Chapter 262: The Last Sun King

The ancient spirits had a very high opinion of Xiang Guangtai.

He had come all the way here, overcoming thorns and thistles, and possessed incredible great power. That power seemed not only to come from the universe, but also had the familiar fluctuations of the Connected Tree.

The ancient spirits could not recognize Arceus's power, but they could feel the greatness of this power, so no extra words were needed; they believed Xiang Guangtai was the most suitable person to entrust the will of the Ancient City to.

"King of the Ancient City?"

【"That's right... it's you, and only you can."】

The ancient spirits whispered, circling Xiang Guangtai, and without knowing when, Yorgos and those Plasma grunts had all disappeared. Xiang Guangtai was surprised, and the ancient spirits indicated that this was their doing!

The birth of a king does not need the witness of those with ulterior motives. Excluding them completely from this sacred room was the best choice!

But Xiang Guangtai was somewhat disappointed.

He had originally planned to use Mind Crush on Yorgos, to let his dark side explode directly and bury some hidden dangers for Team Plasma. Now there was no way.

"Give—ugh!"

Aegislash opened the Poké Ball itself and ran out. It was quite unhappy; that strange power just now had actually bounced itself back into the Poké Ball and locked its actions!

These so-called ancient spirits were too much!

【"The exotic sword that follows the king, indeed you possess this qualification..."】

【"The crystal on your body also witnessed all this... that crystal is not an ordinary object."】

The ancient spirits whispered. After seeing Aegislash's existence clearly, they had an even higher opinion of Xiang Guangtai. Obviously, they seemed to know what happened before the ancient times, but thinking carefully, the ultimate weapon manufactured 3,000 years ago in Kalos might have also had some influence on Unova.

Because the Ancient City was exactly a city that existed 3,500 to 2,500 years ago.

And the Blue Crystal on Xiang Guangtai's body, the image of the blue-haired prince shown before, also made the ancient spirits confirm that it was the remnant of an ancient spirit from a country in another region. Being able to get the recognition of such power already explained everything!

Precisely because of this, you are the qualified person!

"Then what is the price?"

Xiang Guangtai asked this sentence on a whim. Although he had calmed the anger of the ancient spirits, this did not mean that accepting their gift did not require conditions. Since it was not reviving the ancient city, then what was needed?

And at this time, Xiang Guangtai perceived the sadness coming from the sun spirit.

That incredible aura, incredible power, and a little joy mixed in the sadness.

"I understand, you don't want the world to forget your existence, so you need an agent to wield your power, so that your story continues to spread in people's mouths."

"That might allow people to help clean up here regularly, and turn this place into a special scenic spot. In that case, at least it won't be forgotten by time."

In Black 2 and White 2, this place had already been half-buried by sand, and the Desert Resort was located in the desert. The overwhelming sandstorms made it normal for this place to sink, so much so that the psychics who came here all sighed and lamented, and just staying here would make one feel sorrowful and accuse time of cruelty.

【"The decision is yours... perhaps this is also good, although we don't understand what that is... but as long as we can resist the passage of time..."】

The ancient spirits responded to Xiang Guangtai's proposal. They didn't quite understand what a scenic spot meant, but it sounded pretty good.

It's just that what could be good to look at in the desert?

"No, the tickets for exploring the ruins will definitely be worth the price, and it will also attract many people interested in adventure. There are many treasures buried in the depths of this city, right?"

"No, I don't mean to take those treasures away, but you can let the guards occasionally throw some treasures on the upper levels. This way, after the adventurers discover the treasure, it will attract more tourists, and subsequent tourists, even if they don't get the treasure, will be very happy after visiting the historic sites."

"The vast desert, the buried ancient castle, the unknown treasure legends, this way your story can continue to spread, and it can also attract more special people like psychics to come here to pay tribute. Facing the ruins, relics, and heritage, sighing at the people and things of the past."

"By the way, is the Dragon Stone here too?"

Xiang Guangtai asked about the Dragon Stone. The ancient spirits gave an affirmative answer, however:

【"Through foreseeing the future, we know some things... The stone is prepared for the hero. You are not yet a true hero. Although you have obtained the stone's recognition, the stone wants to ask you..."】

The ancient spirits began to pass the message:

【"Do you intend to shoulder the hero's responsibility? Do you want to take it away from Unova?"】

【"The stone seems to have seen some scenes. Originally it was very firm, but now it has become hesitant..."】

Xiang Guangtai indicated that this didn't matter.

Anyway, in the dream, the Light Stone and Dark Stone were still acting as fire sources and power sources. In reality, it seems the stones also have their own ideas, and letting himself shoulder the mission of Unova... to break through the entire Unova within ten days, it's not very realistic.

He indeed had other things to do, so, just acknowledging it in the dream is not bad. It is estimated that the Dragon Stone wants to find helpers for the heroes at critical moments.

Or was it because when he went to Aspertia City before, he let the Dragon Stones see the heroes they were originally supposed to choose, and thus were attracted?

Or was it because he saw the Arceus incident in the dream, and thus hesitated?

These are all possible.

Xiang Guangtai did not force such things.

"It doesn't matter, the hero in the dream is also a hero! If you encounter bad things, come to me, because this is my mission! Perhaps?"

"Just convey this to the Dragon Stone! Anyway, we have always been together in the Dream World!"

【"We have one last request... calling it a mission, it is actually our earnest request..."】

【"We hope you will go to the ruins under the sea. As the last king of the Ancient City, challenge the king over there. Regardless of victory or defeat, we will bless you..."】

【"Before this... you can go to the underground of Reversal Mountain and seek the help of the giants. They will give you power. You need a key. The location of that key is, it should be in the ruins of Reversal Mountain. You also need the Sun Stone, Moon Stone, and Dark Stone from that mountain."】

【"Once, we borrowed the power of the giants from the Moon World to fight a war against the giant dragons from beyond the sky... We failed... but... there was a prince who recognized our philosophy... So, this city also left traces of the divine dragon..."】

Since the founding of the country, there have been two kings in Unova. It has been so from the very beginning, and it has been so since the Tao Dragon God split.

The Ancient City of the Origin, the mysterious Sea Capital.

And the Moon Kingdom hidden on the back of the world does not seem to be in this list.

The grievances between the Ancient City and the Undersea Ruins have lasted for 2,500 years, perhaps even longer. Even now, these ancient spirits are still thinking about this matter.

This was the first time Xiang Guangtai heard this secret about the origin of Unova.

But Xiang Guangtai had no reason not to agree, because he himself had already heard the call of the Undersea Ruins.

And when the ancient spirits learned that Xiang Guangtai and the Pokémon had already listened to the call of the Undersea Ruins, they fell into a brief silence.

Perhaps it was sadness for their own slow actions, or shock at the power of the Undersea Ruins, or perhaps they felt lucky that Xiang Guangtai came to the Ancient City first. Various emotions intertwined in the sun disc, released to all the life in front, allowing everyone to clearly feel all this.

【"A hero must make a choice, and the only one who can be chosen at the same time is... a king."】

【"If a hero becomes a king, that would be a tragedy. Since ancient times, it has always been so."】

【"We sincerely bless you. Thank you for agreeing to our request."】

【"This Sun Stone from that mountain, passed down since ancient times, and this Light Stone, are delivered to you."】

The ancient spirits erupted with powerful brilliance. That brilliance shone on Xiang Guangtai and also blessed all of Xiang Guangtai's Pokémon!

At the same time, an orange-red stone like a meteor sun, and a shining stone emitting light fell into Xiang Guangtai's hands.

This is the Sun Stone and the Light Stone, the former is a necessity to open the Moon Gate.

Xiang Guangtai specifically looked at the Sun Stone.

【Cosmic Material: Sun Stone (Cosmic Light).】

【Description: A stone different from ordinary Sun Stones, a Sun Stone that fell from the universe into Reversal Mountain, carrying the power of long ancient years, and simultaneously containing incredible cosmic light. Giving it to a specific Pokémon will make it evolve. Under specific circumstances, this power will be activated and manifested. Giving it to a Pokémon with good compatibility with light, fluctuations, history, and the universe will make their power rise.】

And the description of the Light Stone is the same, except that the Light Stone is a naturally born object of light, and its relationship with the universe does not seem to be as close as the Sun Stone, and the effect is not much different.

【Material: Light Stone (Natural Light).】

【Description: A stone different from ordinary Light Stones, discovered in the depths of Reversal Mountain, said to be able to strengthen the power of light and purify filth, containing the light of nature and evolution. Giving it to a specific Pokémon will make it evolve. Giving it to a Pokémon with good compatibility with light, fairy, and nature will make their power rise.】

In short, it's pretty good to use as a flashlight.

The ancient spirits further explained:

【The stones of darkness and the moon... will be obtained at specific locations. You don't need to worry. The stones from that mountain are not only obtainable in the ruins. A long time ago, those stones, as symbols of civilization, were taken to various parts of Unova along with other Sun Stones... That mountain has extraordinary power, just follow the guidance of the spirit.】

【Mission Complete!】

【Rewards: Release Orb x5, Ancient Sun Spirit x1, Historical Record x1, Sun Badge x7, Spark Scale Powder x6, Vitality Clay x10, Ancient Medal x1.】

【Ancient Sun Spirit: Power granted by the ancient spirits, as a symbol of the King of the Ancient City! Your psychic ability level has been greatly improved! You can use "Confusion (Beginner)", "Sunlight Ability"!】

【You can bestow sunlight on others, and you can also actively gather light to purify certain dark things, soothe the inner heart of life, and can slightly eliminate hostility.】

【In places related to ancient ruins, using the King's power, special abilities such as psychic/spirit ability/creation power/aura will suddenly rise, reaching an incredible height, but after leaving various ancient ruins, it will fall back to normal.】

【Historical Record: A record depicting the history of the Ancient City, but only words and phrases, seems to be a commemorative item, does not possess substantive power, perhaps your story will become a new legend here and spread.】

'Sun Badge: A badge granted after defeating the ancient spirits.'

'Acquisition Requirement: Defeat the ancient spiritual power head-on in the Ancient City and receive a blessing!'

'Effect: Under the sun, you and your Pokémon will be full of vitality, can obtain slight power from natural light to slowly recover your physical strength, all your Pokémon have received the blessing of the ancient spirits and possess a special powerful spirit!'

'Extra: The spiritual power and willpower of all the Pokémon you carry have been greatly improved! Your Pokémon will not flinch, nor will they be intimidated!'

【Spark Scale Powder: Scale powder on the body of Volcarona, known as the incarnation of the sun. Throwing it on the ground and igniting it will trigger a sea of fire. It is an incredible material that can be used in forging, and can also be given to Fire-type Pokémon to make their power rise.】

【Vitality Clay: Material used to make the Vitality Pot. The Vitality Pot can store natural power and convert it into vitality energy usable by Pokémon.】

【Ancient Life Medal: A medal that can improve psychic control and increase body vitality! Represents the meaning of life! Can become slightly more intimate with ancient Pokémon.】

Sunlight ability... This ability is also possessed by everyone. For example, every life in the Alola region possesses light from another world, and can return this brilliance to a certain powerful Pokémon.

And speaking of psychic power, at the beginning, it represented the definition of "light"!

"Light..." Xiang Guangtai condensed a mass of brilliance, simultaneously attracted to Deoxys's light. All sunlight also comes from the universe, this point remains unchanged through the ages!

"Mera?" Larvesta looked curiously at the brilliance in Xiang Guangtai's other hand. It wiggled its small feet trying to touch it, but because it was too short, it couldn't reach. Xiang Guangtai actively sprinkled the light on Larvesta's body, and the latter immediately wiggled happily.

This sunlight made it feel very comfortable, just like sunbathing in the Dream World.

And the ancient spirits also gave Larvesta a unique gift.

【"Offspring of the ancient sun god... You will also inherit the ancient will, just not as a king, but as a god."】

'Acquisition Badge: Incarnation of the Sun God!'

'Description: An inheritance badge granted by the ancient spirits, proof of existence as an offspring of the ancient sun god.'

'Effect: The power of fire and luminous intensity will be greatly improved!'

【Larvesta obtained special power: Great Heat Wave GX! After using a fire move to attack the opponent, any attribute energy on the opponent will be burned by the fire and decrease!】

【Note: GX great power is the power that traverses distant time and space. If it meets the Ultra Aura, the power will be doubled, and incredible fusion changes will occur!】

"Mera! (Such powerful power!)"

Larvesta wiggled, feeling the power surging continuously in its body!

So strong, so hot, so warm!

【This, we want to take away.】

The Sun Disc is essentially a TM, and the move it represents is "Calm Mind". Xiang Guangtai remembers that this was originally an item that Yorgos gave to the protagonist when reflecting in the Ancient City during the post-game of Black and White. Now it has become the power carrier of the ancient spirits.

Perhaps the psychic TM itself has incredible power. Yorgos himself seemed to have said the same thing.

Then what should be done about Volcarona.

Xiang Guangtai recalled Deoxys, which had started flashing, into the Master Ball. And after Deoxys returned to the ball, it floated in mid-air, circling Xiang Guangtai.

After feeding the defeated Volcarona many medicines, this friend who had been taking care of Larvesta finally woke up gradually. Seeing Xiang Guangtai and the other Pokémon, as well as Larvesta, Volcarona was slightly stunned.

But soon it recognized who the person in front of it was!

Ah... it's the person who challenged the gods in the ruins of the God Capital!

Whoo whoo, what terrible thing did it just do? That glowing disc floating up was the ancient spiritual power!

Volcarona's memory was blurred. When it was controlled, it was in a state of erupting anger, and it couldn't think properly at all.

But the situation now was very clear.

It seems that the time to part has finally arrived. Although it had long felt that this day was coming, it just didn't expect it to be so soon.

"Urr."

Volcarona was somewhat depressed, but soon encouraged Larvesta.

Come on, little one! You are the most illegal guy in our family. Make good use of your unique characteristics and climb to the peak of the world's strongest with your friends, just like the ancient kings!

"Do you want to stay here?"

Xiang Guangtai asked about Volcarona's thoughts. In fact, one point that Xiang Guangtai cared about very much was, does Volcarona really only need to eat fire to survive?

So in this empty Ancient City and desert, it could survive for hundreds of years. It turns out it was self-produced and self-sold.

【Take it away... Take it to a place you consider safe, otherwise, guys with ambition like those will come here one after another to try to capture it. The legend it left behind... is the source that attracts people to flock here.】

【And it is too lonely here.】

【We also have to take a short rest.】

The ancient spirits took the initiative to speak. This Volcarona had only lived for a few hundred years. It was a descendant of the Volcarona of the former Ancient City, and it hatched after the city was destroyed. For the ancient spirits, this Volcarona was like their child, and today's events made them very unhappy.

Although, if Xiang Guangtai hadn't come here, those people wouldn't have had the chance to reach this room... However, human desire will not disappear. If it doesn't succeed today, spend more time, and there will always be a chance to capture this Pokémon.

"Urr."

Volcarona touched its fingertips, not knowing what to do. It had lived in the Ancient City for hundreds of years and had never known what the outside world was like. That time in the Dream World was the most beautiful day it felt.

And hearing this, Xiang Guangtai already knew where to send Volcarona.

If it's about researching dreams, of course it's Professor Fennel, but Professor Fennel doesn't have time to take care of Pokémon, so, the place Volcarona can go is naturally Professor Juniper's backyard.

And perhaps within this year, it will also form a bond with Hilbert?

After all, in the original history, either Hilbert or Hilda captured it, or Rosa and Nate captured it.

In any case, it's always better than being captured by Team Plasma. Looking at the Black and White plot, Yorgos's investigation progress on the situation of the Ancient City was very fast, so fast that Ghetsis could enter the underground unscathed and wait in advance for the arrival of the hero and the champion.

【You must know the outside world. Born here, grew up here, do you still want to grow old here and die here? You are life, and we are but ancient ghosts. Offspring of the Sun God, you must see the new world outside. If you feel bored, then return here again...】

The ancient spirits guided Volcarona. Volcarona nodded slightly, turned into a beam of light, and was collected into Xiang Guangtai's Poké Ball.

And Larvesta jumped down from Xiang Guangtai's arms, guiding Xiang Guangtai to the back of the Volcarona mural, where there was Larvesta's Poké Ball.

Once the Poké Ball that appeared from the dream comes to reality, it will automatically become a "Dream Ball".

Xiang Guangtai used the Dream Ball to collect Larvesta into the ball, and the hanging heart finally let go.

"Hmm... I still have to leave some things behind."

"Ancient spirits, thank you," Xiang Guangtai said, and then took out a Release Orb.

"If the meditation TM is damaged, you can use this Release Orb as a container!"

Also, Xiang Guangtai touched the burning ancient mural by the way.

【Acquired: Ancient Mural Style!】

【Description: A magical mural injected with ancient spirits. If you look closely, you will find that the mural is radiating incredible power, which can strengthen the power of some attribute moves. Painting can improve a person's spiritual power and make people produce a strong "sense of substitution"! It will produce "calls" and "echoes" to ancient murals of the same type.】
