Chapter 7: A Punch Shatters the Sky of Niuyuecheng
Hawk stared, stunned, as the sky above Manhadundao was torn open, revealing the infinitely pitch-black firmament.
Above Manhadundao, a deep blue light shot into the sky, continuously lashing into the gap in the firmament, as if opening a space.
The space opened above was like being crudely ripped apart by an invisible hand, its edges flickering with deep blue light and crackling.
Hawk subconsciously cast his gaze onto his right hand.
But...
The next second.
He realized.
No.
This firmament was not torn by him, but by the Space Stone.
2012.
The Chitauri invasion!
Hawk’s mind stirred as he thought of the current timeline, and with a swish, his gaze fell back upon the torn firmament.
Sure enough.
As the space portal opened above Manhadundao, Chitauri soldiers, like a swarm of metal locusts, poured out through the portal as if being dumped.
Suddenly gushing out!
The Chitauri soldiers arriving on Earth from the space portal rode streamlined, cold-gleaming individual aircraft, their engines emitting a teeth-grinding, sharp hum, their non-human bodies tightly wrapped in dark alloy shells.
Boom!
As the first Chitauri soldier pulled the trigger on their energy weapon, the glass curtain wall of a Manhadundao skyscraper was instantly pierced and then shattered.
"Wala!"
"Attack!"
"Invasion, invasion!"
"Kill them!"
The swarming Chitauri soldiers let out excited hisses, and after pouring out of the wormhole, they quickly determined their respective tasks.
Some Chitauri soldiers lowered their aircraft and flew toward the streets of Manhadundao.
Others raised their aircraft, and after confirming their attack direction in the air, streaked toward the direction of Brooklyn.
Of course.
Queens was also within the attack range of the Chitauri soldiers.
"Holy shit!"
"What is that?"
"Aliens invading Earth?"
"They’re coming toward us!"
"Hiss!"
"God!"
"Run!"
"Ah!"
Just like Manhadundao, which had descended into total chaos, the residents of Queens let out shrill screams upon seeing the Chitauri, who were firing energy weapons toward them, wantonly piercing skyscrapers, setting cars ablaze, and even killing civilians, as they fled in whatever direction they deemed safe.
The strange shrieks of the Chitauri soldiers.
The sound of skyscrapers shattering.
The scorching sound of cars being blown up by fire.
The wails of murdered civilians and the shouts of those fleeing in panic—at this moment, the entire Niuyuecheng was plunged into immense panic.
Standing on the rooftop, Hawk subconsciously turned to head back into his apartment.
But...
The moment he turned, he stopped abruptly, as if thinking of something, and then turned back again to look at the sky, at the Chitauri soldiers currently whistling toward Queens like a plague of locusts.
