took Du Zhengyi away from Qionglin, it might not count as a major crime; after all, Du Zhengyi was already a discarded part of Qionglin.

Zhou Quan took a step forward, squeezed into their room, closed the door behind him, turned around, and continued with a grin, "The Investigation Team has changed its approach and decided to fight a war of attrition. Zhou Quan laughed. "This is the main point; Qionglin has changed to a qualified Investigation Team leader. He thought for a moment and added, "Now!"
