Chapter 442: Laboratory Girl (4)
"What?" Liu Ziyi frowned and shouted, as if she had been gravely insulted. "Why do I have to wait here? Just because I'm a girl, I have to wait? Regardless of anything else, I was the one who discovered the thing below!"
Luo Qi was stunned for a moment; now he understood why Guan Xinyue and Liu Ziyi had hit it off immediately—the two of them must have illuminated each other like two xenon headlights in the Chaos. "I... I'm not doing this because you're a girl..." Luo Qi thought for a moment, summarizing his words. "Aren't you a laboratory Mage? If you could do field work, what would they need Battle Mages for? Although I'm not a Battle Mage, I should at least be better than you, right? If something really happens on the level below, I'd have to worry about you while I'm running back. May I ask, if that thing perceives my Telepathy as a hostile act, can you hack it to death with one strike like Du Zhengyi?"
Liu Ziyi bit her lip, looking somewhat discouraged.
Luo Qi watched her, feeling troubled. The mere thought of Du Zhengyi's junior sister ending up like her senior brother in the hands of Clownfish made him panic; he couldn't bear to watch a repeat of what happened to Du Zhengyi back then. Fortunately, Liu Ziyi was among the smartest type of Mages; only smart people would admit their mistakes without any nonsense or struggle.
She nodded.
"Good," Luo Qi breathed a sigh of relief, "wait for me here. Once I find the Teleportation Point, it will take ten minutes at most. If I haven't returned in ten minutes, you will go back up and find whoever you need to find."
"Ten minutes?" Liu Ziyi pondered for a moment, "Isn't that too fast?"
Luo Qi did not answer her. She perhaps could not understand that for a Mind Mage, ten minutes was already a very long time. A day could be longer than a lifetime.
"If I could run as fast as Du Zhengyi, I would only need five minutes," Luo Qi said gloomily.
Liu Ziyi made a sharp sound. She tilted her head to look at Luo Qi, her eyes filled with a touch of affection. "I don't think your legs are short." Luo Qi suddenly raised his head, so angry he could have jumped to the rafters. "I was talking about the ability of Teleportation! Not about height advantage! Only humans rely on their legs to run!"
"Oh," Liu Ziyi said embarrassedly, suddenly realizing.
Luo Qi angrily snatched the Radiation Monitor from her hand. This thing was more useful now than a Mage's crystal; the stuff Mages used wasn't as terrifying as Radiation. Being struck to death by Lightning Technique was at least quick. Mages didn't have such malicious things; the Curse had always been a superstition in the Magic World, and many Mages disdained it. But if Liu Ziyi was right—damn it, Liu Ziyi was very likely right—then it was no wonder the Curse was a superstition in the Magic World, because this was a lethal attack that simply shouldn't exist in the Magic World.
He was completely confused. What exactly was going on with the Ancestor Mages? Had they developed Magic to the point of creating nuclear explosions? As he walked toward the Teleportation Point, he briefly pondered this possibility, feeling that he simply couldn't comprehend it, but a vague guess lingered at the edge of his mind; unfortunately, he couldn't grasp it yet. He was too nervous and didn't want to think too much. His greatest hope now was to find Clownfish and tell him that what was buried here was his ancestor's Chernobyl nuclear power plant, so he should stop digging like a damn fool.
