Chapter 261: Meteor Hum Beam!

The Blue Crystal is a crystal formed from the soul of one of the three princes of Almia; it is a miraculous, mythical mineral. Even a mere fragment of the Blue Crystal itself can erupt with unprecedented brilliance under the amplification of psychic power.

Controlled by the ancient spirit, Volcarona flapped its wings, scattering endless sparks of scale powder in every direction. The Plasma grunt fodder who had entered with Yorgos were nearly terrified out of their wits at this sight; they hid behind pillars, and some even fled outright.

Fiery Dance! Covers the body in flames and attacks the opponent by flapping wings. Sometimes raises the user's Special Attack!

The dance Volcarona leaped into was the Sun Dance of the ancient era. Powerful energy was unleashed wantonly, and endless flames erupted within the Spirit Chamber! Aegislash did not show weakness; it set up its massive shield, maintaining the posture of a king, and used its golden great shield to push the flames directly back!

Head Smash! The King's Shield transformed into a rock-like texture, charging toward Volcarona with an unstoppable, oppressive posture!

Whoosh—

Volcarona flew directly into the sky. Aegislash's "Shield Bash" missed it, instead knocking Yorgos, who was behind it, flying.

But the old sage, controlled by the ancient spirit, had long since lost consciousness. The ancient spirit controlling that body felt neither fear nor pain. Facing an ancient spirit possessing such overwhelming energy, even the knowledge of the two heroes was difficult to put into effect.

Whoosh—

It was the sound of light bullets tearing through the sky again. Riolu's Aura Sphere, Lilligant's Solar Blade, and Torterra's Seed Bomb attacked the Volcarona in the sky from three directions simultaneously!

And Xiang Guangtai also pulled out his Magic Branch.

Power of Pinwheel Forest. Strike down the Volcarona flying in the sky!

"Don't let those moves get close! Protect!"

Yorgos waved his hand. The light gushing from his eyes made Xiang Guangtai feel that after this battle, the old sage's eyes would likely be blind. A pale green, powerful light shield expanded in front of Volcarona; the size of that light shield was extraordinary!

The four attacks hit the light shield without even stirring a ripple. The ancient spirit had greatly enhanced Volcarona's power!

Power of Pinwheel Forest?

The power of an ancient forest is indeed strong, but when facing the power of a civilization capable of changing the world, the power of a single forest is but a drop in the bucket!

Standing before you now is the Pokémon that sheltered an entire civilization and was worshipped as the incarnation of the sun!

Regarding Volcarona's current momentum, Landorus, at Xiang Guangtai's waist, made an assessment.

Hmph, even if it were to take the field, it would probably get slapped twice; that ancient spiritual power is too strong!

Volcarona's eyes lit up with an eerie radiance. A massive amount of invisible, intangible power bombarded in all directions, encompassing all of Xiang Guangtai's Pokémon, including the trainer!

"Bug Buzz!"

A Bug-type Pokémon emits an invisible shockwave to resist and attack the opponent. Lowers the opponent's Special Attack!

The continuously fired Bug Buzzes attempted to whittle the Special Attack of Xiang Guangtai's Pokémon down to the lowest point, however...!

The knowledge from the two heroes was activated at this moment!

Temporarily immune to the intrusion of negative status effects; although the negative status effect itself would still take effect, it was simultaneously difficult to fall into an abnormal state!

Although the ability had decreased, it was immune to the substantive content of the decrease, so whether it had decreased or not was as if it hadn't!

Torterra seized the opportunity and let out a roar. The tree on its back shook, and massive dust surged from the entire ground!

Sand Tomb!

This intense sandstorm attempted to drag Volcarona down from mid-air, however, an illegal event occurred immediately. Volcarona flapped its wings violently, and the Sand Tomb that had trapped it began to burn fiercely, turning into a tornado of flames!

Sand Tomb → Fire Spin!

That wild, scorching vortex was turned to its own use by Volcarona and pushed back in reverse!

And the ancient sage let out a terrifying whisper:

"Facing quicksand and sandstorms, do we not have a method to break them? Naive!"

Turtle was greatly shocked, not expecting such a thing to happen. It hurriedly recorded it in its heart and planned to put it to use in some future battle. However, for now, because Volcarona had made the lighting here intense, light-based moves did not need to be charged!

Solar Beam!

A fierce solar flame blasted out from the tree on Torterra's back, impacting the Fire Spin and blocking the advance of that terrifying fire tornado. At the same time, Aegislash's Flash Cannon also topped it, shattering the Fire Spin!

But the explosive high temperature had already caused the sand here to crystallize. The moment the Fire Spin burst and scattered, Volcarona flapped its wings and used a massive Heat Wave that swept through the entire dungeon!

Heat Wave, blows a hot breath at the opponent to attack. Sometimes causes the opponent to fall into a burn state!

It wasn't over yet; following behind the Heat Wave was—

Hurricane!

Attacks the opponent with a strong wind. Sometimes causes the opponent to become confused!

Although the accuracy of Hurricane would decrease in sunny weather, however... as long as the range of the Hurricane was expanded to the entire room, it would never miss!

Everything in this room was also strengthened under the protection of the ancient spirit. Sturdy ancient pillars stood towering, vibrant pottery emitted bright light, and the murals behind seemed to come alive, beginning to twist and tremble. The two storms overlapped and added together, giving birth to an unimaginable move!

Fire Storm!

Aegislash still acted as the defender. The King's Shield opened, and the golden great shield absorbed all the attacks and impact force coming from the front!

However, Xiang Guangtai noticed that the spiritual power here was gradually becoming concentrated, and Yorgos, who was being controlled opposite, did not speak again. Its eyes were still burning with an unextinguished holy light, but the powerful spiritual power had connected its mind with Volcarona's mind!

Just as he had connected his mind with his Pokémon, the ancient spirit opposite was manipulating Volcarona in the same way! Not speaking omitted the reaction time, and the Pokémon could also observe the surrounding movements through the trainer's perspective. Power was rising, and actions would become more agile!

And Yorgos just gently waved the glowing disc in his hand.

An incredibly powerful psychic power surged from Volcarona's body.

Calm Mind, quiets the mind and spirit, thereby raising its Special Attack and Special Defense.

Usually, Calm Mind can only raise Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage, but under the amplification of the ancient spirit, just by using Calm Mind once, Volcarona's Special Attack reached its maximum; the effect of ability enhancement appeared on its body six times in a row!

"Ah, it's over, Lord Yorgos has gone crazy!"

Among the Plasma grunts, there were still those who were clear-headed amidst such a powerful attack. They watched Yorgos, who had completely become a different person, with trepidation, their hearts filled with terror and regret. The power of this Volcarona was so immense that it was simply not something they could control!

If they were to truly carry out a capture, at least... they would need all seven Sages to be present!

Similarly, Xiang Guangtai, who could battle the abnormal Yorgos at this time, also made these Plasma grunts feel terrified in their hearts. Although they didn't know who the person in front of them was, being able to battle such a powerful Pokémon was simply not human!

If they were to liberate the Pokémon of such a person, they would probably really be beaten to death; this was a thought that occurred to them simultaneously.

Xiang Guangtai had no time to worry about those Plasma grunts. At this time, behind the crazed Volcarona, near the distant mural, Xiang Guangtai saw a head sneakily poking out.

Ah, it's Larvesta!

If he confirmed that Larvesta was fine, then the next battle...!

"Urr!"

Volcarona let out a terrifying angry roar. Its six wings lit up with scorching firelight simultaneously.

Flamethrower x6!

Then, in front of its main body, it condensed a brilliant, incomparably scorching holy fire!

Fire Blast!

The moves blasted out from seven directions were completely without dead ends! The ancient spirits were excited, roaring, hissing, and angry! They wanted to use this powerful flame power, use this incomparably scorching sunlight, to destroy all the unwelcome guys who had entered the Ancient City!

That great figure flying everywhere while scattering flame scale powder was fearfully called the Sun's Wrath by the ancient people!

Lilligant attempted to use Rain Dance, but the move could not be used. The scorching high temperature here formed an environment similar to Desolate Sunlight, and the use of Water-type moves failed directly!

Aegislash continued to hold up the King's Shield, and at this time, Riolu seemed to have realized something!

Its Star Aura was rapidly increasing in power!

When the opponent has an ability enhancement effect, it deals 50% more damage, which is to say, 1.5 times! And in different environments, it would strengthen specific auras. What Riolu felt from Landorus's battle, and what it felt now, was...

Under the obstruction of the King's Shield, Riolu began to condense power. Orange-yellow light gathered in its hands, and then erupted forward!

Terrain Pulse!

Uses the power of the field to attack. Depending on the state of the field when the move is used, the attribute and power of the move will change! Although named Terrain, it is actually a Normal-type move.

The orange-yellow light hit Volcarona, but it didn't have much effect. Its flames only paused for a moment, and then it scattered countless sparks of scale powder in mid-air with an even more furious posture!

This time, the firelight surging on the six wings was even more fierce!

"Woo." The Blue Puppy looked at the flying Volcarona with unwillingness. It didn't expect that the new move it had just realized was actually useless. And Xiang Guangtai was somewhat surprised; Terrain Pulse should be a skill that only Lucario could learn... had it learned it in advance?

Aegislash withdrew its shield. It swung its ribbon arm and smashed forward suddenly!

Rock Slide! Creates countless giant rocks out of thin air to attack the opponent! As long as this hit...!

But the ancient spirit had long anticipated this situation. The ultra-high temperature turned all the rushing rocks into scorching liquid. The 1500-degree high temperature that instantly burned and melted the rocks caused all the flying stones to melt away, leaving only shining crystals.

Aegislash flew up!

Protected by Arceus, it possessed a steel body that did not fear fire. At this time, the sword edge flashed with light, and the ghost-colored Sacred Sword slashed out sharply and straight!

Sacred Sword · Continuous Slash!

However, Volcarona shook its wings, and a storm carrying eerie power stopped Aegislash directly in the air, and then it turned into a red light and was shaken back into the Poké Ball!

Whirlwind!

Blows away the opponent, forcing a reserve Pokémon to take the field. If the opponent is a wild Pokémon, the battle will end directly!

Aegislash was blown back into the Poké Ball and lost the ability to take the field temporarily. And after the ancient spirit solved the monster that was Aegislash, which combined offense and defense, it immediately seized this opportunity!

Heat Wave + Hurricane, the two violent storms came again like a great wave vortex, turning into a Fire Storm!

However, taking the field in place of Aegislash was—

Brilliant light turned into a shield, blocking the Fire Storm emitted by Volcarona. Psychic power from the universe, completely different from the ancient spirit, appeared at this time. And what surprised Xiang Guangtai was that although Deoxys had taken the field, there was still a Poké Ball on its chest.

Eh, is it Landorus?!

"Ladon!"

Landorus was very curious about Deoxys, the Pokémon born from a meteorite, just as a planet has ground, large meteorites still have cosmic soil, only that soil is not rich in nutrients.

And in their mutual communication, Deoxys vaguely felt that its core had become very active, gradually emitting powerful ripples of power. Under the influence of Landorus, it seemed that a power was preparing to erupt.

Power from the universe, combined with power from the ground!

Therefore, Landorus agreed to help Deoxys stimulate that powerful power! It also wanted to see what kind of abilities a Pokémon from the universe would master!

Ground? Rock? Steel?

Which one is it? Let's try it now!

Oh, brother, let us perform a com-bi-na-tion!

Landorus stimulated the divine power of the earth, activated Deoxys's crystal core, and this glorious warrior was wrapped in powerful light in an instant, connecting to the starry sky of the universe through the small tree connected on Torterra's back!

Through telepathy, Xiang Guangtai ordered Lilligant to use the power of dreams to strengthen Torterra's ability, and all the star power Torterra received from outside the ancient city was poured into Deoxys.

"... What is that? Don't care, Fiery Dance!"

The ancient spirits possessing Yorgos could not see the Pokémon in the strong light!

And Volcarona obeyed the ancient spirit's command, leaping into the Fire Dance representing the sun again!

Fierce flames spread to the entire Spirit Chamber again. The powerful ancient spirit turned into a tsunami, wanting to extinguish the cosmic spirit in front of it immediately!

At this time, Riolu's aura took effect. The power from the cosmic starry sky made Riolu suddenly perceive something. The aura of the earth produced Terrain Pulse, and the power from the universe was...

Meteor!

"Awoo!"

Riolu's Star Aura linked with the universe!

And Deoxys was the same. It looked at Xiang Guangtai, and then at the Blue Puppy. Telepathy allowed everyone to communicate without words, knowing what to do next!

Then, I'll leave it to you, Riolu!

Powerful blue-purple starlight erupted from the Blue Puppy's claws!

The meaning represented by Meteor is, Dragon-type!

"Riolu realized 'Dragon Pulse' on its own!"

Two beams of different colored cosmic light surged from its claws, and then these beams combined into a huge, multi-colored dragon-shaped energy, biting at the opponent with its lower jaw, while simultaneously causing a huge explosion!

Among Pokémon, there is a move called Nature Power, which uses the power of nature to fight. Depending on the place where the move is used, the move used will also change, and the manifestation of this move in the universe is exactly the most powerful Dragon-type move, Draco Meteor!

The universe is the hunting ground of giant dragons, and also the hometown of giant dragons!

Dragon Pulse collided with the surging tide of flames, and the violent flames squeezed the power of Dragon Pulse. At this moment, at this instant, Deoxys's charging was completed.

Powerful cosmic fluctuations and light overflowed from its body, forming a halo. Special Attack increased by one stage, and then—

Deoxys absorbed the "Life Droplet" item obtained from Xiang Guangtai. The moment it was immune to the flame impact, it made its hands into a cross shape, just like Xiang Guangtai had told it before, and performed that particularly cool action!

"【Deoxys】 overflowed with cosmic power!"

Stimulated by Landorus, and then the scorching pulsation sensed from the cosmic meteorite, the true face of that power, the new move born from it is—

Meteor Beam!

Gathers cosmic power to raise Special Attack, and then fiercely attacks the opponent!

The explosive cosmic beam was fired from Deoxys's arm, swiftly bombarding Volcarona's body through the gaps in the Fire Storm!

The powerful Sun God was defeated under the attack of cosmic power. This finishing beam knocked it down from the sky, and those endless ancient spirits were also hit hard!

The tide began to recede. The ancient spirit was defeated. Having lost Volcarona as a carrier, the ancient spirit unwillingly controlled Yorgos, waving the disc in his hand, as if wanting to change the target, or perhaps intending to launch a real-life brawl against Xiang Guangtai!

"Mera!"

Larvesta, who had been hiding in the back for a long time, finally caught the opportunity!

Eeya! Can't beat Volcarona, can't I beat you!

Flame Charge?

No!

Watch my Flare Blitz learned from Entei!

This old sage was knocked unconscious on the spot by Larvesta's full-force collision, and the disc in his hand also fell to the ground!

"Mera! (My attack is very effective!)" Larvesta's eyes were sparkling, and it crawled over Yorgos's forehead with its head held high.

But the disc still emitted strong light unwillingly. The disc floated up, seemingly wanting to seize Xiang Guangtai's body as a new guardian, but at this moment, the light of the Blue Crystal pendant blocked the disc's advance.

Along with another pendant, the Miracle Diamond also suddenly erupted with a beam of light!

Enough is enough!

The ancient spiritual power began to shrink back. Xiang Guangtai took the opportunity to pick up Larvesta to prevent the disc from doing anything radical again. And under the influence of the two pendants, the violent ancient spirit seemed to finally understand that the unwelcome guys who had invaded the Ancient City had been defeated, and the person in front of them had been summoned by them.

That invisible spiritual power condensed into a solid, scorching sun as brilliant as the sun, using the meditation disc as a carrier, hanging high in the Spirit Chamber. Endless emotions were transmitted from that sunlight—joy, sadness, anger, happiness. The spirits of the ancients became solid in this city, turning into an invisible, huge source of scorching power.

Come.

That sun spirit whispered and called, indicating that Xiang Guangtai had passed their test, and had successfully calmed them down. And as the summoned one, Xiang Guangtai was about to shoulder an important mission...

"Important mission? You don't want to say things like reviving the Ancient City... It's been thousands of years, the people of the Ancient City have long since spread across Unova, and here there are only ruins left."

Xiang Guangtai gave a preventive shot in advance, and the ancient spirit seemed to hesitate because of this, but soon denied it.

Reviving or whatever, it was already a pipe dream. From the moment the Ancient City fell into ruin, a long time had passed, and they naturally knew this too.

However, although the city was destroyed, the ancient will contained here could not be tarnished because of this; it must have a suitable place to go.

We once existed, and what buried us was time, not anything else.

So there must be an "Ancient King"!
