Chapter 24: Marvel: Awakening the Cosmo at the Start, Chapter 12

~5 min read 877 words

Hawk did not forget; taking advantage of the night, he ran to his hidden stash and moved all the spoils that belonged to him—those five Chitauri weapons—back with him.

He wrapped them in the bedsheets that came with his apartment bedroom and tossed them under the bed.

Waiting until evening.

Hawk, just like at his previous apartment, bought a burger and a cola downstairs, then followed the fire escape up to the roof of his new apartment. After looking around, he found a relatively clean spot and sat down on the ground.

He ate the burger in his hand while watching the stars hanging above his head.

As a few stars flickered in the night sky, the stars within Hawk’s Cosmo flickered as well.

Hawk had already decided which Bronze constellation he would light up first.

Not Pegasus.

Not Cygnus.

And not Dragon.

But rather—

Phoenix!

A constellation is not only a vessel for a Saint’s power, but also a brand of inheritance.

Once a Saint who has awakened their Cosmo possesses their own constellation, they can inherit the attributes of that constellation.

And in Hawk’s view, among the forty-eight Bronze constellations, no constellation’s attributes could compare to those of the Phoenix.

Because the Phoenix possesses an attribute that even the twelve Zodiac constellations do not have.

The Phoenix does not die; it only undergoes rebirth.

If the core of the Dragon constellation is "the Dragon's rigidity" and "the Dragon's protection," then the core of the Phoenix constellation is "immortality" and "rebirth."

Bad news.

Because of the Phoenix constellation’s bug-like core, the conditions to become a Phoenix Saint are too harsh.

In his memories, from the first Holy War, in the organization of the eighty-eight constellations planned by Athena, the Phoenix constellation had never appeared until it finally emerged in the SS arc.

Good news.

This is not the Saint Seiya universe; therefore, the Phoenix constellation here is not as aloof as the one in the Saint Seiya universe.

As long as he lights up the star map of the Phoenix in his Cosmo the previous second, he can obtain the core of the Phoenix the very next second.

The Phoenix does not die; it only undergoes rebirth.

His life force would reach a terrifying level; even if he were truly killed by someone, he would not actually die. As long as the Phoenix constellation remained, he would still be reborn from the ashes and return through fire.

So...

Therefore, Hawk would have to be crazy to pass up lighting the Phoenix star map just to go light up another constellation.

After all, his original intention had never changed.

To survive; if possible, to live comfortably, and to live for a long time.

Thus, after confirming which constellation he would light up first, Hawk did not hesitate. He mobilized the twelve stars in his Cosmo—which he had lit by killing Chitauri—and began to construct his Phoenix star map within his Cosmo according to the pattern of the Phoenix constellation.

The Phoenix constellation is constructed from one second-magnitude star, two third-magnitude stars, and six fourth-magnitude stars.

The stars Hawk had lit in his Cosmo by killing Chitauri soldiers were the smallest fourth-magnitude stars.

Two fourth-magnitude stars combine into one third-magnitude star, and two third-magnitude stars combine into one second-magnitude star.

So...

"Two more to go."

"Not bad."

"Beautiful."

Hawk smiled as he drank his beverage, looking at the Phoenix star map above his Cosmo that was already lit, needing only two more stars to be completely constructed.

Just then.

The phantoms of the remaining forty-seven Bronze constellations flickered in his Cosmo.

For some reason.

Hawk suddenly felt a resentful accusation coming from the other forty-seven Bronze constellations.

But amidst the accusations of these forty-seven voices, he also heard the cry of a phoenix, and following this phoenix cry, the flickering accusations of the forty-seven Bronze constellations vanished.

Uh...

Hawk blinked, looking at the Phoenix star map above his Cosmo.

The Phoenix constellation, more than half-lit, hung in the sky like a truly arrogant phoenix, looking down upon the other forty-seven Bronze constellations.

Clearly.

As Hawk’s first choice, the proud Phoenix constellation was even prouder now in the face of the other forty-seven Bronze constellations.

Look at that.

The Phoenix constellation is the most badass!

Hawk’s mouth twitched. After thinking for a moment, he didn't linger; he left his Cosmo directly and returned to his new apartment via the fire escape.

A while later.

Lying on the bed, Hawk, while not yet asleep, closed his eyes and pondered the matter of the Cloth again.

Lighting the Phoenix constellation could allow him to obtain the Phoenix’s core of immortality.

And forging the Phoenix Cloth and wearing it would allow him to obtain the constellation’s exclusive powers and skills.

For example...

The Phoenix Illusion Demon Fist, which can shatter an enemy’s mind rather than their body.

A mental strike that can directly invade an enemy’s mental world and tear their spirit to pieces with his own powerful mental strength.

And one more.

That is the ultimate move, the exclusive secret technique unique to the Phoenix constellation: transforming into a phoenix and unleashing a powerful scorching airflow like a phoenix spreading its wings, possessing the power to destroy everything.

Phoenix's Flapping Wings!
